    I grew up in the 70's we were not allowed in the kitchen when the pressure cooker was on, it was then covered with a towel and it was a 2 person job to take it out into the back garden lol. Still to this day (I'm 53) I think i would be too scared to use one x x x

      Ha ha - I'm 54 & scared to death of a pressure cooker to. The steam & seeing the lid flying off those things as a child was so scary. Not in my kitchen I'd rather wait for food to cook properly.

      @@TracyJane67 the tea towel & taking into the back garden 70s memories - think my mum just kept hers in as a cupboard ornament in the end it was huge as we had to clean around it when tidying up the pans😆😅🤣. Kerry when u released the steam it sent shivers down my spine 🤢😟. I'm deffo a team slow cooker kinda gal.

      I grew up in the 70's too and mum always did the christmas ham in the pressure cooker. It was scary, the noises and then seeing splatters on the ceiling. lol

    Just making your chicken noodle soup for the first time. Also first time user of the instant pot. After I put on the time as 7 minutes nothing was cooked properly by my kitchen clock, the carrots were still hard. What I have since learned is that it had only come to pressure just after 7 minutes on my clock and that it only starts counting those 7 minutes down once the ON changes to 7. Just in case there are other newbies like me trying out their instant pot for the first time. Soup was delicious once I figured that out so thank you. X

    • @KerryWhelpdale
      @KerryWhelpdale  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes.. once the time starts counting down that is when your time starts.. sorry I should have said that in the intro.. once the pin pops up and the pot beeps.. that’s when your pot is at pressure and the time will start counting down :)xxx

    I got one for Christmas, and I’ve just pulled it out of the box today. I really want to make broccoli cheddar soup. My veggies are out and chopped, my cream and butter is measured out and waiting. I’ve read the booklet twice. Now I’m scouring the internet to try to gain some confidence lol. I’m a 39 yr old woman and I’m completely petrified of this thing for some reason 😬

      Have a look at the Cooking and Calm channel, Valentino. Good clear how-to's, and some interesting recipes.

    If you've got a Halal butcher near you, Kerry, you might try using goat meat instead of lamb. Very tasty, but probably best not to tell the family until after they've eaten it. (!!)
    My local Halal store - the Dubai Market, in Cliftonville - has a butchery counter at the rear and he'll cut up whatever joint you buy just the way you want it.

      @ez858 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KerryWhelpdale there is an ace IP community on Facebook with lots of advice and recipes. I will say with rice pudding it does have a tendency to burn so many recipes call for butter first, on sauté, to melt, add rice like you would risotto, stirring to coat, add liquids and sugar and bring to boil whilst stirring. Then add lid and cook on high pressure. It’ll come to pressure quickly as liquid already hot. Adding flavourings after cooking.
      Importantly you’ll want to allow a NPR (natural pressure release) and definitely don’t want to do a QPR (quick pressure release) as the milk will foam when heated (like a cappuccino) and if you QPR you’ll be cleaning milk from everything nearby (I learned the hard way)

      Hi if you put veg such as chunky carrots onions or celery in first ur sauce shouldn't stick. I read the instructions that came with my slow cooker to always put veg in 1st sauce then sit meat on top & give a good stir about half way through - I cant resist as recommended that shouldn't take lid off in between.

      Put your thicker sauces on top of all other ingredients and dont stir it in. Pressure cook then stir. Your liquid has to be thin for PC or it will stick.

    works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside th-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
