    I have 4 bottle babies. All up to 16oz 3 times a day. 1-1/2 gal per day. Unfortunately milk in Florida is $3.50-$4.00 per gallon. Still cheaper than replacer and much safer. I have a little different recipe I use. Will have a video up soon. Great content. Thank you 👍🏼🐐🤠

    Lots of information.
    My bottle baby is a twin. Her mother stopped feeding her at four days old. She still runs with her mother and sister and is cared for by the doe in every aspect other than letting her nurse.
    She even shares her grain.
    I can't tell the kids apart without looking for the tiny differences.
    They are seven weeks old today and the kid has been fed mostly formula sometimes adding whole milk, oat milk, whipping cream.
    Whatever is at hand.
    I will switch over to whole milk when the bag is empty.
    One Question.
    She gets one liter in the morning and grain at night.
    Lots of brush and forage.
    When should I wean her?
    Never mind........ You answered it. 😁

    Thank you so so so much for this video. You probably saved the lives of my bottle babies this year, and prevented lots of bloat on formula!!! Now I have one question, I have 3 on a bottle right now. 2 are doing great. The 3rd kid is a triplet I had to pull because she’s just not growing, we live in a cold climate, and her siblings are huge. She isn’t getting enough to eat in order to grow, let alone tolerate the cold. Anyways, she is proving IMPOSSIBLE to get on a bottle. I can’t tube feed her forever and if I don’t find something, she is going to die. I can imagine the tube does damage over time if I keep feeding it down her her throat so many times a day to get milk into her stomach.

      From time to time you get one of them we have one of them now. We just kee doing what we are doing don’t give up on them you don’t know what they will be yet.

    • @LetsTalkGoats

      Best way to get a kid who refuses the bottle is to make them really, really hungry. Then put the kid between your legs and kneel over it. Lift it’s head up, put the nipple in it’s mouth, then wrap your hand around it and squeeze in quick bursts. By doing that you’re basically mimicking them sucking. You might have to do that a few times, but they eventually learn that’s where the food comes from. I put a 2 week old kid on the bottle doing this method when her mom decided overnight she didn’t want her anymore. (Brooke)

    I am so thankful that I found your video!! It's been such a blessing of information and $savings. My goat kids are 5 weeks old and consuming nearly 32oz/3x a day. Should I pull back to 16-20oz per feeding. Three times a day is what our schedule allows and we're needing to start 2x/day feedings next week. What do you recommend for amounts?

    • @LetsTalkGoats
      @LetsTalkGoats  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be up to you more milk in fast they will grow for you we feed the 16-20oz they don’t grow as fast but catch up when they get on full feed.

    How much do you recommend feeding them each day? I have seen some places recommend 10-12% of their body weight and divided that into 4, and feed that each time. Just curious what you recommend.

    • @LetsTalkGoats
      @LetsTalkGoats  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Erik Norman we don’t feed any more than 16oz at a time. They don’t get that much until 10 days to 2 weeks of age. Right after birth to around 3 days they only take 4-5oz at a time and then they gradually get fed more until they reach the max of 16oz at 10 days. They are fed 5x a day. They go 9 hours at night, starting at 3 days without a bottle. Our schedule looks something like this: 6:30am, 9:30am, 1:30pm, 6:30pm, 9:30pm. Once they reach 8 weeks they are reduced a bottle a day per week, so by 3 months they are weaned.

    Hello.. We have a 7 week old that isn't growing or gaining weight like the others that were born the same week. All the other kids are eager to eat grain and hay, but he doesn't show any interest. The mother doesn't allow him to feed anymore either. How much do you recommend bottle feeding to start? I don't want to make him sick or overfeed. Thank you in advance!

    Do you feed them colostrum or do you just start straight with whole milk

    • @LetsTalkGoats
      @LetsTalkGoats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They nurse on mom right after birth for the colostrum and then we pull them a few hours later. We don’t leave them on mom for too long as the longer they’re on her the harder it is to get them on a bottle. We only pull kids who have weak kids syndrome, or if they’re out of a set of quads or trips, or if mom is downright rejecting them - which doesn’t happen often.

  • @naomiherrera3077

    So they need colostrum to survive right? And what about milking a goat can we do that too to feed the baby goats?

    Hi. I'm still confused as to how much to give my little goat. She is 8 days old now. I've never raised a goat before. She's been having constipation problems and I have no idea if she ate off her mom at all. If there is a way I could private message you that would be great because it's been 8 days and I'm stressing out.
