  • This video is about Hoover Linx Lithium Vacuum 18650 Battery Charge Count Reset.
    Most battery packs have a charge board (BMS). This board protects your battery cells from overheat, overcharge, short circuit and it balances your battery cells. Sometimes the manufacturer gives a charge count limit on those boards. Even the batteries are still in good condition, because of this charging limit you cant charge battery and they force you to buy a new battery. In this video, you can find how to reset this charging count on 18650 lithium battery-powered Hoover Linx battery pack

    Well I was on the same situation 20 v lithium life and I end up buying 2 more batteries an after a few months of use same problem, but came across to this video and I give a try an honestly works for every single one
    Thank you for the video 😁

    How do you short the board? It looks like you are using your turned off multimeter probes on P1 and P5, and then a 3rd thing is quickly touching 1 of the probes. What is that?
    Great video thanks!

    So did anyone get any further with their onepwr battery? I have lights 1 and 3 on. I took the battery apart all the 18650 cells are above 3.2v. I can do this reset on pins 1 and 3 and all 5 lights come up and then go off. Still no different though.

    The battery on my Vax has a charging board almost identical to yours. The battery measures fully charged but the output is 10v with no current capability. Tried shorting the pins suggested but no change. Have you any ideas?

      Might be bms damaged. You can basically buy a 18V bms circuit but you need to charge it an external power supply

    what screws weere in the cover plate? I tried the torx bits that I have but nothing fits. It's not metric or regular hex or phillips.

    I wonder if this would work on our 21.6 V Li-Ion battery pack for an older Hoover Cruise ultra lite cordless vacuum cleaner?
    We bought it used and it seemed to work pretty well for the first few times and then suddenly it started to shut off after about 5 or so seconds of use. I've tried charging the batteries twice and it still shuts off.

      It seems you might need battery cells inside, be casefull when you are working on lithium batteries

      @@tipstricksreviews4481 I still have that vacuum but we've bought a new one since then. I still may try to change the battery cells inside, I'll be careful, I've watched several videos on changing lithium cells, thank you...

    Newbie needs help. On voltmeter between pins 1&2 and between pins 1&5 there are 5 volts before shorting and still 5 volts after shorting. I'm certain that I shorted (tried several times). Is voltage after shorting supposed to be a different than 5volts?

    • @tipstricksreviews4481
      @tipstricksreviews4481  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Voltage doesn’t change. Its a PIC microcontroller. You can type the model number on google and be sure which legs are for reset.

  • @simonlinser8286
    @simonlinser8286 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol you shorted every pin! I got what you're saying but i thought it was funny to watch as you list numbers, but i think you meant don't short anything else besides those 5 program pins

    What about the battery that has 10 cells like mine !

  • @dwhela8856
    @dwhela8856 ปีที่แล้ว

    Be Careful, I shorted 1-2 and 1-5, then a chip on the board became extremly hot and will not cool down, and the battery will not even work in the vacuum now even with 18v since I manually charged it before shorting the test pins. This did not work for me and now battery is useless.

    Anyone know how to do this on a onepwr battery, charger is coming up with a fault All cells checked and voltage is 3.7 on all of them. Is this a counter issue. No idea how to reset counter.

    • @tipstricksreviews4481
      @tipstricksreviews4481  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have any onepower battery to test. Alternatively, you can buy a BMS circuit and install a charging hole and then charge it externally. Be careful when you deal with lithium batteries.

      I'm having a similar problem with my OnePWR 4.0 pack (PCB P/N 280796003). The design of the board is so complex - there's even UART debug through-holes! - but the controller chip is different (824J, Z15 08, 20051A), I've not been able to find a spec sheet yet. I suspect the cell monitoring is a poor design, allowing one or more cells to fall below a safety threshold (in my drained pack, one cell was down to 3.15 V where the others were all 3.57 V), and is then setting a "do not charge" value in ROM. Even after manually charging the cells to a "good" voltage of 3.62 V, manually balancing them with a bench power supply, it still refuses to charge.

      @scottiemellotie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ChristopherWoods did you find any solution to this? I have replaced a cell from my onepwr pack with low voltage today and then balanced the cells but like you, I found the charger still shows the pack as "defective" when attempting to charge. This video gave me hope that the BMS may be resetable but I haven't found anyone with an equivalent reset method for the onepwr packs.
