      @@BuriedAlien-TRN242 Power doesn't count for much if you haven't the wisdom to know when to take a threat seriously. After all, was Sidious not defeated by his weaker apprentice?
      Sidious may have been the most powerful Sith, though even if Lucas claims that I still have my doubts 'cause goodness knows that man couldn't even keep track of his own lore... But Sidious was likewise a deeply flawed sith and I'd argue a complete and utter coward. It's all deception and manipulation with him, or striking at those decidedly weaker than himself, only fighting or making more overt displays of power when he has no other choice. Hell, Sidious is so afraid of being over-thrown that he went out of his way to dispose of useful dark-siders just because he was afraid they'd grow to powerful, handicapped Vader, and cracks down HARD on anyone with thoughts or ambitions of deposing of him. That's not the mark of a powerful sith, but that of a weak and craven coward. A far cry from what the "Rule of Two" sith are supposed to be.

      Bad! Palpatine isn't Frieza in a bathrobe!
      1. Palpatine is an old man at this point. Unless he jumps into a clone body before the fight, all he can really do by the OT era is force lightning. Any KOTOR-era character worth their salt isn't going down to just that.
      2. "The most powerful Sith in history" was a statement made before any of the EU stuff that *REALLY* power crept the setting was made. Even if it was, Lucas actively ignored and discounted EU material. To paraphrase Lucas, it has to be treated as a separate universe - meaning that authorial statements didn't apply to characters he didn't make by his own logic.
      3. Even if we disregard above logic - being more powerful doesn't mean he can't lose to someone weaker than him. Palpatine canonically died by being tossed down a reactor shaft by a cripple in a suit that deliberately gimped him versus his main offensive ability for crying out loud.
      4. "BUT IT SAYS IN X COMIC, PANEL Y" Bruh, those comics people like you love referencing are there purely to sell merch and tell wildly different stories that don't coincide with the main source material. Referencing Star Wars comic books as your source is like referencing a fan made continuation of a film or TV show made on Tik-Tok.

      @@garlicbread7129 The reason is quite simple
      In the ancient time, the sith killed eachother faster than the jedi.
      Due to their view, greed and lust of power
      However, many weaker apprentices can over throw a powerful master. Making the sith weaker and diluted
      Thus not to go extinct the rule was made. Only one master and one apprentice. No more no less
      Having two apprentices will results in a weaker outcome
      By having the rule of 2. The apprentice will seek greater power from the master. Till the master out lives their purpose and the cycle continues

      @fenrirgaming37 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@newhybrid101 I have to disagree. You need to take into account that Revan is from a time when Jedi were more often than not very active in battle. This led to the Jedi of the KOTOR/KOTOR II and SWTOR eras to have vast amounts of experience in combat, as well as usage of their skills and abilities.
      On the other hand, except for the Clone Wars, and the last battle with the Sith Empire a thousand years prior, the Jedi had no viable combat experience beyond sparring during training, or the occasional fight with some criminal groups. This also applies to the Sith after Darth Bane's establishment of the Rule of Two. Because the Sith operated from the shadows afterwards, they didn't really get involved in battle.
      Sidious was powerful, don't get me wrong, but he spent most of his time manipulating events from the shadows, or wrapped up in one of his rituals. He was like the Jedi, and you can see this in his fight with Mace Windu, where Mace Windu fought him on equal terms, and nearly won if it hadn't been for Anakin/Vader's interference.
      In the end, based on all the facts seen, I believe Revan would have a relatively easy time dealing with Sidious, the same with Kreia. Vader would likely put up somewhat of a fight, but in the end, I feel that he would fall to Revan and Kreia even if he fought one on one.

    • @shadowmandeathstroke8232
      @shadowmandeathstroke8232 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@fenrirgaming37 Sidious was seen as one of the most powerful Sith because of his ability to use the force. If you go by Legends, Sidious was well accomplished enslaving planets and sapping the residents’ life to extend his own and disintegrating starships with his lightning. In the Clone Wars, he easily defeated Savage, who was enhanced with Nightsister magic, and Maul, who lived his entire life as a combatant. Sidious lost to Windu because Windu was a master of Vaapad, which uses the opponents rage against them and scales to the dark side user.
      Vader, much like Sion, refuses to die. His suit’s kill switch was activated before Return of the Jedi, and he keeps himself alive using the force. He is also seen in a canon comic, using force storm and is not seen to be hindered from the loss of his limbs.
      While Sith and Jedi did take more combative roles in the Old Republic timeframe, most were very weak which is how troopers were able to face Jedi and Sith. Any Jedi or Sith remotely near Sidious or Vader would seem extraordinary for the time.

      All Revan did was made Bane aware of the ways of the ancient Sith (the New Sith forsake ancient traditions), while stating that each Sith master should only have one apprentice: and that the most powerful of the sith rules as Dark Lord of the Sith over all the other masters (like the ancient sith), and when that Dark Lord grows weak, or a stronger Sith appears, that a new Dark Lord takes his place.

      Actually, the plan was mostly Sidious’s, rather than anyone else’s. In the Darth Plagueis novel, it was revealed at the end that Palpatine had tricked Plagueis into thinking that many of the key aspects of the Sith Grand Plan were his idea, when in fact they were Sidious’s, cleverly suggested to Plagueis so that he could feed them back to him. The plan was Palpatine’s all along, he just tricked everyone else into believing they were the ones in control.

    Wait… Sidious said the Sith are bound to the will of the Force?! He took part in countless Sith alchemy rituals that bend the Force to serve the will of the Sith… the only time in canon that the Force was able to resist at all, it rebelled and created The Chosen One.
    These videos ARE great, but ya gotta be mindful of who Sidious actually is… he sounded more like Qui-Gon there, than a Sith Lord.

    I'm not sure it makes sense for Sidious to say that even the "mightiest of the Sith are bound to the will of the Force." That sounds more like a Jedi lesson. Wasn't it the Sith's goal to dominate and control the Force?

    • @emeraldmilcham6041
      @emeraldmilcham6041 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct, however Palpatine was likely speaking from a place of wisdom and guidance, as a mentor would to placate their student. Both he and Vader are fully aware of how the Sith operate and seek to control the Force, but for the sake of casual conversation it's him appeasing Vader's sensibilities.

      I remember Darth Tyranus saying "the force is with us" to Sidious at one point. They seek to control the dark side of the force, but are still all bound to it, like everyone else. Sidious plans to control as much as he can, but even he knows he literally can't control everything.

      @Yabuturtle หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@papapalps2415 i think you're a little confused and don't think you've ever really seen Sidious in anything..
      If he thought himself above everyone from the get go, he wouldn't have resorted to trickery to kill Plagueis or the Jedi. He freely admits the Jedi would have killed him and Anakin if they weren't dealt with. He wanted Luke dead because he feared his power until Vader convinced him he'd be better as an ally. He's not omnipotent nor does he believe himself to be, despite being dramatic and acting like he's the dark side incarnate. Lots of villains will like to think they are unstoppable but don't truly believe they are godlike and can do anything they want. Lots are still grounded in reality and know they have limits to their power, despite their arrogance.
