    WOW ! The original DJI googles, those are a lot nicer than my Eachine EV-800D, and much better than the box-googles you put your phone in. Thanks for the info

    Hi! How much gmdelay does it gives to the video? If you can not measure it, it is enough if you tell if it is flyable or can feel the delay. Thx!

    • @El_Smeghead

      About the same latency as the DJI Phantom FC40.
      You won't want to be flying close to anything, but it's ideal for open areas.

    • @El_Smeghead

      You don't need an external WiFi as such.
      The phone streams the video of its screen to the Firestick which then feeds through the hdmi to the goggles.

    • @El_Smeghead

      What would be the point of sticking a camera inside the goggles to record the screen while flying?
      1. It would look shit.
      and 2. Be a fucker to set up.
      I can assure you that it DOES work, and I fly regularly with this setup, especially on SAR missions.
      The only thing that's fake here is your own knowledge.

    • @El_Smeghead

      It's not great, but it works. And for a relatively slow camera drone, it's adequate for various use cases.

      @@El_Smeghead I have the Mavic pro (THE ORIGINAL) and I find the latency acceptable for filming purposes, otherwise I fly racing quads, is it comparable? Or much much worse? Or do you experience?

    • @El_Smeghead

      @@jeffoh5787 I wouldn't use this method to fly anything over 25mph, especially around obstacles/trees etc.
      I use mine with the Mini 1 & Mini 2 connected via the FireStick, whereas I plug directly into the controller with the Phantom 4 (I did the HDMI Module Mod) and M2ED. The Mavic Pro Platinum I just connect wirelessly as intended.
      I've done successful orbits with the Minis through the FireStick although it takes a little longer to get the stick speeds correct, so what I'll do is approach the subject in the goggles and then fly any manoeuvres directly off the screen.
      I mainly use the goggles for lost dog searches for Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK, and the goggles give me an HD view on what appears as a huge screen, so it speeds up searching immensely. You can pick out rabbits from 400ft through the goggles, whereas they are completely missed on a 7" screen such as my phone or the DJI RC or RC2.
