Totally agree with your sentiments Nick with regard to the criticism that you received following your video on the TFT screen security bracket fitment.
Hi Roger. Thanks. I think the 2nd point bordered on valid but sometimes if you don’t shoe people they feel fitment is above them. Criminals want it easy and if you’re that worried then buy different sized fasteners! 👍🏻
Mine arrived this week…I installed it tonight and was very thankful for your video to aid with install as the directions were certainly lacking! Now that I’ve got this installed I’m going to add the touratech spoiler!!! Should be perfect now…
Thanks Nick. Was just sorting the order of the washers on the the thumb nut part of the set up (they'd been wrongly fitted prior to my acquisition of the bike) and I remembered you'd been there, done that, so was able to get it right!
THX Nick! Just ordered for my new GS with GSA screen here in Seattle! I’m not very mechanically inclined but this install looks super easy, even for me :-)
@@nickhodgeUK Hi Nick, many thanks for video. I've had the MRA screen for 5 years and it's been moved from my original GS to a GSA and on to my current GSA; I've never felt the need to get it braced as I've not noticed that much movement. It's all personal of course and maybe I've been lucky in the way I've configured it. Cheers, Andy
@@nickhodgeUK Nick, Mark, I fitted the MRA on my r1250gs, I think it's called vario-touring screen. Works very well but you'll definetely need the brace to stiffen it up, when you ride behind or near a lorry or van, exposed to the slip-stream it tends to buffet. Other than that I can really recommend it for riders who, like me, have to endure a lot of motorway miles (or kms as we call them over here). Thank you for your very useful video. After seeing it, I see that it is really worth while installing those braces. Cheers
It took me 3 hours to fit the screen brace - very fiddly if you've got fat fingers and a Cymarc TFT anti-theft bracket fitted - eventually completed the fitment, but the brackets slightly scratched my MRA screen whilst I was trying to get them in the correct position.
Another good video. Thanks. I broached the subject of these thefts with BMW UK and asked if they were doing anything themselves to prevent these thefts by fitting the braces as a standard fitting, or in fact doing a recall and fitting them for folks who had already made a purchase. Unfortunately they just showed very little interest and said it was our problem and our insurers and not there problem. Oh well can’t help trying!!
Hi Nick, great video as always, full of detail and common sense. My TFT anti theft bracket came after 3 weeks due to order backlog, but great communications from Cymarc throughout, part fitted beautifully, sent a positive review to them. I too am looking forward to your tour videos, keep up the good work.
Nice one Nick. I have these fitted to my GSA, and they do make a big difference. The only criticism I have with them are the cheap SS bolts, which have heads as durable as cheese, especially the small screen bolts and the fact that the adjusting bolts come lose over time and one of mine dropped out on my last tour. For less than a £7, I replaced all the fixings with better quality torx head bolts and longer adjusting bolts, which allow a lock nut to be placed on the end.
Great rerview..I had gone with an EGRO screen from Wunderlich with a reinforced bracket....months...thumbs up for the lads at Cymarc for marketing...I am in Canada.
Cheers again Steve. I must review some screens if I can get hold on some. Seems it’s a very personal choice. I’ve only ever used the original firmest on my three but I do have an MRA (with deflector) destined for my GS, but then I bought the GSA with bigger screen anyhow 🤣
Great Video thanks for this. I'm going to see if I can order this in the states. In all of my videos, you can see that I seem to get a rattle from the vibration at certain RPMs.
Interesting! Haven't experienced any particular screen wobble or vibration, but have had trouble with screen slip (or slump), which is to say my screen begins to slip down from the height I've selected, down to where IT wants to be. I can actually watch this happen at speed--I raise it up, it slides slowly back down again. Well it's my bike isn't it?! I should be the one to decide where the damn screen should be and where it should stay, shouldn't I?! I think you may have the answer.
Mine arrived today, a quick look at your vid and hey presto! Still slightly annoys me that the washers in the set are not reduced for the near side fixings to fit in the recess. I had to use the smaller ones that I fortunately had available when I put on when I put my TFT protector on.
