Just getting ready to jump in and this is the unit I'm looking at. Played drums for nearly 40 years and bass for over 20 and always wanted to learn the sax.

I just started Saxophone classes. Using this over the rental Selmer LOL. I did not get the cork goop, nor the plastic reed but all else was as you described. The included reeds do in fact suck. Otherwise, I am very happy with it, and it holds up just fine among the other Saxs' in class!
Ive been looking into getting a clarinet and seen they have an Eastar brand of clarinet as well.
About to buy this online on Amazon sounds great but props for playing songs from Mario games it’s on of the reasons why I’ve wanted to play saxophone 😂
Hey, I bought this and there’s all of these tiny residual cork pieces between the metal that are relatively tricky to remove (compared to the bigger pieces between the keys that are obviously there for protection during shipping). So my question is, can I remove the residual cork or should I leave them there?

Are the stock mouthpiece and reeds good to start with for a 6th grader just getting into band?
I’d say so for a 6th grader, but I also think it’s worth it to at least grab a reed or two from a brand like Vandoren

I’d be concerned about how well the sax holds up over time. That’s typically something you don’t get with cheaper saxes. I have a feeling the company also fixed that sax up and made sure the mechanisms worked before they sent it to you which they might not do for a standard purchase. Usually Chinese saxes are not checked when they get to America and they retain all the damage they took while being shipped (the cases are usually pretty trash), so the buyer gets an unplayable sax on their doorstep. It’s all good for you though, you got a cool looking sax for free. Just saying this as a warning for anyone that is thinking about getting this sax or any other cheap Chinese saxes, you’re taking a chance. If the company doesn’t have good customer support, you could end up with a broken sax that you’ll either have to pay to get repaired or just keep it as is. I know Jean Paul is a company that does have good support, and their saxes are checked and tuned up when they arrive in America, and they will make sure to solve any problems you have. Don’t mean to call Eastar a bad company, I honestly don’t know their practices, they could have good support, I’m just saying. Loved the video!

I bought a Glory Tenor Sax on Amazon and it was cheaper than this sax is, and it was pretty rough, with a couple bent keys and took a bit to get it working well, but I've had it for a year or so, and it's held up pretty good! I'll definitely be keeping everyone updated on how this sax holds up over time, and I hope if anyone else gets one that it works well for them too!

I bought one, and I got scammed. I got a tenor not an alto, 5 keys didn't even work.
If you paid for an alto and got a tenor… that kinda an upgrade.. other than the buttons not working lol
@@AnthonyKase I know it's just that I needed an alto for my school band, I didn't have one for quite some time and I missed out a little bit in some of the stuff we did, also the keys, kinda important lol.
