Exceptionally moving. Bonding with a parent, emotionally powerful. An education as walls crumble, & windows open to actually know for the 1st time, realizing they too have/had a life previous to you altering at birth. Regrettably I missed my opportunity, missed true bonding relationship. The dreaded, would've, could've, should've golden moments

Lovely tribute! And a thoughtful look at how a relationship can change between a father and son, and how society's views on men, manliness, and a successful male life have changed over almost half century.

What a beautiful film. I have so many thoughts about teachers who tell their students things like, "you don't have a body for dance" as if it's meant to be instructive or helpful. It is anything but. It is destructive to the expressive human spirit that lies within each of us regardless of our eventual career paths. It's not a teacher's job to try to predict the future for their student. It is their job to help them learn their craft and to reach their potential. Period. I don't care if it's an amateur dance studio, pre-professional, or professional.

Unbelievably touching. So intelligent and emotionally charged at the same time. Love that father and son.

It takes a far stronger person to be themself in this world than to camouflage themselves to blend in with society. What a beautiful story

Absolutely beautiful story. The evolution of a father and son finally becomingtruly real and vulnerable to one another.Tears running down my face, when Dad decided he never wanted to ever stop dancing. Such vulnerable confessions bringing them full circle as father and son. Thank you to The New Yorker for their story, and deeply touching our hearts. ❤️❤️

Yet another multi-faceted, multi-level, integrated exploration of humanity itself. To aspiring artists; those who can, do. Those who can't, criticize.

Lovely film, but oddly incomplete. Not one frame about the mother. It's as if she didn't exist at all, as if the father gave birth to the son.
