Stefan Studer you and me both brother. Started with Metallica and SOAD... Now I've gone to countless death metal shows and moshed, stage dived, and crowd surfed at all of them. The journey never ends.... let it take
I was laughing at their comments about Metallica having "special access". That didn't really happen until the "Black Album". When they recorded Ride the Lightning they were still pretty much broke nobodies. Still a classic though and the one time I saw Metallica in concert they opened with Creeping Death.
1984. That's the year this song came out, with their second album, "Ride The Lightning". The singer James Hetfield wrote this when the band's equipment was stolen one day and among the stolen goods was an amplifier that belonged to him. It was a very special one, because his mother gave it to him as a last present before she died of cancer. He got so sad and depressed that he wrote this song.
His mother died in 1979, when he was 16 years old, which was two years before he and Lars formed Metallica. His father, on the other hand, was the one who died in late 1996.
In the 90s I was a teenager struggling with depression and suicide. The music you guys are reviewing is the music that kept me alive. That’s the truth.
The black album saved my life. I was strung out...and then this hit. The world seamed acceptable. The music gave me strength to deal without the drugs. Metallica for Life!!! For Real!!!
@stavros man So now you are saying metallica is pop? Please tell me that they are not thrash anymore xD I like some slayer songs too but hate elitist fans
"I wrote the song at a friend's house in New Jersey. I was pretty depressed at the time because our gear had just been stolen, and we had been thrown out of our manager's house for breaking shit and drinking his liquor cabinet dry. But we also got hundreds of letters from kids telling us how they related to the song and that it made them feel better."
Last year, a 15yr old of me was struggling with depression and suicidal tendencies, my family didn't know anything about that, but Metallica and God saved me from myself

This is, hands down, one of my absolute favorite songs from them. This got me through so many dark times in my teenage years. If I was feeling like I wanted to hurt myself, this song went on, I’d pick up my guitar and just go. By the time it was over, I’d be ok. This song has so much emotion and meaning to me wrapped up into it than it just being “some song”. It was made in 1984 and Metallica back then didn’t have access to the best of the best. This was only their second album and it would be another few years before they hit the big time. The reason it’s so polished and clean sounding is mainly because Lars and James are, or at least were back then, absolute perfectionists. Everything had to be perfect and done exactly right and sounding amazing or they did it over. This was True from the playing, to the recording to the mixing and mastering. BTW, when this album was written and recorded, James and Lars were around 20. Let that sink in....they were 20 years old and writing and performing at that level. It’s mind boggling... Thank you so much for doing this song, it’s saved my life on multiple occasions....
Krieger Koenig I really, truly appreciate that, thank you. I’m 44 now, have a wonderful wife I’ve been married to for 23 years and have a 21 year old daughter. While it all hasn’t been smooth sailing, I’m extremely grateful I made it through those darker years and came out the other side. Metallica was a huge part of that happening and in January of 2009 I actually got to tell them that in person on the Death Magnetic tour.
The song was written by James about the time his mother died when he was like 15. She gave him a gutair and years later it was stolen . So the song is about that pain he was experiencing. I used to play this on drums . My Favorite.
Guys...notice there's no music video for this song? MetallicA refused to do videos before "One". They weren't about image or looks. They got no radio air play. They got famous JUST off their music & talent. When they DID start doing videos, it was on THEIR terms.
This song helped me when I was 12 and my sadness was leading me towards something. 28 yrs later I'm still here. It's because of people like you 2 dudes that I'm glad I've stuck around this long.
One of the best in history. I haven’t heard every metal solo ever of course, but out of what I’ve heard Fade to Black easily has the most emotional solo.
@@EGuitarmane incomparable, Fade to Black ending solo is more about emotion, while Tornado's solo is about being Thrashy as hell, I love both though ^^
"Now let me finish this pirouette!!" I never thought in a million years I would hear that during a Metallica video, but hey you are trendsetters. Good for you, keep up the good work!!
This was their last album on an independent label so they didn't have near the access to the best of engineers and producers in the mid 80's and that is what makes this album even more amazing. I personally feel that "Trapped under Ice" is the best song on this album.
killatella90 “Trapped Under Ice” is so good. Personally I feel this song was the best on the album, and frankly of their entire catalog. Even though it’s was such a departure from their main sound at that time. It’s probably because the lyrics resonated with me so much as a sullen, depressed teenager. Second fav off this album would have to be “Creeping Death”.
It IS my favorite Metallica just because of how it starts and that journey of an ending solo... the song itself isn't anywhere as aggressive and hardcore as MANY of their other songs but damn... as I grow older I appreciate this song more and more.
I think that is the longest I have seen you guys go with a song without stopping and putting your critique in..... lol clearly it ensnared you, coz its a hell of a song....love it :-)
Absolutely one of the best, but I never really considered this a ballad. When I think of ballads, I thing of Tesla’s Love Song and too many to count. Whatever it’s called it is amazing!
It's probably already been said in comments but I'm not scrolling through almost 3000 comments.......... James wrote this song about how he felt after all of there equipment was stolen on tour i think with Van Halen Just as they were starting to get a name for themselves, I think 1983?. Anyways Eddie Van Halen heard what happened and sent them all brand new equipment................How cool is that???
Definitely. Orion is their ultimate instrumental, and really showcases Cliff's abilities both on the bass and on the sheet. Burton's bass solo is amazing.
At this time Metallica didn't have access to the best recording / sound engineers. Ride the lightning was recorded with a budget of only 30,000$ in 1984. To put that into perspective the best selling record of 1984 (Michael Jackson's Thriller) had a budget of 750,000$ even though it was recorded in 1982
Even better, they’re still together. Still writing music. Still touring. Such great chemistry within the band that I’m sure most of us will be able to fully realize
I remember in 8th grade, we had to pick a song to analyse, as poetry, in front of the class. I picked this one, and I wonder if my teacher/classmates worried about me haha
Haha oh nice. We did the same thing in 8th grade. I did Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams, Korn's Blind, Green Jelly's Three Little Pigs....and I think I did Seven Mary Three's Cumbersome. :D
Imagine being a 13 year old angsty kid when this came out. Holy s I think my hair grew to my shoulders the first time I heard this album. The young ladies weren’t very impressed with my extensive Metallica t-shirt collection, unfortunately. Lol
Gotta disagree yo. Don't get me wrong, it's an incredible live version, but it would be these guys' first intro proper thrash Metallica. The studio version is nuts, but the groove and feel is still perceptible through the wall of noise, better for analysis and reaction
The thing that always impressed me about Metallica is how many different riffs and beats they can fit into one song and how seamless they transition between them. Always complex songs that take immense talent to write and play.
You probably don't listen to this kinda music, but checkout Sinister's "Cross the Styx". The way they squeeze everything out of riffs is something to behold. The cyclical song structure and reiterating themes among other things is insane.
Other bands can sort of do that too, but with Metallica they can make it all seem like one coherent whole. With other bands it seems more like different song parts smoothly transitioning into each other, but with this band its like you're still in the same musical journey.
Ok I’m late to the party so I can’t read all these comments...but it was 1983, and they did NOT have access to the best of the best. In fact this song was written right after what gear they had was stolen from them. These guys were living day to day playing small clubs and festivals. They’re just that good. Love ya!
Yes, but it makes other people who feel the same realise that it’s not only them that feel like that. I found that with the Black Album. That was my life saver 🤟🏻
Amazing!! You guys are Riding the Lightning! Keep it coming....here’s one Judas Priest Beyond The Realms of Death! 500K....congratulations Ryan & George!
This music is iconic not just because of the raw sound but because of the storyline imprinted in the song. The balance between melodic and metal is one of the most brilliant i have ever heard. I can't imagine what it is being depressed at the point of suicide, but this music was able to show me the rollercoster that people can achieve when they get to this point in life. The hole time we can SEE and FEEL the struggle and the end is the culmination of an end long desired. Knowing the background of the music, why was it made or how James was feeling at that time just brings even more feels and emotions. Great song from one of the best albuns ever made. 'Tallica Rulez!!
1984 I was 14 and lost my shit when this album dropped and it's their best album ever in my opinion! Not one bad song on it. I love to watch you guys rock out. They sound just like that live too. BTW Merry Christmas to y'all!

gentlemen, first of all I appreciate that you go outside of your comfort zone and review these. So far as when this was made, the year was 1983. At that point they had no accesss to the best, not yet.
I've been a Metallica fan for over 30 years and I love watching people get introduced to them for the first time. They are by far my favorite band and it really means a lot to me hearing people appreciate what they've done. You guys obviously know music and like good music. Keep doing what you do.
You guys should listen to the live version of children of the grave on the Randy Rhoads tribute album. One of Randy’s best solos in my opinion especially considering he never liked playing sabbath songs
Fade to Black is the reason I picked up a guitar. I took guitar lessons for two years and played lead while my teacher played rhythm at a guitar recital when I was 17. There is a real magic in listening to the song, but the experience to play in concert with someone else is nirvana. I don't play as much these days, but when this song comes on I have to air guitar and sing along with the solos. Anyways, Yes - Roundabout.
I love the raw aggression of Metallica when you hear stuff like “Battery” but imo it’s their metamorphosis into possibly ‘metals’ greatest melodic metal band that is possibly their truest genius.....
I used to listen to this record front to back every single day all through Junior High. Still gives me the feels to this very day! I love see you guys react to stuff that I've loved all these years and I know you will too.
You said it wasnt your fav metallica song.....do you realize you were so enchanted listening to it that you only stopped it once the entire time to comment?????
+Scott Sherman yeah, they should probably listen to it again. They were clearly too busy having their minds blown to be able to remember how much they loved it.
Not their fault. They have to screw up the audio or stop because of all the copyright bullshit. Blame the companies or lars. Well blame both but mostly lars. That hobbit is effin greedy
For Whom The Bell Tolls...as a Metallica fan from the very start, that is my #1 favorite song. My #2 is Creeping Death as they opened every concert with that song in the beginning. Ride The Lightning is my favorite album...and other than those 2 songs it’s got Fade To Black too??? Shut the front door!!!!
I love y’all’s banter and the true first time reactions to hearing some music that is new to you both. Appreciate that you can step out of your comfort music and appreciate music that you otherwise wouldn’t listen to. Great work keep ‘em coming.
And now I can't listen to this song without picturing Mike Tyson knocking someone out and then finishing his ballet number. What have you done?!?!?!?!?
This song has so much emotional power and though it has all the Metallica trademarks of melody and aggression and it sweeps you up, it's also deeply personal for those who have the 'black dog' of depression always with them. There's a depth of emotional connection you get with this song that you might not get if you don't experience that darkness.
1984 dude, back in my teenage years when nobody else but metalheads knew who Metallica was, when all us metalheads felt like we were in on some awesome secret that the rest of the world wasn't hip to, "And justice for all" and the song "One" brought Metallica into the mainstream and a lot of fans felt betrayed that Metallica sold out to the corporate world, myself I felt like the world had finally caught up with Metallica and the musical tastes of people began in the 90s to become less of a group mentality, less putting music into neat little boxes of genres, I personally thank Run DMC and Aerosmith for their huge step in the 80s that broke the glass ceiling

BTW, when this album was written and recorded, James and Lars were around 20. Let that sink in....they were 20 years old and writing and performing at that level. It’s mind boggling...
Thank you so much for doing this song, it’s saved my life on multiple occasions....
Just wanted to take this quick, random moment to say that I'm glad you made it through it all. And, to say Thank You for sharing your soul.
"Mike Tyson in a tutu" - comments like this is the reason I follow you guys, you rock!
Brilliant comment hahahaha
Don't get me fycked up, I'll still knock you out! Lol. ... Excellent
Fucking killed me too hahahah!
The song was written by James about the time his mother died when he was like 15. She gave him a gutair and years later it was stolen . So the song is about that pain he was experiencing. I used to play this on drums . My Favorite.
Damn, I hadn’t known that, but it makes sense. Wow.
Patriot Penny I didn’t know that, I just knew that they wrote it after their gear was stolen and they had a rough time alltogether.
Wrong
Patriot Penny one of mine too
Wasn't the god that failed about his mother dying? Both of them? I don't fuckin know man i'm only 18
The Mike Tyson:Ballerina analogy is so spot on!!
90's? 1984 boys !!
Guys...notice there's no music video for this song? MetallicA refused to do videos before "One". They weren't about image or looks. They got no radio air play. They got famous JUST off their music & talent. When they DID start doing videos, it was on THEIR terms.
Sadly it's hard if not nearly impossible to try and do the same thing as a musician nowadays.
One’s video adds such an impact to the song tbh
They most likely didn't have the money before the Monsters of Rock tour for Master of Puppets
@@sirmcafee2365 this song would need a very emotional video and morbid
Lee Barton sadly this album was last time we heard Cliff Burton....man, he was awesome a guy who treated his bass like a guitar.
This song is so beautiful you guys couldn't stop it more than 2 times..
Yea i noticed
This song helped me when I was 12 and my sadness was leading me towards something. 28 yrs later I'm still here. It's because of people like you 2 dudes that I'm glad I've stuck around this long.
Metallica - Sanitarium (welcome home)
RogueEagle welcome home (sanitarium)
Song actually got me out minor depression
This is my favorite metallica song
Great suggestion. IMO this is part of the trio with Fade to Black and One, the three great Metallica ballads. Need to hear that last one!
...let me be
Ride the lightning was released 34 years ago today!
(via metallica instagram)
Selenab ts that's confirmed
Yes
You guys love the instruments you really should check out "Orion" or even "call of ktulu" orbetter yet a full album review of master of puppets!!!!!
Edward Stoneking agreed
So much this. Orion is a god damn roller coaster of emotions if you really listen through.
Full album review definitely or be surprised by their baby faced album "Kill'em All"
I've been suggesting Orion for as long as I can remember now, I hope they do it
Edward Stoneking Instrumentals of metallica is same and boring.
Love you guys and fade to Black will be played at my funeral... It's already in the paperwork!!!
Way to 'go' man 😂
Too bad you won't be there to enjoy it.
Mine too lol
I would want wherever I May Roam..
Popo that’s awesome!!
Fight fire with fire - Metallica. I think they are ready for it.
this ENTIRE Album is TIMELESS. I will still be listening to it when I'm 80 and pass it on to the next generation.
Disposable Heroes needs to happen !!!
They are not ready for it... Yet
My favorite Metallica song
Such a fucking crushing song
This song has an instrumental chorus, which is quite rare, and very unique during that era of metal.
The solo towards the end is Insane
One of the best in history. I haven’t heard every metal solo ever of course, but out of what I’ve heard Fade to Black easily has the most emotional solo.
El mejor solo de guitarra de metallica
@@EGuitarmane incomparable, Fade to Black ending solo is more about emotion, while Tornado's solo is about being Thrashy as hell, I love both though ^^
My Favorite part In the song
I have a friend who calls this song Fade to Guitar Solo....
"Now let me finish this pirouette!!"
I never thought in a million years I would hear that during a Metallica video, but hey you are trendsetters. Good for you, keep up the good work!!
I think it's a pretty good comparison....
This was their last album on an independent label so they didn't have near the access to the best of engineers and producers in the mid 80's and that is what makes this album even more amazing. I personally feel that "Trapped under Ice" is the best song on this album.
killatella90 I like Fight Fire with Fire the best
killatella90 “Trapped Under Ice” is so good. Personally I feel this song was the best on the album, and frankly of their entire catalog. Even though it’s was such a departure from their main sound at that time. It’s probably because the lyrics resonated with me so much as a sullen, depressed teenager. Second fav off this album would have to be “Creeping Death”.
Sewerslider Love Creeping Death!
This album has to be my favorite from Metallica. It just has so many fantastic songs. It's pretty much perfect!
Insanity. Its the worse song but its also good. So many better songs
That song is a masterpiece.
Creeping death.
It's the master of puppets for this album
Creeping Death is the best song Metallica has ever written.
Rangam Sarmah I've been begging them to do that song. My favorite Metallica song of all time lol
TamdarionD I don't know dude, that songs great but I think One, Call of Kthulu, and Master are in my top 5 before CD
Yiorgios Vazouras true, actually your preference is also mine, but I feel creeping death, that he'll of a song, needs more recognition
Greatest bible song ever written
One of my favorite Metallica songs. Always describe it as beautiful.
Ross Thomas the intro is gorgeous
It IS my favorite Metallica just because of how it starts and that journey of an ending solo... the song itself isn't anywhere as aggressive and hardcore as MANY of their other songs but damn... as I grow older I appreciate this song more and more.
I think that is the longest I have seen you guys go with a song without stopping and putting your critique in..... lol clearly it ensnared you, coz its a hell of a song....love it :-)
Obscure Karaoke They didn’t stop “whiskey lullaby” a single time
This is the first Ballad they did. It really showed their range as a band.
Just... one of the best ballads ever recored... no biggie.
You have to review Metallica - Orion, it's a masterpiece!!!!
Best instrumental ever brother!
Definitely. Orion is their ultimate instrumental, and really showcases Cliff's abilities both on the bass and on the sheet. Burton's bass solo is amazing.
Don't kill me here but I think that To live is to die is by far the definitive Metallica instrumental.
As much as I enjoy Orion, I actually like The Call Of Ktulu more. I also think Suicide & Redemption doesn't get nearly enough respect.
+1 ORION !! I'd love these guys get to know the song and share their reaction / analysis.
At this time Metallica didn't have access to the best recording / sound engineers. Ride the lightning was recorded with a budget of only 30,000$ in 1984. To put that into perspective the best selling record of 1984 (Michael Jackson's Thriller) had a budget of 750,000$ even though it was recorded in 1982
Yup
Metallica is one of those legends that are all by themselves. There is nobody else like them.
Even better, they’re still together. Still writing music. Still touring. Such great chemistry within the band that I’m sure most of us will be able to fully realize
@@CraftsmanQuad19and still producing 😉
In my opinion the greatest Metallica album is ride the lightning.
#same
AJFA all day
It's a funny one. I think MoP is their best but Lightning is my favourite. Work that out :)
@@jlapp thats it.
Agreed
That Mike Tyson analogy though... Dude. Killed me 😂
I remember in 8th grade, we had to pick a song to analyse, as poetry, in front of the class. I picked this one, and I wonder if my teacher/classmates worried about me haha
Erica the red head that’s hella awesome 😎
Lol I remember when I had to do that in high school. I went with Master of Puppets...That got quite the reaction too
Erica the red head I did the same!
Haha oh nice. We did the same thing in 8th grade. I did Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams, Korn's Blind, Green Jelly's Three Little Pigs....and I think I did Seven Mary Three's Cumbersome. :D
i did dead skin mask by slayer lol
Imagine being a 13 year old angsty kid when this came out. Holy s I think my hair grew to my shoulders the first time I heard this album. The young ladies weren’t very impressed with my extensive Metallica t-shirt collection, unfortunately. Lol
same
amen,brother
Same here
That was me at 13 now just turned 50 2021 and it still blows me away
Metallica sounds exactly the same live as they do on the vids. It's talent and relentless pursuit of perfection.
still do too i saw them last month and they still bring it hard!!
@GOLDBOND vs BALLS On this tour they did. I saw it back in '85 twice.
You may like Metallica - Welcome Home (Sanitarium) more!
I like Sanitarium more than One to be honest. I like the atmosphere of the song more, very haunting. And that bridge breakdown riff...awesome.
Yes! Sanitarium is an absolute must!
Yes! Sanitarium next
I add my vote for Welcome Home (Sanitarium). I haven't seen any reaction channel do it yet, either.
You guys need to do “Battery” by Metallica it’s absolutely insane!
wesley perkins AGREED
(Live Seattle 89) ;)
Gotta disagree yo. Don't get me wrong, it's an incredible live version, but it would be these guys' first intro proper thrash Metallica. The studio version is nuts, but the groove and feel is still perceptible through the wall of noise, better for analysis and reaction
totally!!! upvoted to reach number 1 so they can see, gogo
bump
The thing that always impressed me about Metallica is how many different riffs and beats they can fit into one song and how seamless they transition between them. Always complex songs that take immense talent to write and play.
It becoz of lars... he may not be the best drummer. But his vision on what the song should be and his direct on arrangement.😊😊😊
@@Billy_Almighty does he do a lot of the arrangements? I didn't know that.
@@HELL0NESSA just wached documentary about metaalica.. james said that lars has the vision of the song and how it is done.
9:20 George giving (what I've affectionately dubbed) his "filthy face" when he's really just feeling a track. Love it!
listen to blackened !
Shane Neilson of course man it's a masterpiece
Ok I’m late to the party so I can’t read all these comments...but it was 1983, and they did NOT have access to the best of the best. In fact this song was written right after what gear they had was stolen from them. These guys were living day to day playing small clubs and festivals. They’re just that good. Love ya!
Correction 1984
No... it was recorded during the spring of 1984.
It was recorded in 1984 in Copenhagen because Lars had connections with nice recording equipment, so they probably had access to good shit :)
By the way Lars family is pretty wealthy!
Niels Liljedahl Christensen yea, but as James has said, they were in a low place after having their shit ganked.
Think '80's babies!!
Hell to the yeah.
This album was for some of us... a LIFE SAVER... OMG.
Which is odd because it’s about a guy who feels like he has absolutely nothing to live for
Yes, but it makes other people who feel the same realise that it’s not only them that feel like that. I found that with the Black Album. That was my life saver 🤟🏻
Amazing!! You guys are Riding the Lightning! Keep it coming....here’s one Judas Priest Beyond The Realms of Death! 500K....congratulations Ryan & George!
Creeping Death off of this album is a must guys!
live version please.
Best song of the album. Creeping death. I’ve seen them 6 times. Opened 4 of them with it. Out the gates.... balls out!
Gregory Duoos fade to black is the best from the album and best of all time imo. Creeping death 2nd best from the album
@@PaulPelkonen if I could like this comment a million times it still wouldn't be enough.
Yes, yes and yes.
Pantera - Cemetery Gates
BTW Merry Christmas to y'all!
escape is not so good
MADDOG 217420 CRACKAH 1 I was the same age and ride the lightning was crazy! I had it on cassette. Played it on my clock radio that has a tape player. I remember when I heard the first song and it was so mellow, I was like WTF, but holy crap it picked up fast!
I was 9 and it was my favorite then and still is !!!!
@@drakeaciago6491 Idk man that may be my favorite song on the album. I personally don't think there is a single weak song on the whole album.
@@drakeaciago6491 I like escape a lot actually
So glad you guys didnt skip parts on this one! This is one of those songs you just can't do that to, and you guys did your fans a solid! I'm glad to be 1 of the 500k subs! You guys are the best!
They were 20-21 when they wrote this album! Pretty amazing!
gentlemen, first of all I appreciate that you go outside of your comfort zone and review these. So far as when this was made, the year was 1983. At that point they had no accesss to the best, not yet.
This is the Comfortably Numb of Metal.
ive always said this. got pretty much the same structure
Never thought about that, but that is pretty damn accurate
Yeah that’s actually super accurate. Great description
Never thought to compare the two but they are actually really similar! Makes sense cause they’re my fav song from the two bands
Best description ever.
Creeping Death for the next one.
Welcome home (sanitarium)
Carl Nordström I think they did this already, no?
I'm no musician. I just know what pulls at me. Sanitarium makes me FEEL. GREAT CHOICE!!!!!!!
Yes!
Definitely agree
Yes!!!!
I've been a Metallica fan for over 30 years and I love watching people get introduced to them for the first time. They are by far my favorite band and it really means a lot to me hearing people appreciate what they've done. You guys obviously know music and like good music. Keep doing what you do.
Black Sabbath - Children of the grave I'll keep trying to will this into existence.
Cheers to that!
Yes!!
You guys should listen to the live version of children of the grave on the Randy Rhoads tribute album. One of Randy’s best solos in my opinion especially considering he never liked playing sabbath songs
YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!!
Seconded!
You guys are a gift. I'm thinking of OLD music in new ways. I never thought anyone could could do that. LOVING the channel.
You guys should listen to welcome home sanitarium.
Same here actually, glad to hear someone else did too. And then in high school I would listen to Rust In Peace daily. Sometimes I still do
They need to do either
Disposible Heroes
or
Harvester Of Sorrow
Disposable first that’s my favorite
Disposable heroes
That Mike Tyson analogy was actually perfect! :D
You said it wasnt your fav metallica song.....do you realize you were so enchanted listening to it that you only stopped it once the entire time to comment?????
exactly;
hahahahaah
+Scott Sherman yeah, they should probably listen to it again. They were clearly too busy having their minds blown to be able to remember how much they loved it.
They stopped twice and how are you to decide their favorite lmao
Not their fault. They have to screw up the audio or stop because of all the copyright bullshit. Blame the companies or lars. Well blame both but mostly lars. That hobbit is effin greedy
Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls!!!
You just have to react on that man..
Artha Potdar yes!
May as well throw creeping death, and ride the lightning. Shit that whole album should be reviewed by these guys.
This!!!!!!!!
Thank god for music nothing else can give you that feeling you get from certain songs totally magic
Well said! But without the God stuff...
God(s)
And now I can't listen to this song without picturing Mike Tyson knocking someone out and then finishing his ballet number. What have you done?!?!?!?!?
🤣🤣
Now let me finish my pirouette 😅😂🤣
🤣
Ahh thit... I'm thorry!
That's why I love these dudes, they come up with the craziest analogies.
This song has so much emotional power and though it has all the Metallica trademarks of melody and aggression and it sweeps you up, it's also deeply personal for those who have the 'black dog' of depression always with them. There's a depth of emotional connection you get with this song that you might not get if you don't experience that darkness.
Nicole Tunis ❤️🤘
James wrote it about his gear getting stolen, amps n shit. :(
1984 dude, back in my teenage years when nobody else but metalheads knew who Metallica was, when all us metalheads felt like we were in on some awesome secret that the rest of the world wasn't hip to, "And justice for all" and the song "One" brought Metallica into the mainstream and a lot of fans felt betrayed that Metallica sold out to the corporate world, myself I felt like the world had finally caught up with Metallica and the musical tastes of people began in the 90s to become less of a group mentality, less putting music into neat little boxes of genres, I personally thank Run DMC and Aerosmith for their huge step in the 80s that broke the glass ceiling
