*Psychedelic mushrooms really made a positive difference for me in* *dealing with addiction and depression. They've had a significant impact* *on my mental well-being, surpassing the effects of antidepressants*
I remember few years back after my wife died, I was left alone with 3 kids. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with bipolar. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment changed my life for better. I can proudly say i'm totally clean for 4years and still counting. Always look to nature for solution to tough problems, Shrooms are phenomenal.
I love hearing great life changing stories like this. I want to become a mycologist because honestly mushrooms are the best form of medicine (most especially the psychedelic ones) There are so many people today used magic mushrooms to ween off of SSRI medication- its amazing! Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death buddy, lets be honest here.
Hey mates! Can you help with the source? I suffer severe anxiety, panic and depression and I usually take prescription medicine, but they don't always help. Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Australia don't know much about these. I can't wait to get them too. Really need a reliable source. 🙏
I agree with the comment, the description of his experience took me on a journey and helped me to not be so afraid of the trip. My first one coming soon!
Psilocybin mushrooms have certainly had a beneficial effect on my mental health. They’ve been quite effective for me in managing my anxiety and depression.
My recovery journey was greatly enhanced by the therapeutic benefits of mushrooms. Other psychedelics like DMT and LSD have also proven to be remarkable.
Mushrooms did wonders in my life. I could remember several years ago, I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Was actually diagnosed with ADHD. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. This is something that really need to be use globally to help people with related health challenges.
Congrats buddy. I want to become a mycologist because honestly mushrooms are the best form of medicine (not just psychedelic ones) There are so many people today using magic mushrooms to ween off of SSRI medication- its amazing! Can you help me with the reliable source 🙏. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Germany. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them
YES sure of mycologist Predroshrooms. I have the same experience with anxiety, addiction. Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
I'm so very happy for you mate, Psilocybin is absolutely amazing, the way it shows you things, the way it teaches you things. I can not believe our world and our people shows less interest about it's helpfulness to humanity. It's love. The mushrooms heals people by showing the truth, it would be so beneficial for so many people, especially politicians and the rich who have lost their way and every other persons out there.
Research has shown psilocybin to have potential to treat a range of psychiatric disorders. I get to learn more about myself on a trip than I have over a year of therapy. I had my first trip with golden teachers, it was really great and relaxing. Loved it
This is the best description I’ve heard so far, but even after describing it a 1000 times, it still doesn’t describe the experience. Verbal poverty, I like that term. 🍄
I have been depressed for a long time, but after taking shrooms few months ago, l feel much happier and highly motivated and my ADHD gone , lost a ton of anxiousness and had a few epiphanies about how I should live my life. I decided to buy an ounce for backup, but haven’t yet felt the need to take any more since then.

Awesome to hear! You never tripped again after? My first was about one year ago, and my life's trajectory is heading in a much better direction since. Hard to know if coincidence or not, but I believe my 3 trips have been a huge factor.
I stood in the yard barefoot one time at 7 am after an all nighter on 3 grams and I felt like a tree. The way the ground felt on the bottom of my feet just felt like nothing I've ever experienced. It felt just as if I were a literal tree and it was an incredible experience to the point that I shed a literal tear of joy
As limited as we are by language to try and explain the mushroom experience, this was very well put. Everytime I try to explain the experience I always find myself saying things like "I'm not sure how to explain it" or "I don't quite know how to put it". This is the best description of the overall experience I've heard so far.
The power of empathy and the residual desire to use it is why the powers that be banned the use of physicodelics when they did, controlling a population where a significant proportion of people had experienced and continue to experience phcycodelics would be neer impossible, now fucking look at us.
This was an incredible video & overall description. I related to a lot of it. So many times I wished I could scrape together an explanation for it all. this is it
1:18 i remember this EXACTLY on 2 tabs of LSD. Instead of the cosmos, i called it mother nature that messaged to me, "oh so you want something more? Be grateful for this experience of being a human... for you seem to be overlooking it in an attempt to find some greater purpose."
I suffered the borderline disorder for over 23 years. With so much anxietyNot until I came across psilocybin mushrooms treatmentPsilocybin treatment actually saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms
Can you help with the reliable source I really appreciate it Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Spain. Really need
That’s why I love Sam. He has an amazing gift of words to use language as the tool it is to capture some of the best ways to understand the experience of a trip like this, even if the the tools are ultimately insufficient. ❤
agreed that's one of the main reasons I'm so drawn to him. He has a gift for speaking and writing English which is captivating to listen to. And besides that he's also a low-key liberal - not too far to the left, but still solidly in favour of scientific consensus on most issues :). Its just such a shame he gets so many maga trolls on his channel, but I'm also thankful that number is slowly decaying
Yup Sam Harris has an incredible way with words. I clicked on the video so quick. His language is one of the best explanations outside of the experience Ive ever heard.
I tried mushrooms several times in my life. The last time 8 years ago. But only one single time it really was exactely as described here. It is unexpressable total thankfulness which moved in me like warm light that I still remember feeling after I came down to earth. During the journey I was experiencing so much. Screaming against huge pillows, talking with a friend, lying around, walking from room to room and really thinking and feeling so that the whole world had place in me.
It feels amazing to know about psychedelics all thanks to this online store I was able to get some mushrooms and they got some lsd gummies cannabis xtc and another stuffs
Even as the scientist himself admits that language is the wrong tool, but I have never encountered a better description of a spiritual journey. It was beautifully and intelligently done. Thank you so much for sharing.💯
"Just return me to my normal human brain please" This hit so hard. It's the same thing i came to realize, and had the most powerful implications. Regardless of the beauty and mystery of the psychedelic experience, it is not a state we are meant to be in. It's terrifying and crippling, objectively. A human cannot fulfill their true purpose in that state. It's fine to visit, but life destroying to remain. Some people need to learn that lesson first hand in their search for understanding, but you'd be perfectly fine to trust and believe your mind is at it's best when you are sober. Some do not have the humility to admit it, and cling to the fleeting phantom of enlightenment that comes with these experiences, destroying themselves in the process..
But wait, in my experience, and the experience of many others, mushrooms don't do anything, except cause some more laughing, at moments when one would have laughed anyway. There are no effects that I had besides that. So, what does "the psychedelic experience" mean, that you can say it has a "beauty and mystery"? Sam in this video doesn't even mention that effect, laughing, but only describes having the impression that his mind could go to any new thing, while not saying that his mind actually experienced any new thing at all, and mentions forgetting that he took a drug. Sounds really dumb, to me. Why do people make a big deal of it? Some people want to waste their time taking drugs and just laughing meaninglessly, forgetting things. It doesn't sound like it's for me.
@@Llllillilililililillll Come on, please, can someone be sensible about this subject? Does it have any visual effects? Yes or no. Does it have any sensation effects? Yes or no. Everyone's on about how it has some super result that can't be described in words, meanwhile, there's no way to know if you got an effect at all, because there are no claims that it does anything that can be sensed or thought and put into words. It's all this blather in words, about how it's something that can't be put into words. Please, that sounds so stupid, some drug for which no effects or results are claimed, there's no predicted effect, no predicted thing that will change in any of your senses or thought, but somehow anyway people can go on about "breaking through" and other metaphorical effects that are totally undefined. Can you see how this is irrational? There's a drug, mushrooms, and maybe it has no effect at all, but people are talking as if there's some super effect, and as if "not being able to speak" is some sort of drug effect, rather than that maybe, if you've taken a drug that has no effects, maybe you don't have anything to say about it, or you're embarrassed to try to say anything about it, because you don't notice any effect. It's stupid, like that.
@@SonnyMoonie You know what, buddy? You're right. EVERYONE is making it up and/or exxagerating. And actually JUST to deceive you. That or we're all collectively deluding ourselves, right? You got us man, you're just too smart. Mushrooms don't do anything.
Amazing explanation... mushrooms saved my life... did not do all the 'work' for me, I also did therapy, but mushrooms really showed me/made me feel it in my body something I forgot existed since I was a child...
The sense of wonder is infinite in that moment. I think that is why spirituality ever existed. Also we shouldnt demonize psychodelics. Especially with how groundbreaking a trip can be. It can make you realize there is more to this world than we know. I dont care if someone calls it a religous experience, a spiritual experience or an ascension of consciousness. It is still meaningful.
it opens the door to parts of your mind, your psyche, your emotions that may have been closed off... sometimes from emotional trauma, sometimes just from lack of use over time
Wish I could say my trip was this wonderful. I didn't really trust anyone enough to be with me, so I did 4g all by myself, never having done it before. There was a while where I did experience profound beauty and love, but I spent more time trying desperately to regain my sense of reality and make sure I didn't do anything I shouldn't, like calling my sister or parents to gush about how much I love them. I was continually reminding myself that I'd taken drugs and it would end eventually. The day after was filled with existential dread and racing, paranoid thoughts. My overall takeaway was that I didn't need that stuff to figure things out or become a more whole person, I'm already on the right track and have the tools I need inside myself. Also that I should trust people more, and that "hell" is being alone in the universe.
I have been there and yes words fail….it was like a ferocious wind blowing through my soul and body carrying hieroglyphic information pregnant with non-religious beauty and holiness that was so shattering and sacred that I thought for sure I had died… but I was fine with it. My thimble that I brought back into this world is that everything is a contingent reality and the small, frightened and profane carnival show we are running here on earth could be completely transformed with the right language and intention toward a real and lasting new vision for the human experience beyond tribe and territory…
@olivia-rm7dk hehe I’m a well seasoned psychonaut :) As he says though, words lack the ability to describe the experience. You can’t tell someone what love feels like. Try to describe purple to a blind person. Vocabulary fails us.. you can only know love, feel love, be shown love, and show love in return. Just like the psychedelic experience
*I’ve never tried mushrooms, but I’ve had similar experiences trying ecstasy and even more powerful, my own awakening experience not induced by any substance. When Sam said, it was like “something that needed stretching, got a good stretch, for about a million years” it made me laugh. I understand this statement*
Psychedelic's definitely have potential to deal with mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, I would like to try them again but it's just so hard to source here..
Can you help me out with a source? I suffer from severe anxiety and depression and have been on prescription meds, but they haven't really helped. Where can I find psilocybin mushrooms?
This is one of the best descriptions I ever heard, but as said, words really can’t capture the essence of it. Those who have experienced it directly will nod their heads listening, others will be very confused 😀
i felt all the maternal spirits of the earth lay their healing hands on me and tell me that they wanted for so long to express their love and care for us humans but just didn't know how

I had a moment on my first mushroom trip where i was lying in bed and lost total connection to my physical body. I felt as i was just a dot of energy on my pillow such a crazy feeling and made me smile..
I love the description, I currently telling a reporter doing a story something similar, in regards to NDE vs DMT language cannot do it justice, your mind is only 1TB and the data you read from the Trip is 100kTB READ ONLY …
Thank you for sharing this video! 10 years ago, when I had my first and only mushroom trip, I had the same experience - forgetting that I had taken the drug and panicking that I never would get back to my normal life again. Was not a very pleasing experience but I don't wanna miss it.
I also had a similar experience when I tried them as a youth. 4 hours of that feeling. I do not miss it and will not try them again, but I can barely handle weed and alcohol.
Even though I rate Sam Harris very highly, I am too scared to trying anything else because just on a tiny amount of cannabis (which a psychotherapist colleague suggested to me) send me nuts overnight. It was frightening and I'm glad I had my partner with me because he said my breathing became depressed for a time. I wish I hadn't had such an extreme reaction the only time I tried a non-prescription drug! PS I worked in mental health care at the time and only some time after that experience I found that another colleague had also had a similar experience to mine. I don't understand it, of course, but I remember it only too well.
@@clivespendlove5993I’m sorry you guys had unpleasant trips. All 3 of you would have definitely benefited having a guide. I’m a fairly intelligent person and would have been able to easily navigate the situations to get you on the right path. I would recommend finding a guide if there is ever a next time, but most of them would only be able to help in each individual moment. I can see the future of the experience and would be able to warn you and comfort you. Others can do this. They just need to be intelligent, been on trips before, can constantly see the future, and have above normal empathy skills. Goodluck with any future endeavors :)
First time is usually pure bliss and everytime after that gets harder. If you had a hard time the first time then all subsequent trips would have probably been worse.
I don't think Sam offered any better explanation. If anything, this useless video made me doubt his general wisdom. I still don't get drugs or the long-term benefit. Never mind the "trip." I want to know if there is a practical justification for having the experience. So far, it seems like none.
@@LindaLoma-v2k Practically, there isn't. What Sam entailed here, which I thought the most important, is that it stretches your mind as its never been stretched before, as if it "needed" that stretch. Nobody should be doing drugs like this all the time, but for the first and only time it is experienced, it can alter you.
@@AB-tn3jd Since that alteration isn't practical, it seems useless. Since I listened to this video, yesterday, I've been wondering how does the homeless person become not homeless after experiencing a shroom trip? How does the disabled person become not disabed after a trip? How does the victim of abuse become not abused after shrooms? How does the teen who is bullied at school become not bullied because of this experience? So, thanks for addressing my questions that the experience has absolutely no practical applications and despite the mental clarity and awareness it may provide...life will still suck for people stuck in their circumstances! I mean if the experience will not help me win the lottery, then...pass.
@@LindaLoma-v2k Yup. It won't give you superpowers or anything, won't change your situation. Sometimes people attribute getting out of unfortunate situations they're in to experience(s) they've had on drugs, which is another story altogether, but generally it's just to escape reality for a bit.
I miss you, Sam. I know you'll probably never read this. But I remember listening to you back when Christopher Hitchens was around, that's how I found you. You were a guiding light for me and I read all your books. I listened to Waking Up from episode 1, back when it was a podcast. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the way you helped Sheppard me into the mind-state I'm in now. I think a lot of the most successful and fastest growing podcasts are essentially extensions of what you started. Huberman, Chris Williamson, those guys are carrying on what you started. I only wish the best for you, my man. And I hope to hear more from you, this is something you have more than a right to take part in. Most of us don't agree with you, I don't agree with you on most things I hear you say these days. It seems as though you've let your principals overtake your capacity for rational thinking sometimes. But who am I to judge. I just want you to know that I would kill to hear you get back out there the way you used to be, man. Christopher Hitchens is dead, Rest In Peace. But you're still here and I know you had the utmost respect for him... So think. What would he do? Again, who am I to talk. This comment is more of a letter, something I know you probably won't read, but something I've been holding onto for a long time. Miss you Sam, I hope you get back into the fray. It's not as bad as you think it is trust me.. worst case scenario, you give us a good laugh. You always had a good sense of humor.

"Language is the wrong tool for the job". That reminds me of something I once heard: "If you talk about spirituality, then it isn't spirituality". And even if it is not the right tool, your attempt at using it was as inspiring as it is necessary.
I’ve never tried mushrooms, but I’ve had similar experiences trying ecstasy and even more powerful, my own awakening experience not induced by any substance. 😂😂, funny enough I have the source I usually get quality mushrooms from and to be honest it really helped me alot when I was going through depression and anxiety
Never tried it due to fear of anxiety which I've experienced in every shape or form throughout my adolescent and adult life. But this is the most eloquent ad if ever there was any.
Anxiety is just thoughts, in the end. You'll see that more clearly when you trip. That's not to say you won't necessarily have a challenging time. But just because it's challenging doesn't mean it isn't life-alteringly beneficial.
@@Jacob-Vivimord agree. It's a mixture of unpleasant thoughts and accompanying bodily sensations (especially in the case of panic disorder), that at times can be overwhelming, but are nonetheless harmless. I've practiced meditation with great success with regards to dealing with OCD, to a point where the compulsions can be easily observed from a detached state. Needless to say, the practice cured the disorder. For panic disorder, I've used CBT with tremendous success, recognizing the subjectivity of sensations and distorted thinking, to a point where I readily embrace whatever comes my way (even seek it out - exposure practice). However, given my predisposition for the spectrum of anxiety disorders, and high trait neuroticism, I recognize the danger of a potentially bad experience with regards to psychedelics, especially considering the fact how profoundly deep and all encompassing they can get. Take for example panic disorder which has its roots in a harmless yet quite unpleasant, and greatly misinterpreted, experiences. Such profound fears and miss interpretations are not to be taken lightly. Yes they are harmless, but can impose unnecessary subjective suffering. Sadly, they are not a cure-for-all mental ailments.
@@slavkodesik855 Well said, and I do understand. There's certainly risks of a bad time, but that's why you have a sitter. While I agree that they are not a cure-all for mental disorders, I think a strong trip CAN help with anxiety. I'm speaking from experience, having previously been inclined towards agoraphobia myself. You're right about them being all-encompassing,. Beyond thought, beyond fear. Beyond the reality you thought you knew. That's exactly WHY they can help with panic. To be clear, though, I'm not trying to talk you into doing anything you don't want to do, haha.
During my trip I distinctly remember having to reconcile with the anxiety and I simply resolved that “I don’t care what happens, I’m already on this train, I dont even care if I die” and all the sudden the anxiety lifted and it was one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. It was almost like it was daring me to try and hang on or try and control it, and once you accept that you cant control it the real insight is revealed to you. You must let go
Sam is so intelligent and so articulate. He is not only a neuroscientist but also a poet. So rational and yet so open to new experiences. God bless you ❤

I did 5-MeO-DMT with some spiritual guidance and it changed my life forever 🙏 It actually taught me to breathe and inspired me to meditate. Go for it, Sam. I’ve done a lot of mushroom… not the same.
This was so beautiful. Reminded me of the summer in college I used marajuana as medicine. Went into that summer depressed and suicidal... came out a new, loving, amazing and happy person. From this, I can imagine mushrooms would be similar but pack a more potent punch. I also didn't experience the horrible reentry described here, wow. It's amazing how grateful we can and should be towards simple plants.
The music should be a little lower and in the background. I want to hear the voice very clearly. I've listened to almost all of Sam's podcasts and I definitely think the editors should cut a ton of these short 5-10 minute audio snippets and make a lot of content to encourage subscription. Go back and start from episode 1! Also would be great if there was a reference to the episode number if listeners want to watch more after subscribing.
That was a great way to describe it. In my case, I didnt had the bad thoughts after reentry, I had a bad trip in the middle, became paranoid, but came back normal, just like he said.
I’m so happy to hear this, I truly believe that all people should experience this at least once. It would really be great if you could actually describe what you saw though, can you do a follow up video?
I just remember voices speaking to me from out of the sky, houses contorting into bizarre creatures, and pictures on the wall coming out of their frames and melting into grotesque faces. And that was just part of the LSD experience. The rest is way beyond words. It was a laugh a minute.
Only Sam can articulate that which cannot be told and only untold. I always hesitate to describe a visionary experience like these because it’s a disservice to everyone.
The moment I took mushrooms for the first time and it starting to work after 30-45 minutes, my severe depression was gone as fast as a snowflake lasts in hell. It's hard to comprehend that there's so many people are walking around depressed and either don't know about the medicinal properties of mushrooms or think it's bad because it's called "drugs". I really hope that one day mushrooms will be accepted worldwide as the way to end depression.
I have felt very calm and happy coming back down from the heights. I can enjoy and be grateful for the wonderful journey, while also comfortably falling back into the warm embrace of reality. For me, psilocybin has been generous in all ways.
@@TheAlpineAddict There are states which can only be attained through deep reflection, meditation, and expansion of one's heart center and mind, without any use of drugs at all. One typically has to reach a certain 'stage' of consciousness in order to experience such a state. States are temporary, stages are permanent. Imagine an intellectually gifted child, who is allowed to skip multiple grades. While it may seem okay to take a child and place him with older children at his intellectual level, it is not without subtle developmental consequences.
Better than any words to describe, is to actually go there yourself and experience a different reality than the one you just left behind. But do so only in a nonthreatening environment, with people you can trust explicitly. The rest is up to your subconscious imagination as your personal tour guide as though you're in a 2-3-hour-long REM dream that you will never forget.
Sam is a brilliant and refreshing addition to Humankind. He is (ironically) a "godsend". We used to pick mushrooms from cow pastures..and we didn't throw them away but instead consumed them and laughed our asses off for the first two hours.. then listened to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and "Dark Side of the Moon" while watching the WALLS of our apartment "Breathe". Good Times.

That was awesome. My first experience with mushrooms was just as beautiful. It helped me see what it was that I needed to do in life. I am very grateful that I was able to learn what I did during that experience
@@TheKarlslok well at that point, I had dropped out of school and was sort of doing nothing with my life. I was living in a friend's basement smoking pot everyday. However I realized during my mushroom trip that family was really important to me. That I needed to straighten out my life before I could even imagine having a family. I went back to school, finished university, found my current wife, kept my eye on the goal, had my first child, and last year I was finally able to buy a house. Not bragging or anything, I honestly believe it helped me for the better
@@Tony-bu3lnit truly does bro, im 17 years old. i did shrooms a few days ago. I finally quit weed, I have so much more motivation, and i just have this intense feeling of appreciation for life
Enlightenment is the closest singular word I can think of. Of course, that doesn't encompass the entire experience, but it does describe a massive chunk of the experience.
That's a pretty good version of it- I liken it to: getting disassembled, by whatever- then building yourself back to where you were before, with some awe thrown in to feel lucky to be alive-
Well In hindsight, I was one of those people who probably needed a guide.. After a nightmare of a trip which ending up with me In a mental health ward 6 weeks later.. I can only advocate for extreme caution. Even considering my roughly dozen or so psychedelic experiences before this had all been wonderful.. my anxiety, depression, and undiagnosed ADD was a recipe for disaster waiting to happen. It took months break free from what was likely a bizarre drug induced delusion, it at least started off as one, but then a nightmare unfolded which I still can't be sure was a delusion, almost 2 years after it all. I'm much stronger than ever before in regards to mental health now at least, but it wasn't an ideal way to get there. I possibly had synesthesia where I heard my own thoughts as other peoples voices, and began to catastrophize a scenario where my friends in my the LSD trip with me thought badly of me, and misunderstood me, which then somehow escalated into them thinking I was some kind of maniac, and from there wanting to coerce me into suicide, and if I didn't comply, they'd kill me them selves and make it look like suicide.. And like Sam's mushroom trip, there's another galaxy worth of details to this story that would take a lot of time to unfold, but at least now I'm writing a book about it all to explain what I can, In hope that it can help prevent others suffering from mental health struggles which are all too common.
Every trip is different. As a young person in 60's, I had at least one really bad LSD trip that finally put me off drugs. It can start off great and take a turn to become horrifying. I don't see how a handler could have stopped it either. I don't know what determines any of that for individuals but wasn't a good thing for me to experiment with drugs.
Thank you for sharing your experience . It provides much needed balance. As a college tutor I’ve witnessed the aftermath for some young people which align with what you describe.
It is difficult for me to fathom the experience of forgetting that one has consumed a substance and that one will eventually revert to their usual state. I am deeply apprehensive about the possibility of forgetting the memory of taking a drug.
This is the best advert I have ever seen for those that haven’t tried psychedelics! 🙂 This was so beautiful with its psychedelic imagery and relaxing music👍👍
What do you think it says about what psychedelics are supposed to do? It doesn't say that mushrooms caused any feeling or sensation for him. It doesn't say it caused any hallucinations or distortions of perception, even something trivial seeming like brighter colors. All he's saying is like it caused an experience that seemed important, of his mind seeming open or able to go further, and forgetting that he took a drug. That's purely cognitive effects that he mentioned, and not good ones, really stupid sounding cognitive effects, that sound undesirable: to have the illusion one's mind is open and free to think of anything, without saying one actually thought of anything different, or experienced anything really different. I didn't get any feeling or sensation or tingling or hallucination or colors or cognitive effect when I tried it. I just laughed more, when I was watching a stupid television comedy anyway, as I and the people I was with would do anyway on an evening back then. I was okay with it, and wasn't saying much, which seemed like because I didn't know to expect more from it seriously anyway. What do you think of that? Did I miss something about what it was supposed to do? I still don't know, from this video explanation or description, which doesn't help. Do you still think the video is a good explanation or description?
@@SonnyMoonie Firstly, it sounds like you didn't take a psychedelic dose. But it also sounds like you were approaching it as a recreational experience. What I mean by that, is that a more appropriate setting is a dark room with some headphones on, playing relaxing music. Not kicking back in front of a movie with several other people.
I experienced the trip young, after 25 years of indoctrination in the same Rockefeller founded educational system we were all in and it had nothing to do with going out into space like Sam’s… now 25 years later it would be a pleasure to experience another trip now knowing what I do… living in a world 50+ years full of lies, JFK, Moon Landings, 911, ISS, vaccines and thousands of others… now knowing unequivocally that earth is an intelligently created enclosed electrical topographical stationary level plane and not a globe should make the trip very pleasurable… peace on the plane brothers and sisters…

If I gave the grade , "not bad" it would be the highest grade I have given in a long while. The description is clarity driven. Memory of various perceptions, are their own category. You are cleanly yourself while in, and cleanly yourself afterward. Sam did a good description. There is continuity of self, while under recognition of extreme change in perception.
Good for you, Sam, I'm glad you found benefit in the experience. I can't help thinking that this type of experience is tied into the physicist's problem of Dark Matter and Dark Energy. And that different tools may be needed to "find" the rest of the Universe.

you just described 90% of my trips. As for words as language, this is what occurred to me during the trip: words are a means of expression exclusive to the physical plane, which is why they are of no use in other dimensions. in fact they become something abstract and fun at best.
one thing about a bad trip, first…if you’re in one…keep telling yourself that you are on what you’re on..and it’s normal…..second…I think bad trips help facilitate the breaking up of held onto mental baggage…like stuff you were mad about you’re able to just let it be, rather than it continually eat at you….my first trip was high and happy, second was a “bad” trip….I needed both honestly, but the bad was for sure a wild ride…but during I kept reassuring myself, and had a hope of peace and love…and eventually it came. peAce.
The state of my brain during/after reentry is what has always scared me the most and steered me away from trying psychedelics. Also the "time dilation" thing. It does become more and more tempting to try it though with every good thing you say about them.

Wonderful description of something which cant really be decribed. I laughed and cried a bit. That praying to be back to "normal", yep. The complete loss of self-identity is another one. Who am I? wtf is going on here etc. Usually after a trip my mind feels somehow refreshed, as if defragmented and rebooted.

As limited as we are by language to try and explain the mushroom experience, this was very well put. Everytime I try to explain the experience I always find myself saying things like "I'm not sure how to explain it" or "I don't quite know how to put it". This is the best description of the overall experience I've heard so far.

This hit so hard.
@@SonnyMoonie breaking through is what i mean. You are unable to speak in that state. Im not talking about a gram of mushrooms with your friends.
@@SonnyMoonie you just said a whole lot of nothing, my friend. Please learn how to coherently put sentences together. Thanks.

Well said - we can use these medicines, but they won’t help/ heal our trauma w/o all the extra integration work as well
That was so beautifully " said" for total lack of a better word. My deepest thanks
Fabulous ! Yes , indeed an attitude adjustment AND a mind-bending experience ! Recommend if you try it , do so with close friends
Thank you for sharing useful info. I intend to take but will be more aware on how to, after your comments
This. Yes. Thank you for articulating this as well as you did. ❤
Excellent. The statment, " lanuguage doesn't suffice," describes a psycehdelic experience very aptly.
That by definition is a religious experience
Thanks for putting it more beautifully than I ever could

Thank you for sharing this video! 10 years ago, when I had my first and only mushroom trip, I had the same experience - forgetting that I had taken the drug and panicking that I never would get back to my normal life again. Was not a very pleasing experience but I don't wanna miss it.
I also had a similar experience when I tried them as a youth. 4 hours of that feeling. I do not miss it and will not try them again, but I can barely handle weed and alcohol.
That feeling only happens first time because your mind don’t believe it will reassemble. Subsequent times you will think of that fear as silly.
This is so beautifully said. Words always fail me when trying to explain a mushroom trip, so thank you for sharing this!

You must let go
Psychedelics have permanently cured anxiety disorders for some people.

Mushrooms are nothing like mamajuana. I don't personally experience that reentry experience from mushrooms myself.
Please more videos like this.
That was a great way to describe it. In my case, I didnt had the bad thoughts after reentry, I had a bad trip in the middle, became paranoid, but came back normal, just like he said.
I am missing the “not so platonic relationship with the jaguar” 😂
I’m so happy to hear this, I truly believe that all people should experience this at least once.
It would really be great if you could actually describe what you saw though, can you do a follow up video?
I quite enjoyed this monotone explanation of the incredible : )
I just remember voices speaking to me from out of the sky, houses contorting into bizarre creatures, and pictures on the wall coming out of their frames and melting into grotesque faces. And that was just part of the LSD experience. The rest is way beyond words.
It was a laugh a minute.
Only Sam can articulate that which cannot be told and only untold. I always hesitate to describe a visionary experience like these because it’s a disservice to everyone.
Terence McKenna was the master though Sam’s explanation mirrors much of what TM articulated some time ago
@@CalumnMcAulay yes, Sam Harris got a lot of his interest and advice in taking psychedelics from Terence. He’s always given Terence credit
Wow, amazing animations! Loved the video.
I have felt very calm and happy coming back down from the heights. I can enjoy and be grateful for the wonderful journey, while also comfortably falling back into the warm embrace of reality.
For me, psilocybin has been generous in all ways.
Don't take it for granted guys, beware of unearned wisdom.

Wisdom is gained by reflecting on past experience, so what exactly is unearned wisdom?
Good Times.
Man I used to walk through cow shit patties as a teen and adult, and if I only knew that entrance or escape was just under my feet....
I used to do this when i lived on oahu.

That was awesome. My first experience with mushrooms was just as beautiful. It helped me see what it was that I needed to do in life. I am very grateful that I was able to learn what I did during that experience
What did you need to do in life, that your trip made you realize?
Sam-Thanks. you made great vlog.
That's a pretty good version of it-
I liken it to: getting disassembled, by whatever-
then building yourself back to where you were before, with some awe thrown in to feel lucky to be alive-
Well In hindsight, I was one of those people who probably needed a guide..

I appreciate you sharing your experience with the spirit world. A window more clear than any debate.
Wish it was a legal treatment in my country.
Waited exactly for this. Thank you Sam.
Good for you, Sam, I'm glad you found benefit in the experience. I can't help thinking that this type of experience is tied into the physicist's problem of Dark Matter and Dark Energy. And that different tools may be needed to "find" the rest of the Universe.

Sam’s a day tripper now
you just described 90% of my trips.
As for words as language, this is what occurred to me during the trip: words are a means of expression exclusive to the physical plane, which is why they are of no use in other dimensions. in fact they become something abstract and fun at best.
Thank you, sir, your work has changed my life for the better.
one thing about a bad trip, first…if you’re in one…keep telling yourself that you are on what you’re on..and it’s normal…..second…I think bad trips help facilitate the breaking up of held onto mental baggage…like stuff you were mad about you’re able to just let it be, rather than it continually eat at you….my first trip was high and happy, second was a “bad” trip….I needed both honestly, but the bad was for sure a wild ride…but during I kept reassuring myself, and had a hope of peace and love…and eventually it came. peAce.
There's a bit of Terrence Mckenna here.
..and there
This is so beautiful.
The state of my brain during/after reentry is what has always scared me the most and steered me away from trying psychedelics. Also the "time dilation" thing. It does become more and more tempting to try it though with every good thing you say about them.
As long as you're somewhere you dont mind being at for ages time dilation is a feature, not a bug.
@jon4139 You will literally feel that you are in the universe and you are the universe. Experiencing the eternity of what is the universe.
just be in a safe quiet place - you can have a sitter if you know someone who is trustworthy, but you probably won't need it - and nice relaxing music
Same thing for me, it is tempting, but I'm afraid.
@@pedroba76 just do a small dose. One stem won't make you jump out of your skin. If you like the feeling try a larger dose on a later date or take some then and there.

beautifully spoken Sam, Namaste baby!
You are playing with demons and do not even know it.
