I feel like people tend to underestimate how powerful Netero actually was. Just one of these punches would be enough to kill or at the very least knock out almost every other character we've seen so far. And given how ridiculously fast these punches are, chances are they couldnt dodge them either. But even if they could dodge them and/or even survive a few hits, there's no way they could break through his defense. I doubt even the royal guards would stand much of a chance since Pitou (the strongest of the guards, at least in terms of overall fighting prowess) couldn't even see his attack coming, let alone dodge it. The only reason Meruem was able to defeat Netero was because he was essentially using godmode. Pretty much every other character lacks at least one of these four attributes: Speed, strength, intelligence and endurance. Speed to dodge his attacks, strength to actually hurt Netero, (godlike) intelligence to break through his defense and endurance to survive his hits. If you lack even one of those you won't be able to defeat him. That's why his ability is so damn impressive, it has crazy attack power and a nigh impenetrable defense. And keep in mind, he wasn't even in his prime anymore. I doubt young Netero would've been able to defeat Meruem, but he still would've been one hell of a frightening opponent. This dude was a _beast._
Neat analysis but I'd say that you don't need all 4 against Netero, at least not in the same quantities. Meruem was fast but still not as fast as Netero so he got hit more often than not. Endurance, toughness was the main attribute that enabled him withstand the Hands and survive, while his intelligence and, to a lesser extent, strength ultimately let him defeat Netero. His speed only let him finish the fight quicker in verifying the likely attack combinations.
Brian Ejike You do need all four. Maybe not to the same extend, but you do need all four. Allow me to explain. Let's assume Meruem wasn't as fast. Even if he still had enough strength, speed and intelligence, he couldnt actually get close to Netero since Netero's attacks would just keep knocking him back. There's no point in knowing how to break through the defense and having enough power to finish your enemy off if you can't even reach him. Netero would just keep on slapping him around and sooner or later, his attacks would injure him enough to kill him. Now let's assume he didnt have enough strength/combat prowess. Even if he could figure out how to break through his defense and had enough speed to get to him, he couldn't injure him. Netero is an enhancer, which means that he can significantly increase his defense if he focuses on it. And Netero wasn't just a random old man, he was once considered to be the strongest nen user in the world. And just like 2Spooky mentioned in the video, his nen ability makes use of all nen types except for his own and is still incredibly strong, to a point where it exceeds most masters of said nen types. It would only make sense if his own nen type was even stronger. So if Meruem didnt have enough power or experience in close combat, Netero would most likely just block or dodge his attack and knock him back again. This is precisely why Pouf wouldn't stand a chance against him either. The rest is quite simple. Meruem was capable of tanking his attacks, but he couldn't dodge them (at least not without Netero making a mistake.) So if he didnt have enough endurace/defense, Netero would simply kill him before he could even come up with a plan. And if he wasn't intelligent enough to figure out his attack pattern, Netero would just keep slapping him around until he's dead. Sure, it might take a while, but sooner or later he would win. Like I said, there's a reason this dude was once considered to be the world's strongest nen user.
+Manav Kumar That's actually something I disagree with 2spooky on; I got the impression reading it that the 0th Hand didn't just use up all his aura, it was literally a suicide move. Or rather, that when it said it used up all his aura, given that nen is life force that meant by using *all* of it he was knowingly killing himself. He didn't die instantly after using it, but then Gon didn't die instantly after the boost from his contract to beat Pitou was used up either. Thus, when Netero gibbed his own heart, he was just speeding things along to make sure Meruem didn't have time to get away from the bomb. TL;DR: I'm pretty sure that's exactly what 0th-Hand was.

I don't think is that simple. Maybe u have to be a legendary strong nen user for u to live longer. Take Zeno's grandfather. He was still alive and it's known that only Netero survived against him in battle. That could also indicate that even tho Netero was old he probably still had a long life ahead of him if he wouldn't have died in battle.
The "problem" with Zeno tho is that he looks even older than a real life 67 yo man (a moderately healthy one at least). If Togashi never put out hard numbers I think he might be older than that, since we actually don't know how much time Netero spent training on the mountains, which I'm guessing is what people used to determine his age. Same thing applies to Netero himself of course.
@Luckee Strikee - What's the likelihood that Zeno might have used his life energy to exchange for power? (Similar to Gon) What's the likelihood that Zeno might have used his nen with a condition that rapidly makes him older? (ahem,... there's is even a character that showcase this type of idea) That's what makes Togashi's writing so special, that there could be many reasons to any question you may have and he doesn't answer what he doesn't need to so you (the audience) can come up with your own ideas for a question or- in this case a ''problem''.
Can’t rap my head around netero being an enhancer, he’s so badass his strongest attacks use anything but enhancement, it’s like someone dared him not to use his main category
On the contrary, I think he is exploiting it thoroughly. I believe one of his hatsu's conditions is that the strength of the emmitted buddha increases by the speed of his prayer. And with crazy training he had gone and his innate enhancement he has, he could reach a speed beyond imagination and thus greatly increases the boddhisatvva's strength. That, and the precondition that requires him to perform the prayer prior activation (a very high risk condition if you think about it) makes it an extremely powerful ability. He was a quite smart and creative enhancer.
A quarter of a tenth of a second is 0.025 seconds. That included him talking,praying, and striking. He became even faster when he went beyond his limits with meruem. The 0.10 second was pitou’s puppet ability to form and strike
You might've gotten this one slightly wrong. He conjures a Bodhisattva, but the power behind the Bodhissatva attacks are all rooted in enhancement. It's no mere manipulation. It's definitely a combination of multiple categories but enhancement is the juice.
So it's conjuration to create the Bodhisattva, manipulation to move it, enhancement to empower it and emission for Zero All at an extremely high level considering the complexity, speed and strength of the Bodhisattva and it's attacks Does that sound more accurate?
People have this notion in their head that those Bodhisattva Slaps are weak attacks. That simply is just not true. Meruem ate it like it was nothing because he's that OP. If Hisoka or Chrollo for instance got hit with at least one of those, they'd be in deep shit. Only a master enhancer can block those shots and live. As far as dodging it, if Meruem couldn't, then no human can.

Actually enhancement has nothing to do with it, as enhancement only enhances the user's own techniques, or an object directly connected with the user. The Bodhisattva is emitted instead of conjured, because it's made purely out of nen, and not an independent object. I'd more or less imagine that the Bodhisattva is emitted to have the strength or properties of various strong metals/stuff like that, so with the added speed, the force of the hands are very powerful. Though it is not rooted with enhancement, because you can't use enhancement with something that's outside of your body. + It's not conjured because it's made out of pure aura.
Doing 10,000 punches is quite the feat actually. That's 2,8 punches AND prayers a second. While the prayer is 4/5 (80%) of the time he could do easily do 5 times more at the same time if he did not pray. 13 to 14 punches each second while using one hand and going and always going back into position afterwards. Assuming his reach is 60cm. Punching forward and going back into position would be a distance of 120cm. 120cm x 14 punches meaning his fist would be "travelling" 17 meters per second. 17 meters per second equals 61,2km per hour. The speed of sound is 1234km per hour. So either his punches were NOT faster then the speed of sound or his prayer takes WAYYY longer then estimated. Going with 1250km per hour the same math backwards. 1250km per hour equals 347 meters per second. 34'700cm of fist movement: 2 equals 17'350 :60cm (arm length) equals about 290 punches per second. Without praying he should be able to do over a million punches in an hour. If his punches were faster then the speed of sound. This means that his prayers take 99% of the time. Oh and let's not forget how fast he REALLY is. Pitou was able to reach Kite who was easily 2km away in a SECOND. Pitou used her physical body and no nen at all. With her puppet she was able to sense Netero and Zeno who were in the clouds in uhmm... A millisecond (according to the manga). Since we all should know when Killua pushed the 16 ton gate without nen and again he pushes the 64 ton gate with nen. That should mean that Nen gives 4x power boost. So the clouds are about 20 thousand feet from us (6km for the normies). So she should be able to get a 6x boost with her Hatsu. Infact she is how much faster then sound? 6x faster then the speed of fucking sound. And with nen she should be 34x faster then the speed of sound. Netero COMPLETELY speed blitzed so hard she could barely see him. So he is EASILY hundreds of times the speed of sound. I mean this retarded speed.
As an old ass man, his most powerful move was literally shooting burning aura energy with divine, cosmic intensity. I can't even imagine what he was capable of at his prime. Could probably wipe out a whole city in under a minute.
Just gonna add some nitpicky things that are also kind of questions on my part (correct me if I'm wrong): 3:33 I don't think Netero's Ren is what frightened Meruem because Netero didn't have any aura left and certainly not enough to do Ren. I think what really spooked Meruem was the psychopathic level of determination Netero had for somebody that was completely defeated. The "aura" in the scene was just for artistic effect. 9:33 I think we were shown the other Hands for 100-type but they just weren't named. The name of the Hatsu implies the number of attacks he can use (that satisfies our curiosity), after that there's no point in naming attacks that essentially boil down to punching/striking from different angles
Nen is literal life force. I very much doubt that, unless you were dead and your nen didn't get reinforced, you would have completely 0 at any point even with Netero's attack. It's simply that the amount of nen 0-Hand use means it's practically all and Netero is already so weak it doesn't matter much that it isn't a perfect 0.
@Blue Lambo, plack president Nen is pretty much your health bar/stamina bar..if it gets low, you get exhausted, if it turns 0 then you're dead. I'm sure it was stated by Wing when he told Killua and Gon to focus and control their leaking nen aura after they unlocked it that if it all leaks out they will die.

Are you sure it's 0.1 seconds?? That seems way too slow. An above average person has a reaction time similar to that. Meaning a normal human being would be able to see his hands move, let alone Pitou. Hell, there are boxers throwing 7 punches + in less than two seconds. I think it's 0.01.
Netero with his stand Buddha over heaven could even stop time when he was in his prime but as he aged he lost this ability and was forced to only use the power of his muda ora
Considering how Nen has been portrayed lately, being so intrinsically connected to emotions and intentions, I see a clear possibility of Netero's main abilities being based on the Enhancement of his love, patience, devotion etc. It makes a great combo with Enhancement type when you take into account that limiting your Hatsu use to a mental/emotional/spiritual state is already a way to strengthen your aura.
Agreed, especially with the strong Buddha symbolism around Netero (especially after his 0 fist final attack) I think the implication is that he achieved some sort of 'enlightened' state and cast off many of his limitations the way some buddhists aim to cast off mortal attachments. If you asked Netero which type of Nen he was using for his Hatsu I bet he'd say something like the buddhist parable: Wu - 'unask that question'

Here's my read on this. As Wing says one can change Nen class later in life through experiences and growth. Netero did so. He became a Specialist, something thought to be impossible. The statue? Just for show, to master all nen categories in the creation of one move: Emission and transmutation for his 0 hand, conjuration for its creation, manipulation for its movements. What's his specialist ability? Time stop. He does not punch any faster, he stops time. That's why his ritual prayers took less time to complete - he didn't pray any faster, he was creating extra time for himself to pray in before and after every punch thrown. It's why Meruem could not dodge him despite being so much faster - he doesn't _get_ to move. A lot of people I discussed this with founds this idea outright offensive and insist that Netero is just fast. That does not explain how his 10,000 punch ritual could be completed many times faster if the narrator states flat out that he didn't rush the ritual at all, leaving the audience no answer but time manipulation.
Nope, he was an enhancer, but his hatsu is a combination of emission and enhancement. He first emits his aura to become the bodhisatva, then uses enhancement in every physical attack the bodhisatva.

First, Netero obviously had Nen before his training in the mountain as he uses Aura while training there. But I guess you mean he developed his Hatsu, so the unique ability expressed with Nen, in the mountains or slightly after. Second, Meruem was not scared becaue of Ren. Please explain how you got to that conclusion, seriously, I am curios. Anyways, I think it was very very obvious that what happened was simply Meruem realizing what was happening and that he is about to die. Meruem is incredibly intelligent and the narrator made it clear that Meruem realized that Neteros words were more than just a mere boast. So yeah, no Ren, just Meruem realizing he is actually going to die in this fight.
2:49 Netero survived a fight with Maha Zoldyck, also Netero is the type to always seek a challenge, so I’m guessing Netero and Maha are at the same level of power. This could be true especially since Netero saw Meruem as his greatest challenge and that he always wanted a challenge that he could pour his his heart and soul into.
What really scared me was Netero in his final moments went from having faith in the Buddha and the peace it represents to portraying his faith in death. Like he pulls a full 180 on his faith and beliefs and ngl that moments was pretty shocking
yeah pretty cool how his character went that way, very much a human change in character. he lived his whole life in one specific way but it wasnt until his final moments that netero showed his true colors, his true undeniable human nature, as much as humans may want peace and faith; death is the end all be all

Are you sure that you did the math right, because according to my calculations, you're off by a large margin. .1 seconds = one attack .1 seconds * 10 = 1 second = 10 attacks. 1 second * 60 = 1 minute = 600 attacks. Netero dont take 0.1s to attack, this is the time pitou ability took to activate... Netero was talking to her so we can deduce that at full strength he is faster... It was clearly stated that against meruem they exchanged 1000 times in a minute... The 10000 punches in an hour was after 2yrs of training, he still continued on mountain and probably improved
I think we actually saw Netero's other techniques with the 100-type Guanyin thru that moment where Meruem was looking for a chance before he cut off Netero's arm. During that point, Netero was just attacking constantly, but he was never calling out his attacks. So in theory, Netero already shown his 1st to 98th Hand during that time. Probably the 1st to the 98th Hand are techniques by themselves designed to attack and counter attack every opponent's possible moves at any angle at any speed at any time, making it an almost unbeatable set of attacks that no one could escape. That is until Meruem deduced that if he just keeps on trying out all of the possible patterns Netero can make, he can eventually see that one opportunity to actually hit Netero.
You forgot Netoro strongest technique, “Alluhah Akbar” where he blow himself up with a mini nuke to kill his enemies in the blast radius. If they survive they would still die slowly from radiation poisoning.

Not even mythology. She was an actual Buddhist figure in China. A Bodhisattva is a person believed to have come close to true enlightenment, but chose to stay to benefit others - at least from my western understanding of the term. So she would've been an actual woman believed to have become devine in life

Neteros uses his enhancement trait to make his hands move so fast to perform his "prayers" fulfilling the conditions of his hatsu. The only type he doesnt use is conjuration/materialization which reflects his buddhist theme of seperation from material concerns.. source:wiki
I always thought the Bodhisattva was literally just a manifestation of Netero's godlike speed when throwing punches wherein he could strike and return instantly, making it appear as though he had never moved at all. The statue is merely the trace of his aura left behind.
There are attacks for each hand, he just uses the one most suited to the environment he's in, the higher the hand the attack is with this more powerful the attack, so first hand was a single strike but 99 hand was a barrage of attacks. He's a lot stronger than you might be giving him credit for, besides hes a lot faster than a strike every 0.1 second, thats the speed of Pitou and he got rid of Pitou like they were nothing.
Hand 19 thunderclap and dash: Netero puts one arm behind his back and the other one in his heart making guanyin's attack so fast it looks like there is thunder being made from them.

Netero is an Enhancer type Nen user that well known for their good regenerative ability, thus this might had something to do with his long life. And i believe that this could only apply to either a Specialist or Enhancer. Anyway great video
"Manipulation" does not mean manipulating one's aura. Manipulation as a Nen category allows a Nen user to manipulate matter (living: human, animals, plants, bacteria, etc.; or nonliving: water, virus, corps, mannequin, genome, etc.) or non-matter (light, space, time, etc.). Netero's hatsu is chiefly enhancement and emission. He emits his aura shaped like the god he worships and enhances its strength and speed. With Zero hands, he must have incorporated transmutation to transform his aura into purely destructive energy: an amalgam of light energy, heat energy and the likes as it was blinding and melted the ground akin to magma.
Wouldn't his hatsu actually be a mix of 4 nen types? So like he emits his aura (emitter) he shapes it into a statue (transmitter) makes it's hands move around (manipulator) and enhances its strike's durability (enhancer). So he's still using his native nen type of enhancement (it wouldn't make sense to me for him not to lol)
I would say turning his aura into the statue would fall under conjuration, it depends on if you think the statue is just an image and in truth is just nen SHAPED like a statue, or if the statue is actually there
Actually lad you just have a misunderstanding about enhancement. You see enhancement only affects the users own abilities, or an object directly touching the user. So because the Bodhisattva is created purely with nen and is not connected with his body, there's no way it can be enhancement. Hope that helps!

It's not enhancement because the statue is a thing Netero creates, its already being enhanced just by existing, It's more likely to thing that Netero simply took advantage of his 80% efficiencies in Emmitter and Transmutation, in order to create this specific hatsu, which turned out to be very effective, Looking at it from the reader's point of view, it's obvious to me that Togashi gave Netero's ability before choosing a category for him, and then chose the category that made the most sense given the power, that being enhancement, Assuming it does use emission and transmutation, then no other category besides enhancement would be able to use this hatsu efficiently,
I'd like to believe that Netero's strongest move is *69th hand.* It's like the 99th hand position, but the left hand is rotated upside-down to resemble the number '6'.
I see 100-Type Guanyin Bohdisattva as more of a symbol or representation of Netero's insane devotion to the martial arts. When Netero produces his aura he compresses time itself giving him the ability to attack that fast with seemingly 100 arms to his opponent. While you could say the 100-type is conjured due to this ability, this is more of side effects of his insane enhanced nen rather than the actual ability itself. So it would be Netero throwing those punches through the 100-Type, not the 100-Type itself. As a side note: the Zero Hand technique where the 100-type seemingly grasps the opponent with an "indiscriminate love" (iirc) is almost like Netero's version of a thank you prayer for being blessed with an opponent stronger than him, where he was able to use all of his abilities.
I think it's implied that each strike is precalculated, meaning not only does netero need to complete a hand gestures to use it but he needs to know which gesture(hand) will block and/or hit his opponent making his fight even more impressive given that he needed to predict which ways meruem would come at him, know which hand was perfect for that situation and then use that specific gesture all in the time it took meruem to jump at him.
I think Netero used this ability because hand to hand combat with the ant king was too disadvantageous to him, seen when he takes his arms and legs when he found openings. Even if he could attack stronger or faster, he would end up limbless in their exchange. Outright dead if he didn't use his name as leverage to both force the king to fight and make him unable to kill him.
Something I never got was why do nen uses only develop 2 or 3 hatsu's? Seems they can develop 1 in less than a year. You'd think people would have like 7-10 hatsu abilities. Why don't they develop more?
Some people do develop multiple Hatsus, but that usually leaves you with 2 or 3 weak hatsus instead of 1 really strong one. It's like dividing your power instead of multiplying it, some people do have multiple though, but most that do are crazy broken people. If you think about it, Chrollo has a ton in his book (and also has another hatsu that he created aside from his book).
Kevin Rogers I thought your hatsu could still be super strong even if you had multiple? Isn't a hatsu just a skill/ability. A way you manipulate your aura to serve a specific function? If so then people should have multiple and not have other weak hatsu. It's not like they're doing all 3 hatsu at the same time. That would divide your power a lot. Think of it like jutsus in naruto. They have multiple abilities but the more jutsu they learn their others don't get weaker.
I can't say for sure exactly, but the way Bisky explained Hatsu was that it should be based on something you're familiar with, more so the thing you're MOST familiar with. Then on top of that you need to be able to master that one particular ability as you go along in life. It's not so much that it's impossible (like I said, certain characters can and HAVE done it), but it's not practical for most characters. So for somebody like Chrollo - good idea, somebody like Gon? Terrible idea, he's an idiot and can barely keep track of numbers past 100.
It's not likely, but it's possible. Certain nen-types would have a better chance of doing this as well, and even then, it might just umbrella each thing under the same nen with different abilities. The only thing making them different would be the pact that binds them to the user and allows the user to wield. If say a conjurer had a very different connection and pact for multiple items, they could potentially summon a bunch of different things at different times. An example of somebody with multiple nen abilities is Knov, he as the room ability and the void deletion hand thing I don' t remember the name of. Gon also technically has multiple nens, just under an umbrella since he uses an emission move, an enhancer move, and a transmutation move.
The categories used in Bodhisattva is Transmutation, Manipulation e maybe Enhance(If we're considering the Doll's strength) but not Emission, this last just come when Netero use the Zero Hand.
If I remember correctly it's specifically mentioned after his passing that his whole technique uses Enhancement to strengthen the durability of it. I think it was to insinuate that his mastery over all Nen types was made possible by using the technique and then enhancing them which gave them their strength. so his 100 type guanyin bodhisattva was a use of Emission, Conjuration, Manipulation, and Enhancement. I may be remembering it wrong, but that's what I remember.
Small correction: Aura isn't used to prevent aging. The natural loss of aura makes you age, since nen users learn to close that natural output their aging slows down.
The hatsu so good. Netero is an enhancer that boosts his own attack speed. From the prayer motion to the shlap. Every other type mostly has a focus & stacks on. Conjuring is used to create the buddha. Religious icons as with Abengane have been shown to be conjuring since it's a creation based on something already existed. Manipulation is used to control it obviously but it's copying his attacking motion, which also means his speed. So a giant mass with his speed. Transmutation is used for the light, while Emission is used to teleport & then combined with the transmutation for the laser.

I feel like people tend to underestimate how powerful Netero actually was. Just one of these punches would be enough to kill or at the very least knock out almost every other character we've seen so far. And given how ridiculously fast these punches are, chances are they couldnt dodge them either. But even if they could dodge them and/or even survive a few hits, there's no way they could break through his defense. I doubt even the royal guards would stand much of a chance since Pitou (the strongest of the guards, at least in terms of overall fighting prowess) couldn't even see his attack coming, let alone dodge it. The only reason Meruem was able to defeat Netero was because he was essentially using godmode. Pretty much every other character lacks at least one of these four attributes: Speed, strength, intelligence and endurance. Speed to dodge his attacks, strength to actually hurt Netero, (godlike) intelligence to break through his defense and endurance to survive his hits. If you lack even one of those you won't be able to defeat him. That's why his ability is so damn impressive, it has crazy attack power and a nigh impenetrable defense. And keep in mind, he wasn't even in his prime anymore. I doubt young Netero would've been able to defeat Meruem, but he still would've been one hell of a frightening opponent. This dude was a _beast._
Neat analysis but I'd say that you don't need all 4 against Netero, at least not in the same quantities. Meruem was fast but still not as fast as Netero so he got hit more often than not. Endurance, toughness was the main attribute that enabled him withstand the Hands and survive, while his intelligence and, to a lesser extent, strength ultimately let him defeat Netero. His speed only let him finish the fight quicker in verifying the likely attack combinations.

You do need all four. Maybe not to the same extend, but you do need all four. Allow me to explain.
Let's assume Meruem wasn't as fast. Even if he still had enough strength, speed and intelligence, he couldnt actually get close to Netero since Netero's attacks would just keep knocking him back. There's no point in knowing how to break through the defense and having enough power to finish your enemy off if you can't even reach him. Netero would just keep on slapping him around and sooner or later, his attacks would injure him enough to kill him.
Now let's assume he didnt have enough strength/combat prowess. Even if he could figure out how to break through his defense and had enough speed to get to him, he couldn't injure him. Netero is an enhancer, which means that he can significantly increase his defense if he focuses on it. And Netero wasn't just a random old man, he was once considered to be the strongest nen user in the world. And just like 2Spooky mentioned in the video, his nen ability makes use of all nen types except for his own and is still incredibly strong, to a point where it exceeds most masters of said nen types. It would only make sense if his own nen type was even stronger. So if Meruem didnt have enough power or experience in close combat, Netero would most likely just block or dodge his attack and knock him back again. This is precisely why Pouf wouldn't stand a chance against him either.
The rest is quite simple. Meruem was capable of tanking his attacks, but he couldn't dodge them (at least not without Netero making a mistake.) So if he didnt have enough endurace/defense, Netero would simply kill him before he could even come up with a plan. And if he wasn't intelligent enough to figure out his attack pattern, Netero would just keep slapping him around until he's dead. Sure, it might take a while, but sooner or later he would win.
Like I said, there's a reason this dude was once considered to be the world's strongest nen user.
I only wonder what if Netero had used Vow with a punishment like imminent death over using that attack he could have been devastating.
+Manav Kumar That's actually something I disagree with 2spooky on; I got the impression reading it that the 0th Hand didn't just use up all his aura, it was literally a suicide move. Or rather, that when it said it used up all his aura, given that nen is life force that meant by using *all* of it he was knowingly killing himself. He didn't die instantly after using it, but then Gon didn't die instantly after the boost from his contract to beat Pitou was used up either.
Thus, when Netero gibbed his own heart, he was just speeding things along to make sure Meruem didn't have time to get away from the bomb.
TL;DR: I'm pretty sure that's exactly what 0th-Hand was.

I don't think is that simple. Maybe u have to be a legendary strong nen user for u to live longer. Take Zeno's grandfather. He was still alive and it's known that only Netero survived against him in battle. That could also indicate that even tho Netero was old he probably still had a long life ahead of him if he wouldn't have died in battle.
The "problem" with Zeno tho is that he looks even older than a real life 67 yo man (a moderately healthy one at least). If Togashi never put out hard numbers I think he might be older than that, since we actually don't know how much time Netero spent training on the mountains, which I'm guessing is what people used to determine his age. Same thing applies to Netero himself of course.

On the contrary, I think he is exploiting it thoroughly. I believe one of his hatsu's conditions is that the strength of the emmitted buddha increases by the speed of his prayer. And with crazy training he had gone and his innate enhancement he has, he could reach a speed beyond imagination and thus greatly increases the boddhisatvva's strength. That, and the precondition that requires him to perform the prayer prior activation (a very high risk condition if you think about it) makes it an extremely powerful ability. He was a quite smart and creative enhancer.

Actually enhancement has nothing to do with it, as enhancement only enhances the user's own techniques, or an object directly connected with the user.
The Bodhisattva is emitted instead of conjured, because it's made purely out of nen, and not an independent object.
I'd more or less imagine that the Bodhisattva is emitted to have the strength or properties of various strong metals/stuff like that, so with the added speed, the force of the hands are very powerful.
Though it is not rooted with enhancement, because you can't use enhancement with something that's outside of your body. + It's not conjured because it's made out of pure aura.

Considering how Nen has been portrayed lately, being so intrinsically connected to emotions and intentions, I see a clear possibility of Netero's main abilities being based on the Enhancement of his love, patience, devotion etc. It makes a great combo with Enhancement type when you take into account that limiting your Hatsu use to a mental/emotional/spiritual state is already a way to strengthen your aura.
Agreed, especially with the strong Buddha symbolism around Netero (especially after his 0 fist final attack) I think the implication is that he achieved some sort of 'enlightened' state and cast off many of his limitations the way some buddhists aim to cast off mortal attachments. If you asked Netero which type of Nen he was using for his Hatsu I bet he'd say something like the buddhist parable: Wu - 'unask that question'

Here's my read on this.
As Wing says one can change Nen class later in life through experiences and growth. Netero did so. He became a Specialist, something thought to be impossible.
The statue? Just for show, to master all nen categories in the creation
of one move: Emission and transmutation for his 0 hand, conjuration for
its creation, manipulation for its movements.
What's his specialist ability? Time stop. He does not punch any faster, he stops time.
That's why his ritual prayers took less time to complete - he didn't pray any faster, he was creating extra time for himself to pray in before and after every punch thrown. It's why Meruem could not dodge him despite being so much faster - he doesn't _get_ to move.
A lot of people I discussed this with founds this idea outright offensive and insist that Netero is just fast. That does not explain how his 10,000 punch ritual could be completed many times faster if the narrator states flat out that he didn't rush the ritual at all, leaving the audience no answer but time manipulation.
Nope, he was an enhancer, but his hatsu is a combination of emission and enhancement. He first emits his aura to become the bodhisatva, then uses enhancement in every physical attack the bodhisatva.

Anyways, I think it was very very obvious that what happened was simply Meruem realizing what was happening and that he is about to die. Meruem is incredibly intelligent and the narrator made it clear that Meruem realized that Neteros words were more than just a mere boast. So yeah, no Ren, just Meruem realizing he is actually going to die in this fight.
2:49 Netero survived a fight with Maha Zoldyck, also Netero is the type to always seek a challenge, so I’m guessing Netero and Maha are at the same level of power. This could be true especially since Netero saw Meruem as his greatest challenge and that he always wanted a challenge that he could pour his his heart and soul into.
What really scared me was Netero in his final moments went from having faith in the Buddha and the peace it represents to portraying his faith in death. Like he pulls a full 180 on his faith and beliefs and ngl that moments was pretty shocking
yeah pretty cool how his character went that way, very much a human change in character. he lived his whole life in one specific way but it wasnt until his final moments that netero showed his true colors, his true undeniable human nature, as much as humans may want peace and faith; death is the end all be all

I think we actually saw Netero's other techniques with the 100-type Guanyin thru that moment where Meruem was looking for a chance before he cut off Netero's arm. During that point, Netero was just attacking constantly, but he was never calling out his attacks. So in theory, Netero already shown his 1st to 98th Hand during that time.
Probably the 1st to the 98th Hand are techniques by themselves designed to attack and counter attack every opponent's possible moves at any angle at any speed at any time, making it an almost unbeatable set of attacks that no one could escape. That is until Meruem deduced that if he just keeps on trying out all of the possible patterns Netero can make, he can eventually see that one opportunity to actually hit Netero.
You forgot Netoro strongest technique, “Alluhah Akbar” where he blow himself up with a mini nuke to kill his enemies in the blast radius. If they survive they would still die slowly from radiation poisoning.

So she would've been an actual woman believed to have become devine in life

I still think it's somewhat of an enhancement move. So like he emits his aura (emitter) he shapes it into a statue (transmutter) makes it's hands move around (manipulator) and enhances its strike's durability (enhancer). So he's using 4 hatsu types
Neteros uses his enhancement trait to make his hands move so fast to perform his "prayers" fulfilling the conditions of his hatsu. The only type he doesnt use is conjuration/materialization which reflects his buddhist theme of seperation from material concerns.. source:wiki

I always thought the Bodhisattva was literally just a manifestation of Netero's godlike speed when throwing punches wherein he could strike and return instantly, making it appear as though he had never moved at all. The statue is merely the trace of his aura left behind.

There are attacks for each hand, he just uses the one most suited to the environment he's in, the higher the hand the attack is with this more powerful the attack, so first hand was a single strike but 99 hand was a barrage of attacks. He's a lot stronger than you might be giving him credit for, besides hes a lot faster than a strike every 0.1 second, thats the speed of Pitou and he got rid of Pitou like they were nothing.

I believe those 4 technique he used was his most powerful attack than the rest.
"Manipulation" does not mean manipulating one's aura. Manipulation as a Nen category allows a Nen user to manipulate matter (living: human, animals, plants, bacteria, etc.; or nonliving: water, virus, corps, mannequin, genome, etc.) or non-matter (light, space, time, etc.). Netero's hatsu is chiefly enhancement and emission. He emits his aura shaped like the god he worships and enhances its strength and speed. With Zero hands, he must have incorporated transmutation to transform his aura into purely destructive energy: an amalgam of light energy, heat energy and the likes as it was blinding and melted the ground akin to magma.

I would say turning his aura into the statue would fall under conjuration, it depends on if you think the statue is just an image and in truth is just nen SHAPED like a statue, or if the statue is actually there
Actually lad you just have a misunderstanding about enhancement. You see enhancement only affects the users own abilities, or an object directly touching the user.
So because the Bodhisattva is created purely with nen and is not connected with his body, there's no way it can be enhancement. Hope that helps!

It's not enhancement because the statue is a thing Netero creates, its already being enhanced just by existing,
It's more likely to thing that Netero simply took advantage of his 80% efficiencies in Emmitter and Transmutation, in order to create this specific hatsu, which turned out to be very effective,
Looking at it from the reader's point of view, it's obvious to me that Togashi gave Netero's ability before choosing a category for him, and then chose the category that made the most sense given the power, that being enhancement,
Assuming it does use emission and transmutation, then no other category besides enhancement would be able to use this hatsu efficiently,

I see 100-Type Guanyin Bohdisattva as more of a symbol or representation of Netero's insane devotion to the martial arts. When Netero produces his aura he compresses time itself giving him the ability to attack that fast with seemingly 100 arms to his opponent. While you could say the 100-type is conjured due to this ability, this is more of side effects of his insane enhanced nen rather than the actual ability itself.
So it would be Netero throwing those punches through the 100-Type, not the 100-Type itself.
As a side note: the Zero Hand technique where the 100-type seemingly grasps the opponent with an "indiscriminate love" (iirc) is almost like Netero's version of a thank you prayer for being blessed with an opponent stronger than him, where he was able to use all of his abilities.

I think it's implied that each strike is precalculated, meaning not only does netero need to complete a hand gestures to use it but he needs to know which gesture(hand) will block and/or hit his opponent making his fight even more impressive given that he needed to predict which ways meruem would come at him, know which hand was perfect for that situation and then use that specific gesture all in the time it took meruem to jump at him.
Netero's ability is honestly amazing. Being able to clap dem cheeks so powerfully, i could only dream
I think Netero used this ability because hand to hand combat with the ant king was too disadvantageous to him, seen when he takes his arms and legs when he found openings. Even if he could attack stronger or faster, he would end up limbless in their exchange. Outright dead if he didn't use his name as leverage to both force the king to fight and make him unable to kill him.
Something I never got was why do nen uses only develop 2 or 3 hatsu's? Seems they can develop 1 in less than a year. You'd think people would have like 7-10 hatsu abilities. Why don't they develop more?
Some people do develop multiple Hatsus, but that usually leaves you with 2 or 3 weak hatsus instead of 1 really strong one. It's like dividing your power instead of multiplying it, some people do have multiple though, but most that do are crazy broken people. If you think about it, Chrollo has a ton in his book (and also has another hatsu that he created aside from his book).

I thought your hatsu could still be super strong even if you had multiple? Isn't a hatsu just a skill/ability. A way you manipulate your aura to serve a specific function? If so then people should have multiple and not have other weak hatsu. It's not like they're doing all 3 hatsu at the same time. That would divide your power a lot. Think of it like jutsus in naruto. They have multiple abilities but the more jutsu they learn their others don't get weaker.
I can't say for sure exactly, but the way Bisky explained Hatsu was that it should be based on something you're familiar with, more so the thing you're MOST familiar with. Then on top of that you need to be able to master that one particular ability as you go along in life. It's not so much that it's impossible (like I said, certain characters can and HAVE done it), but it's not practical for most characters. So for somebody like Chrollo - good idea, somebody like Gon? Terrible idea, he's an idiot and can barely keep track of numbers past 100.

It's not likely, but it's possible. Certain nen-types would have a better chance of doing this as well, and even then, it might just umbrella each thing under the same nen with different abilities. The only thing making them different would be the pact that binds them to the user and allows the user to wield. If say a conjurer had a very different connection and pact for multiple items, they could potentially summon a bunch of different things at different times. An example of somebody with multiple nen abilities is Knov, he as the room ability and the void deletion hand thing I don' t remember the name of. Gon also technically has multiple nens, just under an umbrella since he uses an emission move, an enhancer move, and a transmutation move.
The categories used in Bodhisattva is Transmutation, Manipulation e maybe Enhance(If we're considering the Doll's strength) but not Emission, this last just come when Netero use the Zero Hand.
It's not about how fast netero is, but how kind, intelligent, touch, brave, love for art of fighting he is!!

If I remember correctly it's specifically mentioned after his passing that his whole technique uses Enhancement to strengthen the durability of it. I think it was to insinuate that his mastery over all Nen types was made possible by using the technique and then enhancing them which gave them their strength. so his 100 type guanyin bodhisattva was a use of Emission, Conjuration, Manipulation, and Enhancement. I may be remembering it wrong, but that's what I remember.
Small correction: Aura isn't used to prevent aging. The natural loss of aura makes you age, since nen users learn to close that natural output their aging slows down.
The hatsu so good. Netero is an enhancer that boosts his own attack speed. From the prayer motion to the shlap. Every other type mostly has a focus & stacks on. Conjuring is used to create the buddha. Religious icons as with Abengane have been shown to be conjuring since it's a creation based on something already existed. Manipulation is used to control it obviously but it's copying his attacking motion, which also means his speed. So a giant mass with his speed. Transmutation is used for the light, while Emission is used to teleport & then combined with the transmutation for the laser.
