- The moment you’ve all been waiting for. Today, we reveal the winners of the Wristcheck x Audemars Piguet #YourTakeOnTheRoyalOak competition!
We want to say a colossal THANK YOU for inspiring us with your creativity and exuberance. We looked at every single one of your designs, and read every word you wrote. You truly are all winners in our eyes.
In fact, we were so blown away by your creations that having to choose just three winners was literally impossible - so we chose FIVE.
These designs were selected with the ultimate goal of having the watches actually produced.
And while there were so many exceptional ideas that we could only dream of one day bringing to life, feasibility was a huge deciding factor - the winning designs had to realistically be able to be made with the know-how and tools we have access to today.
We also had to consider the design’s applicability to the Royal Oak’s silhouette, as well as synergies in ethos. In essence, the design had to ring true to the DNA of the Royal Oak.
We also promised that anyone - with any level of technical ability - could win, as long as we resonated with the concept. We tried our very best to honor this.
With that said, here are the five winning designs for the Wristcheck x Audemars Piguet #YourTakeOnTheRoyalOak competition. A massive congratulations to all winners - we’ll be in touch, and will see you in Le Brassus!
And finally, to all of our amazing participants - as well as those of you that didn’t get the chance to submit a design this time around - don’t worry, this is just the beginning of what Wristcheck will bring to the table. There will be more opportunities like this in the future.
So, much like the Royal Oak, stay bold, and keep breaking boundaries.

Honestly, I expected a much better selection. I have seen much better ideas than the selected ideas of the winners. For example, the black one with moon phase and star dial is an idea that has been seen a million times, in many brands, even many Chinese brands have the same dial.
Honestly I feel the same,
I submitted a proposal to implement their old star wheel flying hour movement, with some suggestions on slight modification and while I’m no artist and dont think it was the best looking design given my poor photoshop skills, I expected to see the winners bringing forward new and innovative complications, heck I even played around with how one could do a half mechanical, half smart watch concept.
Congratulations to the five winners 🏆. But the 4th one is worth it but the rest 4 ???

I am a bit disappointed that my designs did not reach the top however with so many talented designers with such unique takes on the icon it was to be expected. Well deserved winners!🎉

I've honestly seen much better designs than the ones chosen. They are already something seen from before with other brands.

Totally agreed, honestly all of the ones selected were underwhelming, I wonder what their main judgement was based on. Some of the ones I saw on Instagram blew these out of the water!

That shipwreck look is forced patina with clear coat, the knife community does it all the time with bronze, copper and maxamet mostly.

It cannot win because it is linked as a collaboration with another company and that means advertising without a contract. One of the biggest mistakes of the participants was that their models were linked as collaborations with other companies.
I think.....Looking at that selection, Personally, I would NOT buy anyone of the designs as an individual who LOVES AP from childhood....It is ultra important to not try out of visual tiredness to Trivialize the AP (Royal OAK Essence), Royal is a serious geometric timepiece and I know the selection is in rather misled taste. You are NOT making expensive Swatches, Remember what made AP .....You are level with VC & PP, so keep it beautifully mature!

This brand became a joke in the recent years, nothing special Just trying to milk the royal oak line , please go back to the history and recreat some of the beautiful and classy watches
I expected much more innovative designs. This selection is very mediocre and simple. Nicely finished drawings but without any idea or soul in them.
