Man, I like that belt. Not even as a historical piece, I just like it. I may sew something similar and just...wear it with my suit at work? I dunno, I just LIKE it.
I was going to suggest two, narrow linked, silver chains. The chains are in keeping with the period, the age of your character, and the circumstance of the scene you described.
I would just pin the jacket to the belt with straight pins, with the pins placed under the lapels so that they don't show. Everything is corseted in that area, so they shouldn't move around too much, and you aren't wearing it this way for extended periods of time.
Hi Rebecca, another great outfit! It came out lovely! Jacket out please. If you like the more vertical look than the V add a hook (black, of course) to the inside of the jacket and a thread bar at the top of the belt just along the seam. Once unhooked, no one will see the thread bar at all. Once again, great project! Love your channel!
Okay, One suggestion! use your own personal corset for cutting the pattern for the belt so it lays over your garments smoothly. it is lovely as is, just a suggestion for fit.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions That's Not what I'm saying Put your Corset on the mannequin & Fit the pattern to your corset, probably has to be three pieces, one front two back because you need to put in some curve at the waist, but wouldn't crinkle so much because it would line up with YOU.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions Not if you trace over the finished corset. If you butt all the little pieces together to eliminate the seams, you will have one smooth piece.. It's like putting the two side seams of a pair or pants together, then tracing all the way around the edge so the new pattern now has just the center seam and the seam and the inseam. It's hard to explain, but easy to show, darn it. Do your best. You've got this. It will work out, no matter how you do it.
I love this. It does look good on you. I like jacket out better too. Maybe a little tie or chain would work like a watch or something. I do like it and you lookgood in that dark navy with your fair skin and red hair. Hope the play goes well.
I like the suit with all of the jacket options! It's just so nicely made and I love blues and smooth lines. To keep the back of the jacket tucked in, you could make small, suspender-like items that would clip onto the jacket and the skirt, and then put the belt over them. Maybe garters would be a better way of describing them. Jacket garters!
I think that term had gone out of use by this era, but the corset-like pieces that were worn over the clothing in the mid-Victorian era were Swiss waists.
Everything looks amazing. I like the jacket out from the belt. What about hooks and thread bars, they would be almost invisible on the belt. Have a great play. I’m in Ontario so I can’t come watch it
Try using magnets to keep the jacket bottom front close to the belt. You can encase the magnets underneath the belt, and on the inside hem of the jacket. (No charge for the suggestion.)
Love the finished look. The jacket is my favorite piece... What about a lady's watch chain, as a chain to keep the two side pieces together.(if that is a thing in Edwardian timeline) ..😃
I learned the hard way that I prefer a much narrower cuff most of the time, so I have two flannel house dresses where I just wear them permanently folded in half! Looks great, I hope it works well in your performances!
Safety pins to keep the jacket in place. Having it in for a segment of the show where the script says "dowdy" would be correct. And it would look different from the other scenes. Remember it is about the character, not you.
Have the thing you hook the jacket with on inside of the velt and the hook on the jacket turned backwords on the inside if the jacket so you can take the hook down on inside of velt and attach it
It's hard making an outfit that is suppose to be unflattering, when most of the time, you sew such exquisite gowns.
The corset belt adds so much to this look. I wasn't expecting to see much change, but I was really, really wrong.

One gold chain, under tension across the front holding the two sides where you want them then a second chain as a shallow loop.

Stunning- a tassel on the end of each jacket edge to weigh them down perhaps very 1910s!

Oh, that's brilliant!
If I used a corset pattern, though, it would be made up of lots of different pieces, and that wasn't what I was going for.

I like the jacket open and out of the belt the vertical line is much much better

That is a sweet suit! Simply lovely. 😍 I soooo wish I could come see your performance, but live in Indiana. 😒
I've seen this type of belt called a "Swiss waist" in a few places.

There is nothing unflattering about this ensemble. Jacket in, jacket out. It looks awesome.
A pretty small button whit a small ribbon to hold it closed . something pretty or plain or even a pocket watch chain
Jacket out definitely
Edwardian fashions are so elegant!
I'd call that a "funnel"-shaped cuff -- wide at the top & narrower at the bottom.
I am so in love with this outfit!

If you want to have the jacket tucked into the belt add a sateen band along the bottom hem of the jacket , will give you the extra length to tuck
Magnificent as always!!!
I think it looks super flattering. It's a great ensemble

Chain would probably be too reflective on stage :)
@@TealCheetah Depends what patina. Easy to dull down a little.
I like the idea, but I think there is usually slack in those chains.
Extended cuff links! Like a cuff link, but longer.

I love all the outfits that you’ve shown and I’d love to see video of you wearing the them in the show. I’m to far away to come
I think looks great either way! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful!
Hook and bars to keep the ends in. That’s my guess.
