Rest in Peace Allan I heard Metal Fatigue in 1981 and never the same... A very influential musician responsible for technical expressionism phrasing - lore like a saxophone, horn phrases to incredibly clear fast colors..an amazing musician and guitarist. hope to drink some pints with you when i get there
You must of made a typo or possess a time machine (can I borrow it please? 😉) as I bought this LP with my partner the day it came out from Decoy Records in Manchester England. It was 1986. I was 18 years old at the time. Putting the needle on the record and hearing this masterpiece is incomparable until Sand and after Metal Fatigue. Soundtracks to my life. RIP Allan ♥️ Absolute Legend and so far ahead of his time. Greatest guitar player EVER.
Through the trees, the sunlight's streaming the leaves of light are falling down on me though softly and I close my eyes... I know there is a treasure here in this place it was left here long ago, or only last night... Now in the morning... of yesterdays... are muted yearning the haze has softened every future fear for all our yesterdays are near… Golden leaves, a light will gently fall and color all our yesterdays.
jonannlou Holy crap! Level 42 is in there! I love Level as much as Holdsworth, but for different reasons. This video and tune are so cool. Holdsworth is from a different dimension indeed.
OK, I get it now. The Atavachron is a reference to the time machine device on the Star Trek (TOS) episode “All Our Yesterdays”, that inspired the name of Allan Holdsworth’s album.
Here are the lyrics just for fun. Last two lines need correcting. Through the trees, the sunlight streaming The leaves of light are falling down on me Though softly, and I close my eyes I know there is a treasure here in this place It was left here long ago Only last night Now in the morning, all yesterdays A muted yearning The haze has softened every future fear All our yesterdays are near Golden leaves are lightly, gently, fall (?) Unkind of all our yesterdays (?)
Rest in Peace Allan

Fantastic ! Vocal style and timber reminds me of Gayle Moran and Yellerwood
The real Atavachron!!! I mean the episode that inspired Allan to write his 1986 album "Atavachron". Nice!!!
Through the trees,
the sunlight's streaming
the leaves of light are
falling down on me
though softly and I close my eyes...
I know there is a treasure
here in this place
it was left here long ago,
or only last night...
Now in the morning...
of yesterdays...
are muted yearning
the haze has softened every future fear
for all our yesterdays are near…
Golden leaves,
a light will gently fall and color all our yesterdays.

Allan Holdsworth toured a little with Level 42. He plays on some tracks on their album Guaranteed. The best tracks imo.
Well spotted!
Allans one of my favorites ever but I've never quite understood this song lol
Who is the women singing.. God its so beautiful
Rowanne Mark

Roweanne Mark. Ms Peacock sang on the Bruford albums, which featured Allan H.

How do i build one of these?
You go to Princeton and learn string theory, quantum field theory and general relativity first then you can ponder about the atavanchron
The woman singing is Annette Peacock
Boston Celt The actual singer is Rowanne Mark
Im confused now, i know it's not Celine Dion, i know that much...
Boston Celt : Of course not. Make your homework. She's Rowanne Mark (she also wrote the lyrics).
I believe Kirk had the proper disk... I'd a hopped thru right there.
jazz from hell
That'll be Frank Zappa
If you want to avoid this lame sound track and watch the ""real"" video...go some where else. This sucks!!
STFU ASSHOLE
