Valve can avoid making a “3” by just making all their sequels at once and putting them in “The Orange Box 2”
Wow
VALVE HIRE THIS MAN AT ONCE PLZ!
How about, Half Life 2 Episode 2 Part 2?
Half life 3 with portal 3 and left for dead 3 and it tf3
I would love a orange box 2.
Should've made it a 3 part video and never release the final video.
This is too brilliant.
me227 thank you for that 😂
Better yet: finish up the series with _Source 2013... 5 years later_ (Portal 2, CSGO, Dota 2), followed by a cheap April Fool's Day prank.

This is so mean yet brilliant xD

Jtzkb it’s really not worth 50 ammo per airblast
Jtzkb One of the most mained classes is soldier, explosives are common and it’s rare to see a game without a single explosive class
@@Jtzkb you need airblast to put people out of fire. Literally everyone would be grateful tp you if you put them out of fire in that one fight near control point.
@@Jtzkb they are running away not because they don't want to but because they don't expect you to do it. That doesn't mean and excuses you not to do it.
Something I noticed in Half-Life 2 is that some citizens have cuts in their clothing and scars on the backs of their heads due to Manhacks being used to keep them in line. The attention to detail is... honestly still impressive after all these years.
Holy shit I never saw this
Dang for 2004 this game was and always will be phenomenal
@@realmug I'm talking about the ones with the blue denim looking jackets.
@@realmug I think a more apropriate term for them would be "dissidents".
Were the manhacks used to keep them in line?
Great video. Absolute props for doing proper under the hood research on TF2 both casually and competitively, a choice not enough out of the loop creators choose to do.
FUNKe Oh hello.
Yo, Funke. How you living?
Gibbe more tf2 (or jojo) pls
What did he mean TF2 plagurized Overwatch?? in What?
Yeah, that's right
Half-life fans: we’ve been waiting for half life 3 for over 20 years
Tf2 fans: there are aimbot bots in every official server and we haven’t gotten a major update since 2019
Portal fans: we died but it’s not too bad
Over 20 years? 17 years at best, but actually 14 years beacause Ep. 2 was released in 2007
Actually the last major update tf2 got was in 2017, yep 4 years without a update
As a portal fan: Yep. We died, but it was a pretty final conclusion. I'm okay with it.
@@dr.3998 tbh its better if it doesn’t continue. The game is done. The story is finished with a satisfying conclusion (except for weathly getting stuck in space). The devs are probably satisfied too. I think a portal 1 and 2 remake on source 2 and vr port for both games will be better.
@@Oddgamer0917 You're right. Though I've heard that they were interested to make a vr portal, but it had too much motion sickness.
Some of the houses you could enter on Highway 17 had great atmosphere. Something about the way the houses were out in the middle of nowhere, slightly dilapidated, and probably only had a couple people living in them really made you feel what the citizens of this new world felt. One of the houses (the one with the burning corpses outside) gave me really ominous vibes. The way there is barely anything in the house in the way of food, the fact that there is nothing in the way of entertainment for those living there. It really felt bleak and hopeless, and set the tone for the game spectacularly.
You are so right dude
Seeing how cool the Orange Box was together makes me wish that Steam didn't become their man focus, even though it makes complete sense from a business standpoint. Valve made some great games. Awesome video
MandaloreGaming Love your videos Mandalore!
I don't know about steam but you sure as hell have a man focus as you are in fact a homosexual.

One note about freeman’s backstory,
You could be a wonderfully decorated engineer and still be reduced to wearing a suit and pushing carts. The ivory tower of academia will reduced those without proper experience in the field to grunts, especially if the project is as ground breaking as what Gordon was working on.
Ask your scientist friend. They’ll tell you all about it.
Well yeah, without expierence they don't know what they're doing
I mean, no? Such jobs are typically given to lab techs and some professors undergrad students. Their qualifications are much different from those of engineers. And 'academics in ivory towers hating engineers' is a tired trope at this point, since most academics are actively teaching engineers alongside their core subjects and often have to work with them in industrial sectors. I haven't met a scientist who is so openly dismissive towards engineers since they have to rely on them for helping them out in projects/writing papers. At the most, I have seen some of them consider engineering and non theoretical fields to be a poor choice for whom they consider intelligent.
@@ronbali3429 Forgive me, I know only a few engineers and they all work in the field. I imagine it could be different from science to science.
What I do know is a plethora of life-scientists. I believe it must very lab to lab, because my ex roommate was a published biologist specializing in botany. She's a doctor now and still is forced to do field work. Her direct only has her masters and works in the indoor lab, but since she already spent her 5-odd years as a field grunt, hunting down samples 4 hours a day.
I can confirm, did a Diamond Cubic Crystal BvK model fit and what I did was not the theory but instead the coding with next to no background knowledge on BvK while minimal at best knowledge on phonon dispersion.
@@ronbali3429I see it like astronauts. Astronauts aren’t at the top of the ladder it when to comes to space traversal. They don’t design he rockets or perform the equations needed to make it all possible. Yet they’re still very very educated and are expected to do the grunt work and out their neck on the line.
There are tasks that require very educated people to do very risky things. And so that’s what Gordon is. He’s very educated and needs to be on site to manage this project. It can’t be handed off to an assistant or student or anyone else. They need a top mind in the room at the moment, in case anything goes wrong.
I come from the future. I think Valve might have finally learnt how to count to 3
Nope but they showed that they can say names

"More barren than a nun's porn collection."
These are the metaphors that matter folks.
where did he say that?
@@Kingofdinner no, it's a metaphor.
Similies use the words "like" or "as"
AnduRo 12:41
@@Nmille98 nah I'm pretty sure that's a simile. Similes are directly comparative, metaphors say that a thing is something else to give an implied comparison.
Since this statement compared the barrenness to a nun's porn collection, it's a simile. If he'd said that it WAS a nun's porn collection (thereby implying that it's non existent), that would have been a metaphor.
That metaphor didn't really work, tbh, but you get the idea, if it's comparing it to something else it's a simile. Than is also a comparative word, same as 'like' or 'as'
Well... theres sinner Susan she has that name for a reason
I saw you in my stream and I remembered you made this video. good one.
my favourite part of these games is that you have total freedom of control over your character. no cutscenes where you have to basically just let go of the keyboard and step away from the desk, no animations where you get your control taken away from you, it felt like a very bare metal raw player-to-character connection.
A break time of sorts during which you can backwards bunnyhop out of the map, righ?
you are still walking linear hallways from one invisible trigger to another. there is no control. making proper cutscenes is just more expensive and would allow player to skip the travesty of a story half-life 2 has.
@@solitudesf8111 it is a bit gimmicky but what makes it a travesty in your eyes?

TF2 is one of the most tightly knit communities there is. Everyone knows all the content creators, we all know the reccurring jokes about lack of support and random crits, and we are all aware of the very small but surving esports scene. TF2 is a game that is hard to describe from an outsiders perspective. A solid 200 hours might be a lot in other games, but TF2 its considered nothing, most veterans average 4000. There's a lot to learn.
One of its biggest problems is wasted potential. TF2 is the goldilocks of esports. Recognisable characters, beautiful design and artstyle, mechanics with incredible skill ceilings, easy to understand the basics, and high acessibillity. But, Valve left it to rot. It has a team of 4 programmers. They went to CSGO and Dota, leaving TF2 with bi-annual updates, and a neglected esports scene and community.
But thats just my ramblings. Its very interesting to see the perspective of a new player. For example, the backburner may be powerful at lower levels, its detremental as the airblast is it most powerful tool, often neglected. It can reflect projectiles and push players away, essential in pyro v soldier matchups, and only being able to do 4 of them hits . you hard. It all changes with skill.
Also, no-one uses crafting. There's other things, but this comment is getting too long.
lol I only have 5 hours in TF2 so far, looks like I have a lot to go
Might be a little late but yeah I completly agree with this comment, the tf2 community is tightly knit as well which is the thing keeping it alive. I'm hoping to get back into it again and try the community updates
Hopefully, when Valve releases Alyx, some of the devs can move back to Tf2
After 2500hrs in this game and 4 seasons of competitive, tf2 is still my favorite game. I have so many memories and friends in this game. Tf2 is a masterpiece abandoned by its creators with a loving and dedicated community.
I’m F2P (so far), and crafting is a struggle. Random item drops don’t happen ‘every 30-70 minutes’ and you never have enough space.

Damn, I love both TLOU and Half-Life and had no clue Marlene and Alyx were voiced by the same person. What range.
>using airblast once every few lives
boi
I do the same thing!
I never said I was a good Pyro
At least he doesn't w+m1
If he uses the dragon he is w+m1
What's that? Airblast is useless?
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh
Soldier mains.
I love this video so much and yet cringed so hard when he said that

This video reminds me a lot of The Orange Box. They're both amazing.
I always remember playing half life when I was a kid, feeling such an overwhelming feeling of tension and atmosphere, it birthed my love of story driven single player games
The editing was fantastic. The way the _Half-Life 2_ popped up on the screen with the funky circles was really cool man. 10/10
Are you *the* Half-Life 3?!
BRO WHEN ARE yoU COMING OUT
I bet your Nick name is myth
So this is where Half Life 3 was. TH-cam
April 1st:
- Half Life 3: Infinite years later
- Raycevik: X years later
Ray's April Fools video will be Halo Wars years later.
17:32 - that bridge still gives me nightmares to this day. Don't ask. 😅
Also - "That's the old passage to Ravenholm. We don't go there anymore."
I finished Portal in less than two hours on my first ever blind run a couple weeks ago.
You were so spot on about its role in the industry´s perception of mechanics like portals that I´m almost dizzy.
I picked up the Orange Box on a whim because it was so much cheaper than other games in my local game store. Holy shite was it the best €20 I've ever spent.
Gotakibono the orange box was 60 on release, 20$ per game
Nope thats not the exchange value tho
Well, I didn't say I got it on release day. I bought it two years after its release, so by that time the few copies they had left in the store were marked down in price.

Nice to know, thanks
On a mobile device right now. For some reason the time stamps in the description don’t work but the ones in this comment thread work.
I know literally nothing about half life and orange box but this was such a good video that I just straight up watched the whole thing
One of my most remembered parts of hl2 ep2 is when you drive through a town and get trapped by two walls and get ambushed. And “your not supposed to be here” starts playing and I remember getting a grin on my face.
1:27 I just realized, that's the same combine look that they had in the trailer for Half-Life: Alyx
Why do I keep seeing you lol
Wait you telling me that the combine in alyx are dark blue and orange?
As an avid tf2 player I should probably tell you that the back burner is actually kind of shit for skilled players.
I disagree. It absolutely shreds everything if you use it right and as long as you aren't spamming airblasts or trying to play a support role (which the weapon is obviously not meant for) it's downside literally doesn't matter.
It used to be nuts, but was nerfed heavily in the last couple years.
@@Laroac What did they do it? I've playing TF2 on and off for the past few years and never noticed any major changes in its effectiveness. If anything shouldn't it be a lot stronger now since they buffed pyro's damage?
@@remembertotakeshowerspleas355 Its airblast cost is the problem, it's understandable that you don't know the reason why most prefer stock compared to back burner from playing tf2 on and off. The one big problem from that drawback is its flexibility, the back burner is good for flanking and... that's it, you certainly cannot 1v1 soldier, heavy, and demoman with it face-to-face because of that airblast cost. Airblast is one of the reasons why pyro could even directly confront these classes especially when encountering them in choke points, it could reflect rockets, arrows, pills, and stickies while also pushing back enemies to have a momentary breathing space that could be important in a short-term such as quick escape or finding cover. Sacrificing so much for one niche that the stock itself could already do consistently isn't a good strategy, with the players now, 9/10 times enemies could predict your strategy and severely punish you for that.
@@remembertotakeshowerspleas355 I've got 10+ years and 4000+ hours in TF2, you're completely wrong and Rycore is completely right. Skilled players don't even touch the backburner, it's a gun for noobs. It's fun in pubs for tormenting bad players, but it's garbage against anyone that doesn't just W+M1 their way through the game. About 75% of the time, stock is better than the sidegrades.
i miss these games so much. the best assortment of individually awesome games under one title ever. this was such an awesome thing to have been released, and the nostalgia of seeing this, oh my god
24:00 - 24:30 That's not cut content. That line is in the main game, during that bit where you've arrived at the power plant (after the canal section), and there being several points of interest where Eli might give a little back story. Like about his wife, Doctor Breen, that artifact Alyx brought in, but them still not knowing what it is. But (I think) once Alyx has entered the room, you can enter the room Mossman is in, then come back out and Eli will give you that line about Mossman not being hired because of Gordon having more experience.
