This is a BIG step in the right direction for Houdini. As a compositor who's been delving further into houdini + solaris, I can easily see myself slap-comping here without having to render out passes and run them through Nuke, especially for earlier steps in the pipeline prior to compositing. Great tutorial series, thanks!
SideFX did say that it's planning to make the new COP network into a compositing environment, so maybe (hopefully) camera and point tracking are in the works?
Syntheyes has years of specialized development of camera tracking. It’s cheap and has scripts to work in Houdini instantly. Cinema 4d has camera tracking but sucks!
This tutorial series is great, thank you for that Moeen - very pto It's looks very good for such a quick setup to be honest. Question: would it be hard to make background plate node work with xpu?
Great tutorial series, as usual! It's pretty amazing, being newly trained as a compositor, seeing the stuff that our instructors taught us in Nuke only being done right in Houdini. :)
I love sidefx. They take good care of their customers.

I was really surprised at how much of Nuke's functionality is already built into COPs :)
Pleasantly surprised, that is :)
I would recommend to expose the "use background" option to the UI of the background node by default.
Such a shame Houdini does not have a camera tracking function. Would complete Houdini for me as a toolset.

Thanks for the video! What program did you use for tracking? Just curious )

Thanks! Are you certain your method for UV the animated ground is the smartest?
Thanks

All that now houdini lacking is camera tracking
