The two feet cut off the top can be cut into smaller pieces (2x2, 1x1) and wrapped in flannel to make portable design boards. Those can be used to transport block pieces/ sections from the design wall to the sewing machine. Keeps everything organized and in the right order! Thanks for another great tutorial! 👍
I really love how well the fabric sticks to this particular flannel and I really like the grid. I never thought about making two panels and store them on top of or next to each other. That would be great for my little sewing room where the closet prevents me from having a wide enough design wall. They can live on top of each other when not in use, then spread out in front of the closet for a full design wall. I’m doing it!!!
This is the best permanent type of design board I've seen yet. I have a portable one that's ok but I'm not thrilled with it. I love the stackable idea where you can have different projects going at once. Thank you.
Love this tutorial, it is so helpful. I’m 81 a nd have been using the back of a vinyl picnic tablecloth. Worked pretty well, but this will be neater! Thank you all so much with sharing! Love your channel!
Wonderful idea, because I have used the same boards and made 4 smaller ones, 2 large ones, used white flannel also about 10 years ago now. But I made like a pillow case that had print on the back side and a velcro opening and slide them off to wash. A lint brush will remove a lot of the tiny threads etc so laundering is not needed as much. But have never seen the flannel with the 2" grid on them. One day it might be available up here in Canada hey.I do the same as Dorreen with my small ones, transport from cutting board to machine
I love this...ordered my design wall flannel fabric and picking up the foam core board today...Now I won't have to lay everything on my floor...wahoo...you guys rock! Oh, by the way, I got my order I placed end of last week...The Fabric Patch is sooo quick to get things shipped out...can't wait to make a trip over to your store...I tell everyone they need to order from you guys...if they do, they'll be working on their project in a matter of days. Have a terrific Labor Day weekend Fabric Patch Crew.
Oh wow! I must get some of this flannel and make two or three of these design walls! I've got Dale Hardware here locally; I bet they've got foam board in their drywall section. Thanks, Cindi, you're a peach!
Apparently the flannel grid wall fabric is all sold out. Your shop is carrying a design grid wall that folds up. This isn’t fabric to place on my board is it? Are you going to get anymore grid fabric?
Best one yet and simple for me to do. Home Depot here I come

Awesome Cindy!! I’m gonna be going to Home Depot to pick up my foam board and am ordering from you this week!!
Excellent!!
Thank you so much for this video. Been wondering how I could make that grid fabric work 🤔
Love it!
Thank you!
Great idea!
Brilliant i need this😎
Awesome video! I was thinking of using plywood, but foam core is so much better, light weight and pin-able. Look for my order soon for grid flannel!
We will get it right out to you!!
Really great idea. Wall space is perfect. I tried laying out the pieces on a . mattress buy I still didn't get the results I wanted.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'd like to place an order for the flannel grid but I don't know how much fabric to order for the 4 x 6 foot design wall. Thank you!
We use a 2 1/4 yard piece.
Is it necessary to prewash the flannel first, also what type of pins did you use to pin the blocks ? Thankyou.
Not necessary to prewash at all. The pins are just my basic quilting pins.

If I want to make it the full 8 feet, how many yards of fabric do I need?
apprx 2 and 2/3yds
But, first to order fabric.
Thank you!
