    Hey Kim!! I have been binge watching your watercolor/gouache videos and they are just amazing!! I got so inspired that I stopped watching this video and did some gelli printing of my own....and I found something really cool. The prints that I did with WC/WC soluble crayons + wc paper= serene, soft look while the prints I did with WC/WC soluble crayons + cardstock= intense, sharp look. I'm not sure why that happened but I thought I would share that amazing surprise with everyone else here.
    I wanted to say that I love your videos so much and to continue this amazing work because it helps so many people even if they don't vocalize it to you!!

    Hi Kim! Great idea! Here's a tip on creating texture (as I know how you like to do that) you know those texture plates we used as rubthrough as a kid, through paper so that it shows on the other side?
    Those make a great impression on gelli plate (and they are plastic) + embossing folders would do the same. Keep the lovely videos coming!

    • @KimDellow
      @KimDellow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do love texture 😂 😂😂 and these are great ideas. I've used embossing folders before but not texture plates yet because I can't find mine 🙄 I've got a feeling that I sold them on ages ago! 🤣😎 Oh well! Thanks for your suggestions! ❤️

    Fabulous Kim! Have you used Distress Crayons or Gelatos on the plate? Do you think it will produce the same results as the Neocolor crayons?

    • @KimDellow
      @KimDellow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't yet! I'm pretty sure the gelatos will work the same as the Neocolor but I'm not sure how the Distress Crayons will fair as they do stick to surfaces. I was going to try them in this video but I couldn't find them 🤣

    Have you tried putting a very thin layer of gel medium on your plate, or paint, putting the paper down, and then leaving it to dry before you pull it up? You can pull up a whole ton of stuff that way.

    Loved watching this video, Kim! I really loved the effect you got with adding the crayons on top of the wet stencil. I’ve been put off from buying a gelli plate due to the price of them but I think I really do need one! :D Thanks for sharing!

      Thank you 💜 it took me a while to get one too coz of the price. I made my own for a while. But when I caved I didn't look back! Check out the Gel Press too they can workout cheaper depending size and where you get it and so far I've not noticed a difference to the Gelli.

      I have an 8.5x11 Stampendous one for sale, $20+shipping. I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Disorder, and when I opened the package and immediately discovered they use something in the manufacturing that irritates my sinuses, so I can’t use it. Everyone I’ve asked to smell it can’t, and there are many dozens of folks in my gel print group on FB who use this brand with no problem at all (I’m *super* sensitive to all kinds of strange things that don’t bother anyone else!) If anyone is interested please email me at Meilandra@gmail, I live in Arizona and accept PayPal.

      I finally bit the bullet....I really wanted dylusion paints and a gelli plate.....I ended up getting gelatos, Dina Wakley scribble sticks and a gelli plate all for about the same price as the paints..... so far, it's really fun.... I've yet to get good at it cause I've only had them for a couple of days...

    Great video, as always. I have two thoughts for future playing. I've used really cheap hair gel when I wanted something thicker than water. Would it work on the gel plate as a wet base for crayons? Hmmmm. Also, what would happen with a more absorbent paper? You always provide inspiration for making art. Thanks!

    • @KimDellow
      @KimDellow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ooo! I've never heard of the hair gel trick. How well does it dry? Does it dry completely transparent? I'm fascinated!
      On the more absorbent paper, I did try some different papers. I used a light weight printer/copy paper which was ok but the results were too crinkly for me. A light weight student watercolor paper which worked really nicely and the medium weight drawing paper that I used in this video. So try out the papers you have! See which is your fave 😁💜

    • @robinalcorn5140
      @robinalcorn5140 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've mainly used it when painting fabric. It increased the crispness of the image and didn't interfere with heat setting or washability of the fabric paint. I scrape it over the surface of the fibers before stenciling or printing. The cheap stuff (NOT humidity-resistant) is basically thickener in a bottle. It dries well, like it would in your hair. The one I buy is practically colorless. I'm dying to try it with water-soluble crayons on the gel plate since seeing your video. Might hold the definition of a stencil a bit better. You have my permission to try it out and share it!
      I've seen videos using spray starch instead of water and that might be interesting too. Acts like a fixative.
      I love printing on kids' watercolor paper when working with wetter media. It's about the weight of cardstock and really grabs the paint off the plate. Other than that, anything that's not nailed down is fair game for gelli printing!
