I would love to get into mold making. I 3D print and rarely do some miniature sculpting, and sometimes it would be great to get that perfect piece molded so that it could be cast in different mediums.
Until we get to those videos online, I recommend you search up videos on Pressure Casting With Silicone Molds. Miniature work is best when cast with pressure...although it is not mandatory. Stay tuned! Michael
There are three. High Five, No Five and Minus Five. You are correct. =) I have a video coming up reacting to a college professor. I will get a bunch of no fives on it as I am pretty hard on the guy for accepting/teaching low quality output at a legit university. I will be ready to hear your score! Stay tuned, Michael I think it posts late next week after this Friday's long video with the bronze horse via 1922.
I find these commentary videos on not great mold making helpful as it debunks a lot of misinformation. Most of us don't have an "old parrot" to explain why our mold making process actually sucks but would be much better if just a few things were done different. Must be hard to not say overly critical things!
CBShipper, Thank you for commenting! Mold making is an extremely obscure process not widely shared...thus key knowledge drops off between generations. I always thought there should be as much online about mold making as there is woodworking, but it just isn't the case. I am happy TH-cam exists and people are willing to put themselves out there for review. The trick for me is to share helpful tips without sinking someone else's battleship. As you have likely seen, the internet landscape is full of people doing things for the first time and claiming to be teaching. It's ok with me... but they are on a tough hill to defend with those who are doing projects daily for demanding clients... albeit without cameras and not specifically for TH-cam. Time will tell if our 'Hand-ufacturing' content is helpful or frustrating to people. Either way, I am grateful you took the time to share your thoughts. Mold Maker High Five to you! Michael
