  • WARNING: WEAR PROPER PPE WHILE DOING THIS! I SUGGEST USING A FACE SHIELD AND LATEX GLOVES!
Engine shown in video is a Onan B48G on a Cub Cadet 1912 (982)
This is my method I’ve used for years. This will work on all Kohler K and M series (K161-M18) and Flathead Onan engines.
Tools used in this video are readily available at most auto parts stores.
YOU MUST REPLACE GASKETS! Kits are readily available online, I got this one for $10!
Valve lash speculations can be found online or in the service manual. There are many free downloadable manuals out there.
Lapping and adjusting valve lash once a year will improve starting and overall performance.
This is my first instructional video, so it is crude and simple. I’m not uploading it to make money, but im trying to help others. Thanks for watching!

Onan says to NOT lap valves because they run two different angles on the valve vs seat. 44 and 45 degrees to give a sharper contact patch. At least on my ccka.
