Thanks for the comments. It is a beautiful firearm. I hadn't even seen it in person when I ordered it, but I like my other Ruger firearms, and had plenty of faith. The biggest problem was waiting months upon months for it to show up. I may do some range videos in the future. I'll depend on how I can make it work at a public range, and have everything clear.
I would like to get a Les Baer at some point. However I will say that for a "decent" or "average priced" 1911, it is a good looking and nice shooting firearm. I was able off hand at 15 yards with basic ball ammo to print a decent group for my first time shooting it. I had to wait a long time for it, but I am happy with it. Thanks for watching
in the 6-$700 range you have the choices of. SR1911. Kimber Custom II, Magnum Research, Remington R1 Enhanced, Sig XO and below. I have handled all of these they are great. But... its all up to you. I think they are all worth a look and its up to the buyer. But I will say. They all have very smooth actions.
I have had no issues or malfunctions of any kind. However I have only put 100 rounds though it as of 9-1-2012. I have very few firearms that have had any malfunctions though, as I believe that buying quality firearms, keeping them as clean as possible, and having them properly lubricated will keep malfunctions low. Thank you for your comment,
When I first saw it new, it was indeed cocked and locked. However I can not say if it ships from Ruger, this way. When I first inspected the firearm it had already been inspected at the minimum by the gun dealer. It is possible that they left it in this condition. I will say that I keep it in this condition myself now also.
"Springfield 1911" is vague. They make everything from the bare bones MilSpec all the way up to the FBI issued Professional model. The SR1911 is probably about on par with a base model Springfield "Loaded" model.
Thank you, I appreciate your comment. Please feel free to subscribe if you want to. I plan on having more videos and info as things progress. This is actually my first 1911 also.
Unfortunately I do not have a Springfield 1911. So I can make an informed, first hand opinion. However, I do plan on getting a Springfield 1911, and will let you know then how they compare. Without having them both but having many Springfields and many Rugers... I can say that they are both great companies, that in my opinion put out fine firearms. I have never been displeased with the quality or performance or either.

Nice over-review of the gun. I really would like this gun to add to my collection. Never had a 1911.
