Being a Patreon, albeit at middle tier that doesn't get name up, I accept my part of your Thanks, lol.
The BTS for this was very sweet.
This was filmed in a studio at Layne's home. All objects in the room are hand-picked by him to give the connection to either VP or his family. The VP plaquet, Layne's violin, notes to Hamilton on the piano for Deejay, gaming figures for Cesar, a simple recording set-up etc for the group
The jewelry sign a memory of his grandmother. Layne walked us all round the room pointing out things.
All to show the facts that all VP member have their own place/private room back home where they can retreat to play with music, try out sounds and notes and be creative and be themselves in.
Layne stapled dark curtains on the outside of the windows for establishing the light effects. Lights and also costumes this time by Eli. The galaxy light tube for the stars on the floor btw Deejay and Cesar.

VP use a lot of symbolism in their covers, and I’ve discovered that with them recently. Very creative!

In barbershop, we call that little "push" just beyond staccato "backspin." There are a LOT of chord-stack choices and tuning in this one that hearken back to Layne and Geoff's experience in the barbershop world. Of course, Brian Wilson used a lot of barbershop influence in his music to start with.

If you want to really be wowed then you must please please do a reaction of Cesar singing live ( If I Loved You ) from Carousel. Voice Play behind the scenes of their live show. It was posted by one of their members. Cesar can really belt out a song & with great feeling/emotion.

I think Cesar's talent gets overlooked a lot of times as people tend to focus on Geoff or Eli in songs. He has an amazing voice and a huge vocal range.

When Layne arranged this, he envisioned the song as being about the rooms that each of them have in their homes, where they can record and be creative.
When Geoff and Layne started the group, Layne was the baritone. But when Scott Porter left to pursue his acting career, Layne took over the beatboxing and they got another baritone (Tony Wakim).
In addition to their arrangements, their attention to the look of the video helps make them distinctive. This was filmed in Rayne’s Room Recording Studio. Owned by Layne, they have filmed many videos here including ACA Top 10s and Chandelier.
When Layne dressed the set he included items for each VoicePlay member, Deejay, his daughters, his grandmother, and his wife’s family. Items he added for himself included his violin, his hoverboard and a book of his favorite Disney movie.

Oh, so this is Layne’s arrangement then? That’s an interesting catch!

That initial rhythm section-watch what they’re doing with their hands.
Totally agree-I LOVE hearing more of Layne’s voice. Makes me happy.
I think Cesar does at least a few high harmonies in this, despite being billed as the baritone. He’s been filling in that range quite a bit. He has a really nice tone up into the fifth octave, as we heard in Dream On. And I really like Eli in his lower register so it’s a nice switch up now and then.
The intimacy of that breathy bass solo (with the crickets singing backup) is really sweet. Great choice-and then Eli matches when he comes in, which is also terrific. And I KNEW you’d catch that layered G1. LOL.
Nope-it’s Layne this time. If there’s something we haven’t heard before, perc-wise, it’s usually Layne’s doing. Plus, Geoff just turned in a master class with Nothing Else Matters, so of course we need Layne to step up and knock us over as well.
I like the way you pick it apart! Great reaction/analysis!

DeeJay is astounding. Sorry, wrong! Layne arranged this one. :)
