If you pay attention to all the little details, you can work out what actually happened to lars. You can hear a crack when he hits the rock, signifying he cracked or probably broke his skull, backed up by the tear through the skull on his shirt. Then, with the explosion, some shards went through his right eye into his brain, hence why it's covered up when he falls. This is why when he heals there is a scar, and when he heals there is a scar on his skull shirt's eye. The animators really put in all sorts of little details.
That's like... two killing blows. No fair, man.

I personally think the episode should have ended right as Steven realized Lars was dead and leave a cliffhanger for the next episode, still very sad

Well if lars was revived at the beginning of the episode then the build up of this episode would be pointless, and it’s not like the off-colours or Steven could do anything without him

I feel like I'm the only one who wasn't to surprised with Larz's death and ressurection. From the second Steven started to tear up I was like "oh he's gonna heal him." But that music was really moving.

i didn't watch any spoilers so when i watched off colors, i cried because of how Lars died. i didn't realize Steven could bring him back to life with tears instead of his saliva.

I really think that it would’ve been best if they left him dead because it really would’ve been a really big thing because they can’t ever really kill someone off on screen and this would’ve been one of those moments where his healing powers would convince you he’d be healed but nothing happens. Personally I think that would’ve been a big change for the show that even makes it better.

Actually, I think they just wanted a reason to reveal his tear ability, some things about Lion, and also give Steven a quick way back to Earth.
My reaction to Lars' death:
WHAT ?! NO! THIS IS A KIDS SHOW! YOU ARENT ALOWED TO DO THIS! THIS IS A FLIPPING KIDS SHOW! ESPECIALLY NOT AFTER HE JUST REDEEMED HIMSELF! Steven, spit on him. SPIT ON HIM GOD DAMMIT! JUST SPIT ON-wait a minute are the tears healing him?........but that was Rose's power. Steven has spit, not tears. But hey, right now I don't care because Lars is alive........and apparently pink now...........but the scar is cool

I think they could have at least split lars' death, and his revival between the two episodes, it kind of took away from the moment, to have him be dead, and revived 5 seconds later
