6000 series aluminum is what is used for welding in aviation, so I would think the chameleon is probably 6061 T-6. 7075 is used for machining and can't be welded, so that is probably what pole, ministry, and others are using for machining their bikes. Before work today I downloaded videos from Hardtail Party, Jeff Kendall Weed, GMBN, Pinkbike, and your channel because I get no internet at the airport I work at. I always watch your videos first. You are very relatable and rip! It gives me motivation to keep ripping now that I am entering my 50's. Keep it up! Love the channel!
There are definitely 7005 Aluminum BMX frames. Not 7075 though. There are definitely stiffer than 6061 frames. There are also mountain bike frames made of 7005 aluminum also.
I still cannot tell you how barreled I was when this thing came out at 1200 bucks with no air fork dropper or hydro brakes. For 699 now its worth it for sure they should have speced it better though.
Yeah slap Specialized, Giant, Niner on it the price would JUMP way up and then the snobs would pay it attention. Looks like a great frame, geo is similar to my 2021 Marin san quention 3. I may buy this frame as a back up cause Marin changed the geo on the san quentin in 2023 and if my frame breaks I don't want that new frame as a replacement.
Nice review! Would this bike fit someone who is 6''4"? Currently riding trek farhly 5 Xl 27.5. I rode rockhopper xl 26 before that for many years. Thanks..nick
I hope you can get a Chameleon, that would be an interesting comparison. I discovered Bison Run the last time I came up north. My friend and I said we need to come back and just session it. How much gnarlier is Dynamite?
If I can't find a Medium Chameleon frame I might try the Banshee Paradox. They are available and look pretty cool. Very similar geometry, but with 7005 aluminum which would be interesting to compare to 6061.
@ShadLife i had the last gen Chameleon and the Paradox at one point, the way the gusset are on the Banshee makes fairly supple. The paradox is also on sale on world wide cyclery iirc
Ah yes, I was primarily focused on the frame and how if rode/felt. I will be doing an updated video on the brakes here soon. The short answer, yes they worked better, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
You get a Santa Cruse and you will probably find this is better. To much marketing to younger crowd when it comes to bikes. Its a bounch of tubes welded together if bike industry has it figured they just market things to the hilt.
Super fun ride! I really like the idea of that bike
Heard that Cuyuna beach was nice in the summer. The folks in Aitkin suggested it. I like the towns like Aitkin with the campgrounds.

Great videos: appreciate the work.
Beautiful Trail's I live in north Florida around Tallahassee...

What steering stem did you go with? I definitely feel like mine is too long and I am thinking 30-35mm would be a lot better?
Spank Split stem. I generally run a 35mm or 40mm stem.
That bike/frame is the best value in the world now. If it had another name on it it would be $1000.00 frameset only.

It’s $300 for a frame just as good as something like the Ragley Marley

You probably want to get the largest size. The one I had would be too small.
@@ShadLife yes was thinking the XL. Thanks Again.

Dynamite is hard, but everything is rollable and caseable so worth sessioning.
How about a Banshee Paradox? Backcountry has a small Chameleon frame in blue on sale $839

I do belive I rode that trail about 3 hours ago!
You didn't talk about the braking, I'm assuming it wasn't terrible or you would have.

This was just a review bike/frame. It's not something I personally planned on keeping. I am currently checking out the Nukeproof Scout 275.
Stoic is also 6061
Yep, I looked it up after.
