God, the car noise in this broadcast is just awesome, just how it should be. These days, on race replays, the cars sound like they are 20 miles away. Love this.
Indeed. That is why I will never understand the haters. You wanna have an exciting race, right? Which entertains you from the first lap to the last. This was the way. Yet people were bitching about it...smh
I’ll be the first to admit back then I was never a fan of tandem racing but looking back it wasn’t as bad as people made it seem. I’ll always prefer pack racing but tandem racing was a lot better than people made it out to be
Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman tried for multiple laps to get Tony the point for leading. The championship came down to a tie. That's really how important that lap lead was.
@@ericprice5751 no skill in making sure that the cars are hooked together for lots of laps around ~200mph? While the pusher has to get fresh air somehow so the engine doesn't overheat. Yeah sure :D Just a casual sunday drive. Don't care what Dale Jr. says, numbers don't lie. I bet if he could have won at least one tandem race he would think different ;)
@@balintk.9373 if you the pusher what is your job...to push and follow wherever the lead car goes. Pushie go where there’s a lane to the front while dragging the brake/lifting. Again no skill. Pack racing you gotta be strategic in making your moves to the front picking the best line and best cars to work with you. Why do you think start and park teams did so good in the tandem
@@ericprice5751 Yes, that is why you see 1\3 of lead changes compared to tandem racing, no lower tier cars running up in the field. Also frequently freight trains for 20-30 laps. Indeed exciting races. 2012 was the best year, it was a nice mixture of pack racing and tandem.
In 2019 they were almost 10-20 mph FASTER at the plate tracks, hitting 210 down the backstretch in the draft. But any other track yeah they need to stop restricting the cars.
@@wfryemusic1576 yeah it hurts to see what nascar is doing with the new cars. They are going away from what stock car racing is. Back the. They had more horsepower at all tracks. Fewer big wrecks and a million more people at the races
2011 was a magical year in NASCAR
Except for Edwards not winning the championship
2011 is the ultimate throwback for me.
It was the first NASCAR season I ever watched in its entirety.
Hello
How are you doing
Bowyer & Burton owned everyone on the last laps. I loved it.
Damn this was a decade ago?? I remember watching this live. Damn.
Same lol I was a freshman in high school I feel old as hell watching this
This race was so heartbreaking cause my Dad works at caterpillar and wanted to see the sponsor win
To see it come that close was very painful
Hello
And Caterpillar to this day continues to be winless ever since Ward Burton’s New Hampshire win in July of 2002.
@@anthonydeloreto3881 how are you doing
If it wasn’t for Jack Roush & manufacturer orders, Jeff Gordon & Trevor Bayne would’ve easily duked it out for the win.
Oh this Gordon fan was LIVID when everybody bailed on Jeff on the final restart, and he went from top 5 to like 26th.
@@noahcoleman5556 27th is where he finished.
Yeah Trevor made a dumb move there cause all it did was stack up the field. He shouldve ignored everyone in his ear and worked with Jeff
Unfortunate reality of manufacture politics in nascar
A Race that's underrated and that i thought was up there as one of the best races of the year
I just realized that this race started after the death of Dan Wheldon I'm so surprised.
Thanks to NASCAR for another race from the 2011 season.

I was sad he didn't win
i know there is people that hated the tandem racing but you gotta admit it did provide alot of lead changes and great finishes as well

My last restriction plate win, man it was a good one.
I wish they would upload the 2012 Good Sam 500
I would’ve preferred that too. But this is whatever 🤷🏻♂️
Gooooo DAVE BLANEY!!!!!!!!!!!
Please bring back tandem racing. Literally anybody could win these races. Was super intense from the 1st lap to the last.
Please no I hated it as much Dale jr did. There’s no skill in that

Can I recommend for next Talladega throwback the 1997 Diehard 500?

Love the tandems

I would have picked a old truck or bush dega race
