Almost bought FL Solitude Jacket and Bib but decided to back off since I already owned Sitka Stratus Jacket and Bib, FL Sanctuary Jacket and Bib. It is difficult to stick with one brand since they all good.
Great video. Think the muff style pocket is designed to go with the bibs. You can access the pocket in the bibs while having the jacket zipped up. I stow my "things" in the bib pocket and im good to go
I am looking for a jacket to layer over top of an origin hoodie and i am between the solitude and the source i hunt in the south which would you recommend
Really depend how cold you can handle, but the Solitude does well for me around that 36° and up range with good layering. I can't speak on the Source since I don't have it.
Great video! Wish more people gave their honest opinion with pros AND cons. FL baselayers are awesome and they have a few really good mid/outer pieces but most of their outer layers leave alot to be desired. The Solitude jacket is a horrible design for every reason you mentioned, plus the sleeves are way too tight with layers and the kitlink pass-through is a stupid gimmick.
I thought about it but the Stratus has micro fleece exterior which is a magnet for stickers and burrs. It also isn't insulated. I have the pants and find myself never wearing it. I know everyone swears by it, but I'm not a fan based on my hunting style(getting into thickets and marshland).
@@HuntingNoobie gotcha, thanks for taking the time to reply. Which bottoms are you wearing with the Solitude jacket? I opted for the Stratus bibs over the pants so they can be vented and dump heat. I don’t walk to the stand in my outer layers though since they’re static insulation and not active insulation. First Lite has always interested me in this same category of outer layers.
@zb5715 Good choice going with the bibs. Temp was high 30's. I hunted in the marsh so I wore Tidewe chest waders with First Lite Furnace bottoms underneath. In hardwood terrain with same temp, I had Sitka Equinox Midi pant with Sitka Equinox pant. IMO, First Lite hasn't gotten their insulation dialed in like Sitka. It's still bulky and doesn't have a good warmth to weight ratio like Sitka.
They're selling that jacket now for about 70% off, but I think I'll pass since I already have the Sitka Jetstream.
I ended up selling this jacket. I've been eyeing that jetstream jacket. Does it fit true to size?

how would you compare the solitude line to stratus? warmer?

Excellent reviews. Love reviews by guys that aren't obvious fan boys!
Agreed!

Agreed. Too many guys out here are fan girling the brand and not looking at the facts. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way.
Good job on the review. Thank you.
Did you just want to try something different instead of going to the Sitka Stratus?

I hunt thick brush and briars and my first kite gesr has proven best for me
I agree, I really do like the outer fabric they use.
Absolutely truthful my experience is the same with the the collar because of that flap behind the zipper. Terrible design.
Glad I'm not the only who feels that way. I just don't see anyone talking about the cons of some of these pieces we spend our hard earned money on.
