    I am a 15 year army veteran. I struggled with ptsd from my tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2009. My struggle lasted 14 years. Until I tried DMT. My experience was so profound, that it completely rewrote the fabric that my brain had precieved as reality. I have reconnected with my inner, higher mind, I meditate daily, psychedelics have inspired change within a damaged mind. If you suffer from mental health challenges please consider psychedelics. ❤

    I've lived with PTSD for 15 years until one day i had a unique experience with psychedelics. After what seemed like an eternity, i managed to tell my mother that i loved her and tell my best friend how much i appreciated him being part of my life. I managed to unleash all my negative emotions that i had no way to do otherwise due to the constraints of my ego. My ego was sealed temporarily as emotions of euphoria were overflowing through me... It's been 5 years since then and life has become so much better for me. My PTSD is gone and i have learned to grow myself by not letting my ego get in the way like it has done in the past. I have learned to forgive by understanding. I have learned to become more by listening instead of interrupting. I have had this experience 3 times in the past 5 years ever since i first tried it. IT has been a greating healing for me personally.

    Doing psilocybin mushrooms with my friends for the first time after a long year of anxiety/depression was incredibly healing. It showed me the beauty of nature and friendship. It also felt incredibly familiar - almost like a looking through a lens of reality I hadn't looked at since I was a child. It was unbelievable. The best way to describe it is like receiving a warm hug from God and an assurance that things will be okay.

    I've had a few psychedelic mushroom trips, years ago now, and I've never been the same. I'm not depressed and anxious like I once was (dreadfully). After the experiences, I took up new hobbies, thought differently, became more understanding and patient, got a whole new outlook on life. Of course you put the work in yourself too, but they make the work obvious and manageable. It's a dynamic shift on all fronts.
    For the people who haven't experienced this, what you must understand is that it's beyond any description language alone can express. To confine the complex, immersive, and mind-bending experience to a string of words is impossible, and any attempt to do so doesn't really do it justice. And even if I could string the right words together, that doesn't mean you will interpret them to mean what I intend. There seems to be an intelligence there that guides you, humbles you, plays with you - now that might just be our unconscious, but it feels metaphysical in nature.
    It might not be for everyone but for me it felt integral, intimate, and natural.

    I wish he had explained things through the lens of the default mode network. A circuit in the brain that creates and narrates stories that relate to self or ego. This circuit is hyperactive (won’t stop) and dysfunctional (only narrates negative or false thoughts) in nearly every mental health disease.
    Meditation and psychedelics (correct dose, expectations, preparation and environment) can turn the default mode network off, so one can experience reality outside of one’s self. Thus you are not one, you are a continuum of the whole in the absence of negative thoughts. This is a profound experience.

      This is another example to me of someone saying something so incredibly different about what psychedelics do, or what the "psychedelic experience" is, that it's astounding. There seems to me to be no fundamental agreement at all, between people, about what counts as a psychedelic or a psychedelic experience, or what the defining features of it are. To describe in more detail how I see that: If it's a "psychedelic experience" to stop thinking of your stories of yourself in words as much, then people who don't think in words very often, would be having "psychedelic" level experience all the time, and thus wouldn't notice whether or not they've taken something called a "psychedelic." Also, more importantly, if psychedelic experience consists essentially of turning something off, then how does that fit with all those other various descriptions of psychedelic experience that mention adding something to experience, such as adding some sorts of bodily sensations, or hallucinations, or other fantasies, or synesthesia? It doesn't fit, at all. Turning something off, is not at all the same as adding something that wouldn't otherwise be in your experience.
      This all adds up, to me, to more evidence that there's no agreed or valid definition of what a psychedelic is, what a "psychedelic experience" is, or what the words "getting high" mean, or any of that. It's just all nonsense, symbols written by monkeys typing on keyboards, without knowing ANYTHING about what they're saying or really meaning, me, and everyone else.

    • @Zubbbz
      @Zubbbz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SonnyMooniethat's not a psych specific thing, everyone will always have different interpretations of the same ideas. I personally read pages like psychonaut wiki and then go from there. I take it all with a grain of salt though, as anything in that realm is very subjective and different for each person. I sort of use it to learn more about what is possible with substances, to try and get a better understanding of it. He did say in the video that it's not some miracle thing.
      Whats very interesting to me about psilocybe is the "liberation" of the walls between the different parts of the brain and how it can allow you to make many more connections between things in the mind that you otherwise might not.

    I think it is something that allows you to go beyond your default human settings, if we’re speaking in video game terms.
    I heard it compared to “widening your funnel” so you can see more than what your brain thinks you only need to see.
    So whatever you see under psychedelics is usually more real than if you were sober. When you’re sober, your brain filters reality to what is most relevant to the human being.

Thanks to James and his advocacy for psychedelic integration, I've found peace, empathy, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of existence. Keep spreading the message of healing and unity! Psychedelics have unlocked a mystical, spiritual dimension within me, allowing me to appreciate the beauty and interconnectedness of all life. Thank you, James, for pioneering this transformative journey toward greater understanding and compassion. And yes i had bad trips they also were valuable

If you do take some, don't hold on to expectations. Go with the ride. And if the ride isn't comfortable, remember you are not a victim. You just saw a part of your own mind, and its fine. Maybe you needed to feel those things. You chose to take this; and you will grow from it. This is how you can avoid breaking from a bad trip. Remember it's your adventure. Practice inner voyage in a safe environnement. Take care and grow well.

    Jung understood the psychological function of drugs in a different way from other psychoanalytic writers, not merely as changing mood (calming or stimulating), but actually changing what happens in the inner world. This means not simply masking psychic distress but actually removing the cause of the distress for the time being. Chemical substances, he knew, work at a deep level of psychic functioning, blurring the boundaries in the inner world. Splits are abolished, the fragmented worlds become merged. Once someone has experienced this sense of wholeness, they may well want to experience it again and again. The wholeness that comes with intoxication is an illusory wholeness with a numinous power which dissolves when one sobers up. So the search to repeat the experience begins, and it is not one that is readily given up.
    "Every form of addiction is bad" conveys a straightforward and unequivocal message: regardless of the object or behavior to which one is addicted, excessive attachment and dependence on it can have harmful consequences.
    Any state of consciousness which can be achieved using drugs can also be achieved using meditation.

    • @_maria_3433
      @_maria_3433 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So many people had life- and mindset changing experiences with psychedelics. Indigenous people in America have used it for a long time while always being careful to not get addicted. If you possess enough self control and are aware that this will not become a habit, then it is fine. Meditation, as he put it, is a long process and surely effective. Psychedelics just work within minutes and oftentimes a lot more intensely. The difference from "just taking drugs" like heroin, meth, weed, etc. is that you don't look for happiness, euphoria, and excitement but rather find out HOW to find that without the abuse of substances. You have a profound spiritual experience which can alter your view on the world, see connections of the universe. You don't chase the high.
      And why not try it carefully?

    • @Justineyedia
      @Justineyedia 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I was a VERY skeptical person about the use of psychedelics and MJ for treating maladies but I have come full circle. I like to consider myself a very rational person so I try to always question my opinions on many things. Even though there are folks who overstate or oversimplify these drugs and their treatment options, I don't pay attention to those people. The results are what matters. A person can take mushrooms and not be strung out, avoid potentially harmful pharmaceuticals, and have vast improvements in their behavior. A person can ingest THC and have stimulated appetite or alleviate pain that helps their quality of life when they are sick or even dying in hospice. We need to pay close attention to these results. It is important.
    I think another important thing we need to do if we are going to advocate for these alternative and more natural remedies is to NOT overstate the benefits or act like they are always a good thing for everybody. Medical treatment tends to be vary greatly between individuals.

    I used psilocybin mushrooms a couple of times. Each time was different. Some were euphoric, some were sobering. Some were boring. Some were uncomfortable. Use with caution! During the trip your information processing, as you are used too, can fall apart to such extend you probably cannot imagine. At least I could not imagine how it was going to be like.
    I learned that when I keep calm and focus on whatever experience in that moment, that there will come a moment in which the disorientation is replaced with clarity. Metaphorically speaking I compare it to pulling on a wrinked sheet to make it flat. The wrinkles are your turbulent experiences, and your mind is going over this wrinkled 'sheetscape', while you keep pulling and try to make sense of it all. At some moment, the sheet is flat, you oversee it all with enheightened clarity like you never did before. This could be your childhood traumas, relationship issues, issues with yourself, how your self image wasn't through, or how you experienced hapiness when you were a kid. Or ... Like I typed: every experience can be totally different from the last. Good luck and make sure to know the dose you take.
    One of my personal experience was that I felt surge urge to move, just move by body, in every way that felt nice. I was just moving, and moving, I didn't want to stop. After the trip I realized, being a software engineer from professon, that I the intellect is so present that it blocks moving my body in ways that feel good, because the intellect sees little purpose in it. Now I consciously choose to move my body in these irregular ways, just focusing on the feeling. So I have more time feeling, instead of thinking, than I did before. Now I understand people who want to dance, for instance. This may sound totally weird for you, but for me, it meant (and stll does) a whole lot. I often week up with dry eyes in the night, and I almost never yawn. Then I know: it is time to shift attention to by body, feeling, and start moving. When I do that I start yawning and my eyes get more watery again, and fall asleep more easily, and sleep through the night with more comfort.
    Psilocybin is amazing. It is like a personal therapeut that doesn't speak to you, but let's you experience first hand in full.

      Be *_VERY_* careful. Smallest dose possible and then make it smaller. Have a friend you trust, and who is sober, with you through the experience. No one can tell you what to do .. but I will tell you things can go *_very_* wrong. Don't be frivolous with your health .. both mental and physical.

    Mushrooms can be a great teacher but only as good as the student. You have to be open to both happy and unhappy parts of yourself and your life. You have to understand that you are a part of something greater than what we see with eyes. We all want the best things for each other because what’s best for you is also what’s best for me. We are just different parts of a bigger whole with the same goal.

    Many years ago before I had really realized some very depressing truths about life, I did psychedelics every now and then, I enjoyed it and it did help to expand my mind; but these days the depressing truths inherent to life are just overwhelming, and just become amplified whenever I do psychedelics, so I can't really bring myself to do them anymore.

      The more aware you become the more revealing it is how shitty everyone is. There was a point in learning where it just makes me more and more depressed the more I learn. Surface level perceptions are never how things ACTUALLY operate, and how they ACTUALLY operate will leave a HORRIBLE taste in your mouth.
