I have some sphere molds that r in 2 pieces. I think they're from let's resin. I'd say they would work better for this lol. Still not bad. I made a 3d rose out of acrylic (like for nails) and put inside 1 of my spheres. It looks ok. The rose itself looks good in the 1 half but when I put the other side on and filled it up totally changed it

    • @daniel..cooper

Those would be perfect for this as a seam around the sides wouldn't matter 😊

Good try! If you ever decide you want to black coat the back of a piece, use car spray paint, gently and from a distance. two or three thin coats is better than one big blast. You won't need to seal it, but you can if you like with a thin coat of resin, an OO paintbrush is good for that, easily cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, ready for use again. I have those exact sphere moulds, I hate them, I now go for the half spheres and resin them together, you get a seam, but that's easily sanded off, a bit more work, but worth it xx

I think this was an awesome experiment. I think if the cone was squattier it would probably work better. Kind of like a gemstone? Also, putting a mirror under your pieces while you're trying to cure works wonders. I use a small mirror meant for candles. I know you'll get it! Love your work. Wrapping a square of cardboard in aluminum foil - shiny side up, is also an easy way to get light bouncing back. It’s prob not as potent as mirror but it’s disposable & easy to maneuver around. Thanks for sharing 🌹

Overall, this was a cool experiment!!!! :)

You can’t pour UV resin super thick all at once. It will get too hot (it can heat spike in general) and make bubbles. Just like if you pour two part too thick.
A way to potentially remedy this instead of sticking it directly in the lamp, turn the lamp on and sit in just outside the lamp for a few minutes. Then put all the way in. You can do the same thing by holding the lamp up high and slowly inching it closer to avoid the heat spikes.
