Great presentation and the software seems intuitive. I like the mono mic positions!!
But $300 to have all 3 mallet choices, for a single instrument, for reduced mic positions?
I prefer to program all rolls myself, using regular hits. And I humanize the timing of playback for a natural sound throughout. Therefore, having so many round robins and roll samples doesn't justify the $300 for me.
Also there is too much reverb in the sound. I like to add that in myself and usually I need dryer sounds for smaller pieces.
Can you please demo the close mics and decca tree center?
Perhaps you should market the mic positions as separate products, and not the mallet choices. There is no way any producer will not need them all. But I think most producers would rarely need so many mics. A product that contained all mallet choices but only the close mics and decca tree center for $100 would be good for me. But then again, there is no way to know for sure how they sound. You don't provide a trial, from what I see.
    I'll keep looking/waiting.

Hi Eric! Thanks for your very detailed feedback. There are indeed many options when it comes to sound and mic. We have chosen to record our Synchron Instruments just the way the are used in multi- million dollar productions and provide our users with the same exact setup out of the box. But of course you can customize the sound. However, we will not force you to use our products :-)
As you seem to be genuinely interested, why don't you get in touch with us via support@vsl.co.at and we'll figure out a way for you to test the products. We even offer a 14 day return option if you purchase in our webshop (yep, that's unusual in the world of sample developers)!
