I never want to be without Feminite du Bois. As also Fleurs d’Oranger and A La Nuit if possible. The most unusual ones for me are Tubereuse Criminelle and L’Orpheline. I’ll sparingly cherish this Tubereuse forever..
My 7 year old son just told me that he wants to wear 5 o’clock Gingembre to school in the morning. It’s climbing up my list based on his excitement. I’ve never been prouder :) Persolaise, congrats on 400 episodes! It has been such a pleasure! Your knowledge, passion, and charm have made my life more interesting and my perfume significantly collection more dynamic and exciting: Habit Rouge, Terre D’Hermes, Ambre Sultan just to name a few…to think I was wearing Bleu De Chanel exclusively before find your channel. :) You are appreciate by so many, Persolaise! Here’s to another 400 and 400 after that!
You have the smoothest most beautiful voice in the fragrance community. 👌Really enjoy hearing about Serge Lutens, a house I've still not yet ever tried.
Wow! Thank you so much for that 🙏 You’ve got such a treat in store when you finally enter the Lutens universe. Thank you so much for watching and writing.
I don't own a single SL, but I'm beginning to pay attention to them mostly because you have mentioned them in multiple videos. I have come across the house maybe 10 yrs ago, i don't remember what I sampled but deemed it "too classical" for me at the time. This week i had the pleasure of getting my nose on FDB, santal majuscule, Ambre Sultan and the Berlin one. They are all stunning. No bell jar collection in Australia, but can't wait to sample those in Paris. Jasmine is my favourite floral note so i look forward to a la nuit. Thank you for this. Great video as always ❤
Top 5 for me: 1. Tubereuse Criminelle 2. Fille en AIguilles 3. Rose de Nuit 4. Ambre Sultan 5. De Profundis Enjoyed this video and your recent FM ones!
New subscriber here 🙋🏻♀️ I grew up with Armani EDT from 1982 , which was extraordinarily good. I think my love for deep „oriental“ fragrances comes from it. Perfume to me is like poetry, it is an accessoire, that reflekts my charakter and my mood. Thanks to your channel I got my 90ml bottle of Shalimar out, which I have about 8 years now, and Ambre Sultan is comming in the next few days ❤️ lots of love from Germany!
Sheldrake is a master ... adore Douce Amere. My top three Lutens however, are Daim Blonde, Ambre Sultan and Fumerie Turque. My number one house, followed by Malle. Thank you for your work.
I have a life to live (duh) even amid a global pandemic, yet since I discovered your channel merely a short while ago, I have locked myself in a room bing watching your material. So much to take in. Thank you for this one in particular. A La Nuit is warm summer nights in Tehran in my grandparent's backyard, my brother and I chasing one another barefoot on wet grass, occasionally getting a blast of luminous night jasmine 💔. Would you consider or have you done anything on Chantecaille? Extremely feminine landscape though, I have to warn you.
Ha - well, you’re very welcome. I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. I did try all the Chantecaille scents quite some time ago, and I remember being impressed with the amber and the vetivert.
Great video, thank you ! I definitely agree on À la Nuit, Sarrasins, and Iris Silver Mist, wonderful sents. The one I've also loved for years is Fleurs d'oranger.
The fact that I'm only discovering your channel now is at the same time tragic, and wonderful. Looking forward to subscribing and seeing more of your channel! Cheers
I discovered your channel recently and your videos are awesome. I'm from South Korea, There were SL stores in Korea but they all withdrawn several years ago. Maybe because of the low sales volume since only few Koreans are into it. So sad that it's hard to try new one here. My best perfumes of SL are A la nuit, De Profundis, La fille de Berlin and Sergui. I haven't tried Sarrasins yet so it would be my next purchase of SL. Thanks for your recomendation. I think SL portrays noir in the best way above any other brands.
Fumerique Turque is the best of this brand's scents in my opinion. But I absolutely love this brand so much. Their fragrances are truly unique and don't seem to hop on bandwagons like some other brands do.
I’m so pleased to see both A la Nuit and Sarrasins in your list. It feels like a confirmation that I’m not weird adoring these and being part of my top 4 favorite fragrances which I feel represent ‘me’. When I found out A la Nuit was moving to the bell jar collection, I was able to back up some spraybottles to ensure it will stay in my life :-) Am really enjoying your channel, personality and the set-up of how you reflect and include your audience.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, Jen. And those two perfumes are excellent, as far as I’m concerned. I hope you enjoy my other videos 😊
Thank you for your kind reply. I am catching up on your videos after just finding your channel, I’m truly enjoying them. On Serge Lutens, I received a bottle of Un Lys this week and I find it lovely as well, makes me very happy. It was a blind buy - which I rarely do - but with Serge Lutens I dared to take the risk.
This is the first video of yours I saw and I saw many other videos afterwards but always come back to this because I just love serge Lutens! Also love all your Chanel and best of videos too!
Oh, only 7, it's so hard to decide! Mine are: Mandarine-Mandarin, Borneo 1834, Douce Amere, Gris Clair, Vetiver Oriental, Sarrasins and Chene. But my favourite 15 would be easier. Or 20. I guess I'm addicted to this brand :) Recent releases are a bit dissappointing, though...
So happy to see you review La Myrrhe. I purchased this at the Paris shop in the early 2000's. I was on a business trip and had colleagues with me so I felt the pressure of the lack of time I might normally have to make my choice but I was desperate to have a fragrance from the exclusive line. Something about the atmosphere of the interior drew me to this fragrance and I'm forever back in that space when I wear it. Love, love, love it. On a different tack how do you recommend accessing the fragrance from the bell jar? I normally use a pipette but I'm sure you will have a better option.
Thanks very much for watching, and I’m pleased you’re a fellow Myrrhe fan. Whenever possible, I use a pipette to pour some of the scent into a spray bottle.
Hello, I've just discovered your channel, and already I'm a fan. The content is so thorough and good, thank you ever so much for all those great videos. As for Serge Lutens, this is my own top five: Un Lys La Myrrhe Féminité du Bois Five o'Clock au Gingembre and and and... Spoilt for choice... Chêne ! Unfortunately I've never been able to smell Iris Silver Mist... I'm sure I'd love it, though, for I'm a fan of Hiris d'Hermès, for example, or Infusion d'Iris.
Just in love with SL. So many I have ... but my top 7 is: Daim blond Baptême de feu Five O’clock au gingembre Chypre Rouge Datura noir Un bois vanille Ambre Sultan Honorable mention: Féminité du bois🖤
Persolaise. so good running across your episode, especially dealing with my beloved Serge Lutens. Hermann a me cote; Ambre Sultan; and most of all, my first love from Serge Lutens: Borneo 1854, which never fails to draw people close to ask what IS that? And good conversations always ensue. John Benson Bapteme de feu also. Southern California.
I just re-watched this and the Hamlet/Lear and literary/film references made me think: "wouldn't it be fabulous if Persolaise made a top ten sort of list of scents that remind him (you) of Shakespeare's plays--maybe even broken down by tragedies, comedies, romances, histories, and 'problem' plays?!" That *would* be fabulous, especially given how cool your viewers are when it comes to literary allusions.
I adore MKK. Conjures image of a beautiful naked woman wrapped in a fur coat. Dangerous, but in a tiger cub kind of way. Not full on adult tiger, ready to maul you to death, kind of way. 🙂 Wore Khiel’s Musk for a decade. 2 yrs ago, picked up new bottle, shocked. It’s gone, reformulated. Experienced the watering down of many fav frags through the years, but nothing like what’s been done to Kiehl’s. It’s own website is full of angry reviews. At least there’s MKK. Love this video, all your videos. You make my day. ❤️
That’s so very, very kind of you, thank you. I really appreciate it. As for Kiehl’s... oh dear. My bottle is definitely more than two years old... I guess I need to go easy on it.
New Subscriber from the Coast of Maine, USA. I'm a Serge Lutens nut, adore his creations. Especially the Palais Royal versions. Will have to make mine a "Top 10 List." 😁 My first buys from Lutens were Cedre and Un Bois Sepia and they're still favorites, especially the latter. Favorites from those I own ... Un Bois Sepia, Gris Clair, Sa Majeste la Rose, Vetiver Oriental, and Clair de Musc. Also love ISM, Santal Blanc, Rose de Nuit, Chene and Fumerie Turque. Only have the Santal Blanc from those five. Would hop over five buildings for Rose de Nuit! Now on to your's ..... oh, no fair! ... MKK in the Palais Royal version! Yes, it's fabulous! Iris Silver Mist is spooky, somber, a dense fog of a masterpiece. I wrote a review years ago, a concept that someone on fragrantica either shares or has "borrowed", lol, that it is Vlad The Impaler signature scent. It's *just that sinister.* I've not smelled Sarrasins but see it is purple & has carnation, therefore, I must. And La Myrrhe, yes, it's lovely. That will be my SOTD. Great List! ~ thank you. :)
I wore the Shiseido version of Feminite du Bois many, many years ago. I’ve only just realized that Serge Lucent makes it, and hope it is as I remember it. I’m interested in rediscovering Lucent’s. I remember it being so unique and beautiful. Your review of it is wonderful and captivating.
Thanks very much indeed. I think most people would claim that it has changed, but I’d say you ought to check it out anyway, and then come back and share your verdict.
I also wore the sheseido version and was so upset to find out that they don’t make it anymore. Have you tried the Serge Lutens version yet? Can’t seem to find a tester anywhere.
I just know madame persolaise has The BEST collection! I had to come back and watch this video as I’m considering buying a lutens perfume. I just got a sample of the five o clock gingembre ( sorry if I butchered spelling). Well I fell in love! To me? It bothered me all night I knew I smelled like Something and it hit me coco Chanel no one mentions that but it most definitely does! The only difference was the tea I could sort of smell underneath it all. Anyway im looking for a new spicy cinnamon perfume and to me that wasn’t it sadly to me the ginger took over! Which lutens has a nice cinnamon note !?
Oh finally! An Uncle Serge special! I needed this. Though listing off a top 3 Lutens list is an unbearably cruel idea for me, my top ten sindicates just keep shoving each other off the shelf:D. So, maybe a top ten (and I'm still cringing to leave out Cuir Mauresque and Rose de Nuit), in no particular order and having no idea of what's still in production: Bois de Violette (okay, that one's pretty easy, sort of hands down no.1) Fumerie Turque Ambre Sultan Feminite du Bois Chene Rousse Datura Noir Fille en Aguilles Un voix Noire Chypre Rouge. Phew, that was hard! I love your idea on white florals in human hair. And Pan! Yes Sir, exactly. Though I'd really like to know where and how you wear MKK just so, casually:D. I always struggle to find any appropriate occasion to wear it. And I'm also always in for a great name. For the sake of further ideas: violets? boozy scents? And yes, skank, please. Thank you so much! That was delightful. We're lucky to have you.
Thank you so much: I feel blessed and lucky to have all of YOU. That’s a wonderful list, thank you. And thanks for your ideas for future videos. I must try to think of the most inappropriate context in which to wear MKK... 😂
Hi! I purchased my 1st bottle at the Paris Shoebox of Glamour the year it was released. I just wore some last night out of my 7th bottle! These are my favourite and I still order from the Paris store! Love your review. I currently have 8 of them going, though not all bell bottles! Ambre sultan is the one!
@@Persolaise hello again. Just finishing the lutens video and I'd adore to know how you are storing all these...I was a Niemans specialiste for a long time and natch accrued everything. Also purchased what we didn't carry! I keep in the coolest dark place I have access to and have resorted to fridge in cases, though never feel comfortable about it. Thanks for your love of the juice, as people don't understand us usually.
My favorite perfume House. Bois et musc, La fille de Berlin, Fille en Aiguilles, Clair de Musc, Datura noir are my very favorites. But really, they are all amazing. Regards from a frenchie!
Hi Mr P. My top Serge Lutens perfumes are; Fleurs D’oranger layered with Ecrin De fumee, layered together is unbelievable. Then it’s Chergui Then Ambre Sultan
I just recently got into Lutens, the one that struck me the most was Cedre. It's the first tuberose fragrance that I like on myself. It seems to not get much love though. I wonder how you feel about it.
Great video. One of my favourite brands, together with Malle. Why 7, though? These would be my top 7 from Lutens, in no particular order - Ambre Sultan Chergui Cuir Mauresque Encens et Lavande Tubereuse Criminelle La Fille de Berlin Fille en Aiguilles It was hard to leave out Daim Blond. I had MKK but sold it, maybe I was expecting a bit more. I didn't gel at all with ISM, much prefer Iris de Nuit (maybe it's the combination of angelica and galbanum that renders the iris bright, sharp and impeccable). I do have Feminite du Bois, but it's not among my favourites. I need to try A La Nuit and La Myrrh, and start wearing from my sample of Sarrasins. Stay safe!
You could be a perfume tester for frag houses as they try independent reviews after formula is created n before mass production.... Please forward this video to Serge Lutens Nice review ....
Hello from outback (middle of nowhere desert) Australia. Love serge lutens. None here. Thank you for this video. Top 3 Gris Clair Daim blond Jeux de peau
So, I am catching this 3 years late. Just pulled it off your Lauder redo by Fredric Malle comments section. I adore (literally find it mind bendingly incredible) Oriental Vetiver. Was forced to purchase for my husband and sons since I must smell it now. Hoping it makes your list, as I write this comment half way through
I will go at SL's shop (palais royal) on saturday (septembre the 5th), if you have and question about à fragrance, just tell me and I could ask them, usually they are really sweet and try to tell a lot !
Arriving late to this video! I am going to be travelling to London soon and I was wondering if you know where I might be able to sniff some of the bell-jar perfumes that are not so widely available in Canada. Does Liberty have them? Thank you for your wonderful work!
I’m halfway through your video and I have to add that my fleurs d’oranger label came off years ago but the bottle still behaves strangely. The cap becomes wet on the outside and sometimes dribbles down even if I’m not moving it. There’s still a third left it doesn’t appear to be evaporating. It’s on a shelf next to my bed so it can’t mess up any other bottles and some days I get the strongest whiff from it and some days zero. It’s like it’s haunted or possessed. Anyway majeste rose is my fave of the house
I had a Daim Blond bottle like that. The label slid right off. The cap was tightened but still was always wet around the neck. Manufacturing flaw, I guess. A subsequent bottle seems fine.
Thank you for a lovely video, full of useful information and emotions, as usual. ☺️ By the way I’ve noticed one thing: first part of the video about Ambre Sultan is named Amber Oud. I started thinking “hmm I don’t know a Lutens fragrance with this name” 😁
Thanks for writing, Xenia. Thanks also for pointing out the issue with the video. That's actually caused by the way TH-cam used to do automatic timestamps, but I think I've fixed it now. Many thanks :-)
Not silly at all. I believe you're meant to dab the bottom of the stopper onto your skin. Some people prefer to decant the perfume into a spray bottle. Many thanks for watching.
I've tried a few from Serge Lutens, and none really grabbed me. Muscs Koublai Khan did not live up to expectations, it's about as animalic as a kitten. Then l I tried Veilleur de Nuit. Ridiculously expensive, but I had to buy it and I don't regret the expense.
At the start when your viewers repeatedly mentioned Iris Silver Mist i thought ooh what a good name for an iris one. I always wonder about an iris perfume that would feel like moonlight and stars inside a blankety black night.. really vast and airy but still feeling enclosed. If you know a perfume that bottles an airy, moonlit night sky feeling do jot it please.
I have to be honest, i almost get no skanky animalics from Muscs Koublai Khan. all i get is a furry musk + powdery amber. It kinda reminds me of the smell of baby wipes if anything. but i do like it!
SL is perhaps my favourite house. Special memories of smelling each of the samples I acquired. It's always a thrill. My favourite and signature is Daim Blond. Special appreciation for Tubereuse Criminelle, Iris Silver Mist, and Un Lys. Oh, and Fumerie Turque brings back good memories. My husband's favourite is A La Nuit. I find MKK subtly sweet. I just wish there was a bit more development.
oh had to finish watching this episode! had to leave midway last week and im years behind! so im catching up! im new to Lutens and i love him! 1. Gigembre, Fleur d oranger, and the Amber Sultan i butchered the spellings pardon me!
Watched your video few times. So much thank you 😊😊 My budget gonna be crying next months... 😭😭 Would you be so kind and make an episode about gourmet parfumes? Now on isolation is better to smell than non stop eating 😊
@@Persolaise but fun! I can imagine you can't talk about 100 perfumes in one hour. You can split in 5 episodes of 20 perfumes 😉, which might be too long as well. Or at least a top 20 absolutes from your collection.
My favorite is Chergui, I love it so much. I need to revisit Ambre Sultan, but I don't think it works well on my skin. Its been a while, so I am curious to see if things have opened up to me. There are a lot of other Lutens that I would love to smell. Would you ever show your whole collection? How do you organize your perfumes? Thats so strange what you suggest about Kieha's musk veering on the dangerous, I find it comforting. I prefer smelling it on others rather than myself though.
Chergui is pretty good. Let me know if you manage to try Sultan again. Thanks very much for watching 😊 PS The words ‘organise’ and ‘my collection’ don’t really go together for me 😂
Do you feel that the perfumes are still good in their modern formulation ? I've not tried a Lutens in almost 6 years so I wonder how they fare in the new black label bottles.
Hi Persolaise. I have a few Serge Lutens perfumes. I particularly like l'Eau Froide, la Religieuse & Vitriole d'Oeillet. I would like to sample more of them.
Thanks for watching. They are The Perfume Bible, a book on the history of the British Society Of Perfumers and a book on the designs of Pierre Dinand. I’ve got a list of recommended perfume books on my blog: persolaise.com/shopping-guides
@@Persolaise Thank you for making these wonderful videos and for your writing. I've always liked scent but I've become obsessed over lockdown - maybe it's the fear that I'll catch Covid and lose my sense of smell so I'm cramming it all in just in case. Have you read The Drydown newsletter? It isn't active any more but I am really enjoying reading the archives.
The labels ALWAYS FALL OFF. Amber sultan is my ride or die. There is no jasmine that compares to a la Nuit pure jasmine with no apologies. It is perfection. I sometimes layer with jasmine heavy fragrance. I have 15 and I love them all
ooo! Irish Silvermist! How does that compare to La Vierge de Fer, as a purely ethereal fragrance, in your opinion? Thank you very much! (Yes, titles have a huge impact and are so fun!)
I'm still shopping for fragrance (online), I thought I'd try Etro's Heliotrope (arriving next week). Lots of companies are offering fragrance for delivery, and my favourite - Jovoy Mayfair - are reopening for online orders next week. I'm assuming that as 'health and beauty' go together, fragrance sneaks in as 'essential', and I'm sure Persolaise would agree that smelling good is an essential part of human wellbeing. Unless you're shopping for Aventus Cologne....would that be the smell of violation?
@@rmapcynan1039 I suggest you to try other perfumes from the same brand. It's still a good brand and, time by time, becomes more rare and niche... Maybe just Heliotrope wasn't for you. It's a very specific and unusual fragrance, quite extreme on the sweet /powdery facet. Definitely isn't easily the most's cup of tea....
I know a lot of people smell a color in perfume but I never have. I dont connect color with smell for whatever reason and when people describe a perfume in color its meaningless to me. To me its a completely independent experience. Idk
Is anyone familiar w/ YSL's Nu (I believe it's been put out of commission or at least reformulated), and if so are there parallels between Nu and Feminite Du Bois? I am not sure about Nu's notes but they smell almost the same on me, tho NU is not as musky and is a bit more linear.
I would say there are some similarities, particularly in the use of incense. But from memory, FdB is spicier. I'm sure I featured Nu in a video at some point. Thanks for watching.
I never want to be without Feminite du Bois. As also Fleurs d’Oranger and A La Nuit if possible. The most unusual ones for me are Tubereuse Criminelle and L’Orpheline. I’ll sparingly cherish this Tubereuse forever..

Rewatching as well 😋
A superb idea, thank you. But quite a challenge to pull off, I think.
Will have to make mine a "Top 10 List." 😁
My first buys from Lutens were Cedre and Un Bois Sepia and they're still favorites, especially the latter.
It's *just that sinister.*
I've not smelled Sarrasins but see it is purple & has carnation, therefore, I must. And La Myrrhe, yes, it's lovely. That will be my SOTD. Great List! ~ thank you. :)
Thank you so much for sharing yours, Holly. And thanks for subscribing.
Hello from Seoul, Korea. Love your video and thanks for sharing video about Serge Luten.
Thank YOU for watching.
Ambre sultan, cherqui, datura noir, sorry missed you live🙁hopefully next time I won’t forget. Love your videos👌
Thank you so much! 🙏 As you can see, I love Ambre Sultan too.
Years later, hi from New Zealand. Huge fan of French parfum, favourites are Malle's Scent of a Woman, & Lutens Chergoui &
La Couche Du Diable
Thanks very much for watching.
this is the fifth time i watch this video. Everytime i spray from my serge lutens , i would watch this video
Oh, wow! Thank you so much.
Your description of Iris Silver Mist is moving... makes me want to run to Mazzolari shop in Milano and do a Serge Lutens aromatherapy full tour!
Let me know if you manage to do that.
I will certainly do!@@Persolaise
To me? It bothered me all night I knew I smelled like
Something and it hit me coco Chanel no one mentions that but it most definitely does! The only difference was the tea I could sort of smell underneath it all. Anyway im looking for a new spicy cinnamon perfume and to me that wasn’t it sadly to me the ginger took over! Which lutens has a nice cinnamon note !?
Oooh, I can’t think, off the top of my head. Perhaps somebody else knows.
Thanks for watching.
Oh finally! An Uncle Serge special! I needed this. Though listing off a top 3 Lutens list is an unbearably cruel idea for me, my top ten sindicates just keep shoving each other off the shelf:D. So, maybe a top ten (and I'm still cringing to leave out Cuir Mauresque and Rose de Nuit), in no particular order and having no idea of what's still in production:
Bois de Violette (okay, that one's pretty easy, sort of hands down no.1)
Fumerie Turque
Ambre Sultan
Feminite du Bois
Chene
Rousse
Datura Noir
Fille en Aguilles
Un voix Noire
Chypre Rouge.
@@Persolaise 😄I'm pretty sure I'd be able to cut many teacher-parent conferences short with a little help from the great Khan! But that's just me:).
Ha! The mind boggles 🤣
Ambre Sultan is so majestic.
Thanks for watching.
I store them in any cool, dark place I can find… much to my wife’s consternation 😂
My favorite perfume House. Bois et musc, La fille de Berlin, Fille en Aiguilles, Clair de Musc, Datura noir are my very favorites. But really, they are all amazing. Regards from a frenchie!
Thank you so much for watching.
I have all of those except CdM. My absolute fave is Bois et Musc.
Hi Mr P.
My top Serge Lutens perfumes are; Fleurs D’oranger layered with Ecrin De fumee, layered together is unbelievable.
Then it’s Chergui
Then Ambre Sultan
Thanks very much for the tip.
I just recently got into Lutens, the one that struck me the most was Cedre. It's the first tuberose fragrance that I like on myself. It seems to not get much love though. I wonder how you feel about it.
I haven’t smelt it for ages, I’m afraid.
Thanks very much for watching.
Ambre Sultan is pure heaven. Now that I have it, I don't really know what to do with Grand Soir...
Enjoy both!
Thanks very much for watching.
Great video. One of my favourite brands, together with Malle. Why 7, though? These would be my top 7 from Lutens, in no particular order -
Ambre Sultan
Chergui
Cuir Mauresque
Encens et Lavande
Tubereuse Criminelle
La Fille de Berlin
Fille en Aiguilles
It was hard to leave out Daim Blond.
Stay safe!
Thanks for sharing your list, and for watching 😊 At least we have one favourite in common!
You could be a perfume tester for frag houses as they try independent reviews after formula is created n before mass production....
Please forward this video to Serge Lutens
Nice review ....
Ha!
Thank you so much for watching 😊
I think you would love Le Labo Musc 25, reminds me of MKK, but more clean, sunshine-like and wearable
Thanks for the tip.
Hello from outback (middle of nowhere desert) Australia. Love serge lutens. None here. Thank you for this video.
Top 3 Gris Clair
Daim blond
Jeux de peau
Thank YOU for watching. And a great big Hello right back to you.
So, I am catching this 3 years late. Just pulled it off your Lauder redo by Fredric Malle comments section. I adore (literally find it mind bendingly incredible) Oriental Vetiver. Was forced to purchase for my husband and sons since I must smell it now. Hoping it makes your list, as I write this comment half way through
Oh, dear... you must have been disappointed when you reached the end of the video. Sorry!
@@Persolaise only slightly. Your videos are so enlightening with wonderful descriptions of each fragrance that I can’t be sorry for listening.
Ambre Sultan is really herbal and salty i noticed, unusual amber. May be a little too artistic for me to casually wear. A classic all around
It's just gorgeous. You might come to enjoy it.
Would you ever do a review of a selection of chypres? Modern take on old school.
Ooooh... that’s a tempting idea. Thank you!
Persolaise Perfumes - also Parfums Prissana.
👍
I will go at SL's shop (palais royal) on saturday (septembre the 5th), if you have and question about à fragrance, just tell me and I could ask them, usually they are really sweet and try to tell a lot !
That’s so kind - thank you!
Arriving late to this video! I am going to be travelling to London soon and I was wondering if you know where I might be able to sniff some of the bell-jar perfumes that are not so widely available in Canada. Does Liberty have them? Thank you for your wonderful work!
As far as I'm aware, the only place in London that stocks any bells jars (and it is a tiny selection) is Harrods.
Have a wonderful trip.
@@Persolaise First stop, Harrods! Thank you for your help!
Ooooh, how curious 🤨
Thank you so much for watching.
Hello! This may seem like a silly question, but how do you apply the perfumes from the bell jars? Thanks for this video. 🖤
Not silly at all.
I believe you're meant to dab the bottom of the stopper onto your skin.
Some people prefer to decant the perfume into a spray bottle.
Many thanks for watching.
@@Persolaise Thank you for your reply! ☺️
My favourite brand. Ambre Sultan is my desert island fragrance, followed by Muscs Koublaï Khan and Fumerie Turque.
I adore Ambre Sultan.
Thanks very much for watching.
@@Persolaise Only just found your channel and have subscribed. :)
Much appreciated 🙏
I've tried a few from Serge Lutens, and none really grabbed me. Muscs Koublai Khan did not live up to expectations, it's about as animalic as a kitten. Then l I tried Veilleur de Nuit. Ridiculously expensive, but I had to buy it and I don't regret the expense.
Yes, that one is quite pricey.
Thanks for writing.
Nice informative Video. I will be in Paris next week and wanted to know whether I can get MKK in Bell Jar from their Palais Royal Store?
I honestly don’t know. I’d say it would be best to contact the brand directly.
Thanks for watching.
@@Persolaise - Just bought Le Myrrhe Bell Jar from Palais Royal store. Thanks once again.
My top seven would be (in no order): Arabie, Muscs Koublaï Khän, Mandarine-Mandarin, Miel de Bois, Bornéo 1834, Bourreau des Fleurs, Jeux de Peau.....
Wow! That’s quite a list 😊
Thank you so much for watching.
Thank you ,more intellectual assessment
Thanks very much for watching.
Hello Persolaise! The most poetic channel you have here!
What do you think of Serge Lutens’s Serge Noire? And De Profundis?
Oh never mind you mentioned Serge Noire in the 25:00 mark! Thank you!
Not at all: thank YOU for watching.
Thanks for watching. I’ll certainly give it some thought 😊
I have to be honest, i almost get no skanky animalics from Muscs Koublai Khan. all i get is a furry musk + powdery amber. It kinda reminds me of the smell of baby wipes if anything. but i do like it!
I think quite a few people 'read' the scent in that way.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks very much for watching. Yes, it's certainly one of the most praiseworthy houses.
Never tried any Serge Lutens fragrance.... what would be a great first pick to try?
Well... any of my Top 7, I guess.
Thanks for watching.
oh had to finish watching this episode! had to leave midway last week and im years behind! so im catching up! im new to Lutens and i love him! 1. Gigembre, Fleur d oranger, and the Amber Sultan i butchered the spellings pardon me!
It's a great brand to explore.
Watched your video few times. So much thank you 😊😊
My budget gonna be crying next months... 😭😭
Would you be so kind and make an episode about gourmet parfumes?
Now on isolation is better to smell than non stop eating 😊
Thanks very much for watching.
Excellent idea! Thank you 😊

I so want to find the smell of the movie Chocolate 😊
I am sure you have more than 100 bottles in your collection so please do a top 100 from your collection for Episode 100!
Oh my word... that would be too difficult 😂
@@Persolaise but fun! I can imagine you can't talk about 100 perfumes in one hour. You can split in 5 episodes of 20 perfumes 😉, which might be too long as well. Or at least a top 20 absolutes from your collection.
are you trying to kill him? LOL
Noooooooooo! Hey, I did not ask for a full collection video. Although I would like it 👌
😂 I wrote a whole book and couldn’t keep myself to below 100!
Thanks very much for watching 😊
PS The words ‘organise’ and ‘my collection’ don’t really go together for me 😂
@@Persolaise I will :)
Have you tried Nuit de Cellophane? Because of the Osmanthus a lot of my fellow Asians love it. Interested in your impression of it.
Yes, but I haven't smelt it for a while. I'd have to revisit it before passing a comment.

sadly i wont smell a malle because i canty afford a malle :( though I KNOW i would love portrait of a lady as it has many of the notes i love
Portrait is very special indeed.
Do you feel that the perfumes are still good in their modern formulation ? I've not tried a Lutens in almost 6 years so I wonder how they fare in the new black label bottles.
From what I've smelt, they're all the same.
Hi Persolaise. I have a few Serge Lutens perfumes. I particularly like l'Eau Froide, la Religieuse & Vitriole d'Oeillet.
I would like to sample more of them.
It’s a very strong brand.
Thanks for watching.
Very impressive I’m curious to know the name of the books in front of you?
Thanks for watching.
They are The Perfume Bible, a book on the history of the British Society Of Perfumers and a book on the designs of Pierre Dinand.
I’ve got a list of recommended perfume books on my blog: persolaise.com/shopping-guides
I've shied away from this line because they're gone from my skin quickly. Some interesting compositions though.
Ah, interesting. Such a shame if they don’t last on you.
I love Jeaux De Peau (the mad wheat/milk one) but I can't find it anywhere now...
Oh, I wonder if it's been discontinued.
Many thanks for watching.
No, I don’t think I have read that.
Many, many thanks for your kind words.
Thanks! I am looking for a purely ethereal fragrance with a slightly youthful undertone. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Thanks for watching.
You may find some helpful ideas on Persolaise.com.
The labels ALWAYS FALL OFF. Amber sultan is my ride or die. There is no jasmine that compares to a la Nuit pure jasmine with no apologies. It is perfection. I sometimes layer with jasmine heavy fragrance. I have 15 and I love them all
Thanks very much indeed for watching.
ooo! Irish Silvermist! How does that compare to La Vierge de Fer, as a purely ethereal fragrance, in your opinion? Thank you very much! (Yes, titles have a huge impact and are so fun!)
I would say Iris Silver Mist is a bit too grand and baroque to be called ethereal.
@@Persolaise Cool! Thank you! (I see I misspelled it; it's Iris, not Irish, haha!)
😂
Well, I’m really pleased that someone’s still shopping.
Thank you so much for watching.
Heliotrope by Etro is unique.
@@danielabassano9528 It stank on me.Put me off Etro for life.
Brilliant!

@Persolaise Perfumes I hope get it someday soon yesterday was my birthday and spent hours looking for it
Is anyone familiar w/ YSL's Nu (I believe it's been put out of commission or at least reformulated), and if so are there parallels between Nu and Feminite Du Bois? I am not sure about Nu's notes but they smell almost the same on me, tho NU is not as musky and is a bit more linear.
I would say there are some similarities, particularly in the use of incense. But from memory, FdB is spicier. I'm sure I featured Nu in a video at some point.
