Loved your story about how you ended up staying in Tennessee. Beautiful memories. Beautiful roots. Them gizzards, liver and gravy fed a multitude of people in them days. They still do!! Alot of people don't like them but I sure do. Boiling gizzards first sure do make them more tender. When I lived in Tennessee I remember making fried gizzards and/liver and gravy for my children's Father. A pot of rice and cornbread on the side. Don't forget the Frank's he would say. I boil my gizzards first also, it makes a big difference and takes away none of the flavor. Love to hear about your wonderful family; back in the day, neighbors really cared about each other; neighbors helping out by feeding those who had less was common when we were growing up.
I have always been told, you are never too old to learn and I learned something new today lol! I love cooking chicken gizzards but I do not like their toughness about them, but I have a pressure/instant pot and I am going to try putting my gizzards in there first then fry them. Also, my mother taught me exactly how you clean the liver, she taught me to take all of that stuff off. I so love your "Story Times" They bring back memories of when I lived in Mississippi.

I love hearing you talk about your child hood because it makes me think about mine, your family values were the same as mines. My mother said they grow up with nothing but they had each other and they never went hungry because they knew what it meant to share and to look out for one another, that’s how they made it then. People are so selfish now they don’t want anyone to have more then they have. My mother said they had biscuits every night except Sunday, on Sunday they had fried cornbread and that was special to them and she carried that tradition with us until she passed, we thought it was funny and would laugh at the stories she told about how poor they were and what they did on a day to day basis…but as we got older it wasn’t funny it was so sad to understand how they had to survive, but they did and they did it better then any of these younger family’s could.
Girl,vim sitting here crying for my mom right now, missing her dearly. The tears are tolling right now and she passed 2018. Planned a big 90th Birthday for the following year. Miss her dearly!🙏🙏🙏RIP
I am so BLESSED. MY MOTHER IS 94 and still living at home by herself. Just these past few months she has been going down hill after another fall. Mother has no agreed to go to assistive living. She will be moved this week. I am disabled and can’t see her very much but I can talk to her on the phone. Please pray this move is best for her. Thanks everyone in advance for your prayers.

I can't say enough about your dishes, and I like when you describe your food while eating it after it is done, it makes your viewers experience the taste right along with you! And you are right, if you did not eat at the time dinner was being served, you just miss out until the next meal, because we were not allowed to go in the refrigerator, that was a no, no; so we ate whatever they gave us! You sure know how to bring the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's back to our remembrances 😊families had wholesome values and standards during those times. That's delicious ,and I was raised in a big family eating the same much appreciated foods, with no complaints we had fruit trees in the yard and made preserves, and enjoyed eating them fresh picked. Never went to bed hungry, and was healthy ❤️

Hey Tennessee North! I'm struggling to stay warm and I'm all the way in Texas! It's cold here too! I'll tell you a story of my childhood! Yes my mother would fry up chicken 🐔 gizzards and livers for us! Her most famous way of cooking them was to boil them with onion, celery, bell peppers and garlic! Right before they were done she would pour rice into the pot and when the rice was done, it was finished! She would serve it with a salad and fried cornbread ho cakes and a glass of Kool-aid! Sometimes she would do the same dish but use chicken necks! I hated eating those dishes, but it was better than going hungry! What brand is your Pressure Cooker? I just bought one for my self as a Christmas present 🎁! I have never used one before! It's one of the InstaPot models but it's black like yours! I sure do enjoy watching 👀 your videos! One other meal that my mother used to make was turkey necks and rice! One time she surprised us by making a full pan of cornbread dressing and she put fresh turkey tails on top and baked them off in the oven! We couldn't wait to get into that! Good ole fashioned cooking Tennessee North! Growing up we ate everything, and that is one of the all-time favorites, chicken livers and gizzards! I can't say enough about your dishes, and I like when you describe your food while eating it after it is done, it makes your viewers experience the taste right along with you! And you are right, if you did not eat at the time dinner was being served, you just miss out until the next meal, because we were not allowed to go in the refrigerator, that was a no, no; so we ate whatever they gave us! You sure know how to bring the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's back to our remembrances 😊families had wholesome values and standards during those times. That's delicious ,and I was raised in a big family eating the same much appreciated foods, with no complaints we had fruit trees in the yard and made preserves, and enjoyed eating them fresh picked. Never went to bed hungry, and was healthy ❤️

Hey Tennessee North! I'm struggling to stay warm and I'm all the way in Texas! It's cold here too! I'll tell you a story of my childhood! Yes my mother would fry up chicken 🐔 gizzards and livers for us! Her most famous way of cooking them was to boil them with onion, celery, bell peppers and garlic! Right before they were done she would pour rice into the pot and when the rice was done, it was finished! She would serve it with a salad and fried cornbread ho cakes and a glass of Kool-aid! Sometimes she would do the same dish but use chicken necks! I hated eating those dishes, but it was better than going hungry! What brand is your Pressure Cooker? I just bought one for my self as a Christmas present 🎁! I have never used one before! It's one of the InstaPot models but it's black like yours! I sure do enjoy watching 👀 your videos! One other meal that my mother used to make was turkey necks and rice! One time she surprised us by making a full pan of cornbread dressing and she put fresh turkey tails on top and baked them off in the oven! We couldn't wait to get into that! She added greens, candied yams, and fried corn! Do you know what field 🌽 is? My mother swore that was the best corn to make fried corn with! Nice chatting with you!
