Bought one a few weeks ago, have put about 100 rounds thru it, with zero problems. I own lots of 1911's, they are my favorite handguns. This one beats them all. It is light enough to carry with the aluminum frame but has the full length slide. The trigger measures 3.2 pounds from the factory. It is not the least bit snappy. It comes back perfectly in your hand when it recoils and is very accurate. Got 1911's that are more high dollar than this one but none better. I own striker fired pistols and revolvers but this one is my new favorite
The Ruger SR1911 in 10MM packs a punch 🤜🏻 can’t ever go wrong with the classic 1911 style, I am a big Ruger fan American made when it comes to the American firearm manufacturers I feel like everyone talks about Smith and Wesson or Springfield, but I think Ruger deserves more recognition as a American manufacturer I think they are solid.
Most people never give it a thought, and don't even realize it, but the accuracy and ease of use of the 1911 platform comes from the trigger. In a 1911 platform the trigger pulls straight rearward, while in non-1911 platforms the trigger has a pivot at the top. This means than non-1911 guns tend to rock the barrel downward as you pull the trigger. The 1911 on the other hand pulls rearward but doesn't rock, keeping the barrel on target for the length of the trigger pull. Most shooters don't even think about it but they compensate for the gun's rotation during the trigger pull....but that's not necessary with a 1911. John Moses Browning was a seriously underrated genius. He knew that "gods live in the details."
Bought mine the week ruger advertised it for sale. Great gun at a great price compared to ruger’s other 1911s. Very light weight and accurate. 100% love this pistol
I originally bought the SR1911 Stainless a few months ago. That was the first time i introduced myself to the 1911 models, totally fell in love. I just bought this specific lightweight model for carry. I wish I had gotten into 1911's years ago. Thanks for the review, I'm confident I'll love this as a carry.
Hey is this light weight model as reliable as the original steel sr 1911? I've had 2 of the regular Ruger's and they were nearly flawless I was thinking about one of these to save over 300 dollars.
@adamshaw8214 So I just recently picked it up. I haven't gone to the range with it. If it's like all my other Rugers, then I wouldn't hesitate to say yes, it's just as reliable. I'm going to the range soon, so I'll be able to give you a better update later.
Hi !! Enjoyed your video !! I just bought this particular Ruger, and completely agree with your assessment of the qualities of the 1911 design & function ! I own two other 1911's, and would not trade them for any other format semi-auto pistol. That's not to say I have no other pistols, as I have quite a few options including Sig, S&W, Kel-Tec, Colt, Springfield Armory and some others ! But, when I leave the house, 98% of the time it is one of my 1911's you'll find me carrying ! I've only had this Ruger out twice so far, and about 150 rounds total. It is flawless so far, right out of the box !! I have an Officer size, that may conceal a little better, but if that is not a requirement for what I'm wearing, I'm pretty sure You'll find this 1911 on my person any time I'm going casual !! There is nothing, even after over 100 years, that even comes close to the 1911's design !!! I believe that Confidence in your handgun of choice is imperative for a carry weapon !! When I pull that pistol for use, I know that John Browning was a real firearms design genius !!! 1911's feel like they were custom made, just for my hand ! Thanks; Jim K.
Besides being a great shooter, I chose the lightweight SR1911 for a couple features. #1 I love the integral plunger tube. Hate stock plunger tubes and end up silver soldering them in place because mine always came loose. #2 No extra grooves on the front of the slide. Damned things look like crap. #3 only 3 oz heavier than a Commander! Makes a big difference after a day packing it.
The FBI should ditch the ballistics gel and make this the new standard. 1 used welding glove, 2 inches of partially frozen chicken, and a folgers can of water lol
A good general review of a fine Ruger Sr1911. The SR1911 that you have is the "Lightweight" version that weighs in at about 8-ounces lighter than the full stainless-steel SR1911. It also incorporates a titanium feed ramp; a carry over from the "Lightweight Commander Style". These things contribute to the overall lighter carry weight, a tad more perceived felt recoil due to that lighter weight, and high reliability. Ruger did it right when they introduced the SR1911 back in 2011.
Hey, thanks for the video! I enjoyed it!I found you because I searched for this model 6792 Ruger. A dear friend introduced me to 1911s several years ago…. Concerning the ballistics of the .45 ACP compared to other calibers, he explained in this humorous way! He said, .45 ACP is like those big old ceramic ashtrays everyone’s aunt used to have on her coffee table. He said they are big and heavy and if I pick it up and throw it across the room at you it won’t move very fast but, if I hit you in the head with it….. you are gonna be hurt!! So, we always referred to our 230 grain .45 ACP rounds as the “flying ashtrays”!! LOL 🤣
I have two of these, a stainless full size and the lightweight commander style. Now thatRuger has come out with the lightweight full size, it looks like there may be another one in my future. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for posting this! There’s plenty of videos on the model with the wood grips, but I couldn’t find any for this lighter weight model with the g10 grips. A store near me has these on sale for $579 so I think I’m going to pick one up tomorrow
I bought mine a week ago but i haven't gotten a chance to take it to the range. But i tell you. The first time i held it i loved it. I cleaned it and lubricated it well and even got a masc shoulder holster. Gotta save up money for ammo
I love my 1911. When I had the chance to acquire one I went with the Colt Traditional with the short trigger. I love the way steel frame pistols shoot better than polymers. My fave 9mm is my CZ 75b.
Kool vid...i have the two tone commander size...i carry it outside the waistband every day...very accurate...a little heavy...one 8rd mag in the pistol & 2 7rd mags on my opposite side...if i need more then i need more practice...lol
When I seen the gun was empty and cleared it really put me at ease I took my vest off I thought u were gonna shoot me thru the screen thank u for showing it’s empty
Great video. Beautiful land and beautiful firearm. Can you or anyone else speak to the aluminum frame of this Ruger 1911 6792? Does the difference in weight contribute to a lot more felt recoil when compared to another Ruger sr1911 with a steel frame?
I have not shat the steel frame Ruger model, but I have shot the Rock Island, and I can’t tell much difference in the recoil. The aluminum sure is a whole lot easier to carry a lot, due to the weight difference
Just got mine. New out of th3 box the trigger rattles. It moves around like a baby tooth. Customer service line goes to voicemail. After searching the web, this is a common issue. What else did Quality Control miss?
Great video, I have one that I bought three year's ago full size 1911. Have commander on will call at gun shop that I will go get this weekend.🤠👍 SR 1911 rocks !!!
@2A Truth I certainly hope so. It was at a great price. They also had the Springfield Ronin for LEO and military only for 695.99, and I slept on that one too, and they ran out. Everywhere else, both guns are 200 dollars more than what I found them on GT distributors for.

They both seem to be very reliable, but if I had to pick, I would say that I like the Ruger a little bit better. Mostly because it is a little lighter weight, and it has nicer sights
