TL;DR - No, it doesn't need to be charged. The Wacom Pen uses EMR technology, same thing that the standard S-Pen uses, which fun fact, Wacom also made. The S-Pen compatable tablets/phones have EMR compatable displays, so in theory, any EMR pen should work, but I would personally recommend something by Wacom themselves, as opposed to some off-brand one. Fun thing about EMR is that you *do not* need to charge the pens, as they get power from the screen. So all in all, this pen would theoretically work the same as a normal S-Pen. If you had the S-Pen Pro however, it would lack the Air Actions. (yes ik this comment it from 3 months ago but i have an answer)

A7 does not have pen pressure or such stylus support. So it can only use styluses that mimic finger contact on the screen, and it won't have any palm rejection (but you can use a pen rejection glove)

It breaks very easily, I dropped it and started writing 3cm away from the screen in a very erratic way. So u have to take good care of it, not let it fall or get water on it.

Did it originally come with an S-Pen or have S-Pen support? If the answer is yes, then *any* EMR Stylus would work, I personally would buy from Wacom, as they designed the original S-Pen.
