Truth is, someone still has to come up with a research topic for the Autonomous AI Scientist to start doing the job. Am I wrong for saying the AI Scientist won't be fully autonomous in this regard? Remember research is made on a pre- existing problem to which we seek a solution and has to be within certain topics. Who will be feeding our autonomous Scientist all this information and how will the "peer -reviews" be catered for to ensure the authenticity of the work? I'm all for the application of AI but these considerations need to be made.

Once AI start to become integrated by 20-30% in human interaction there needs to be a way to regulate the use of AI. In my opinion, regardless of the accuracy of the model approaching human accuracy, we have fundamental problems. Current llms, although they can produce new content are not able to imagine and abstract new concepts, it may appear that they do but it is appearance, and if it is an emergent property it is still weak. Also the models completely lack logic, they can get lost in a glass of water so to speak, so I think this is yes the right way forward, but we have to wait for the much smarter logic models to see the real things. Otherwise, as we have been doing for a long time, we will only get a huge amount of low-level, low-quality papers that only make money machines
LLMs are a dead end. As they create more data, that AI generated data will be reused and (to use a musical term) riffed on by AI. So far, that approach has been proven to spiral into a loop of ever-increasing hallucination and uselessness. Just another version of Garbage In, Garbage Out, but one that keeps going and going, like a game of Telephone played with 1,000 people. Soon there will be new fundamental models that are better than LLMs. It'll be interesting to see where they go...
