    I am new here so I'm going through the archives a bit. I think your take on scarves was well worth watching. Not so many looks as to confuse but enough so most people could find at least a couple to wear. I like the organized messiness of many of the styles.

    You've inspired me to pull out my silk scarves again! I used to wear them a lot (exactly how you showed, hanging at the back, choker-style, on my hear and tied around the torso as a top!!) but since I've started working from home, have fallen into a scarf-less slump. No more, thanks to you!

    Running up to grab my Hermes silk scarf I purchased in Paris so many years ago. I have not seen this way to style a scarf and I have seen a lot. I can't imagine why...it is simple and elegant. The scarf tying tutorials made a similar look so complicated to style...this is EASY! Love the shawl scarf section where you pulled that bit through before tying it. It was that little move that I have not seen...or missed in numerous other tutorials....including Eileen Fisher's fab tutorials. I have a large scarf collection, so will be eager to try these out. After decades of teaching....one of the big gifts parents/children gave to teachers were scarves. Most are gorgeous and I have kept...they include a wide range of sizes, fabrics, shapes, and colors....some made by the students themselves. So this was fun!

      I'm so glad you found this video useful and that you can get some use out of those wonderful teaching mementoes! And that Hermes ;) Will have to check out Eileen Fisher's videos too :) Thank you for watching Lisa and have a great week!

    Thank you Alyssa! Enjoyed your video.
    Yes scarves are an essential style element for me. I have the bulk of my mother’s silk scarves, in addition to my personal collection of cashmere, wool, pashmina, silk, silk jersey, cotton scarves. In the winter I always add a scarf to my outfit. In warmer weather I tie one on the handle of my purse.
    I tie the two ends of the shorter side of a large rectangular scarf together, than repeat at the other end, then I drape the long side of the scarf over my shoulders and I put and arms through the holes of the tied ends. Now I have a loose cardigan wrap. Useful when I travel. Very versatile. I tie the scarf on my purse, so I don’t have to carry a cardigan.

    • @AlyssaBeltempo
      @AlyssaBeltempo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jeannette!! I imagine your silk scarf collection is lovely ... I love the idea of still getting use out of your scarf by tying the handle on your bags .. so chic and a great way to add colour!
      Also love the way you create a bolero and cardigan with a larger scarf! Thank you for sharing :)
      I hope you have a wonderful week, thank you for watching :) xoxo

    Great inspiration. This year I am making it a point to shop my closet before making new purchases. I especially loved the silk scarf tutorial as I have many that I have collected and inherited. My friend gifted me a really lovely silk scarf from France and I struggle with how to wear it. I feel like it's much smaller than the silk scarf you were working with and I was hoping to be able to do the "western" type tie with it, but I find it too short/small for that. I'll try the neck tie and see if I like that on myself. I have a neutral sand colored hand bag that I was thinking of tying it onto... but I feel like the scarf is too large for that purpose lol. I just want to be able to wear this lovely gift! ha ha.

    Loved the numerous -best- ways to wear scarves. Would love to see video on care (washing, ironing, steaming, sewing unraveled edges or weaving pulled bit of blanket scarf...best storage methods to prevent wrinkling). Many of the scarves can be expensive. Other than dry cleaning - which I often dont trust ( I worked in a dryclepaning store/ mgf in my teens). Finally to remove the tags or not. If not hoe to wear to hide. Thanks.

I like that smart thinking, even thou, we heve a small closet

    Thanks for this! Never knew that first tip of knotting the silk scarf. Will practice your tips on the larger scarves. I never feel mine look as good as they could.

    Yay! I've been waiting to see some of your scarves. The sound is better this week too! I just gave my daughter several of my scarves because she is tall and young, like you. My silk ones are smaller thsn yours so I usually just knot it at the neck for a French look. My bigger, heavier scarves get little use here in Texas.

    Thank you for this one! I discovered silk scarves only a few years ago and have racked up a collection now! What scarf tie styles look best depend on the colors and patterns in the fabric as well as what's flattering on you (sadly, I don't look good with them tied close to my neck, but there are plenty of other options!). There are lots of Hermes demos which work great with any silk scarves...I made a note of the tie styles I liked the best and narrowed the choices down to what looks good on me. Now, when I get a new scarf, I experiment with different ties, take pics of the ones I like with that scarf.

    • @AlyssaBeltempo
      @AlyssaBeltempo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that is such a great idea to take pictures and learn a new way to tie depending on the scarf. I will have to check out the Hermes tutorials they sound great. Thank you for sharing and watching! xx

    Hi Alyssa! Thank you for this video! it was exactly what I was hoping when I suggested this topic. ❤ Absolutely not too obvious tips, but actually useful in everyday outfits. Never before I have liked that kind of choker scarf style, but you managed to make it look really good and not too planned or posh. So maybe I need to give it a try, maybe as a kind of fake turtleneck now in winter time. And I really liked that your tips were (also) for cold atmosphere, and you took it seriously that in real life, winter coats need to be used closed so you don't freeze. 😄

    Sorry I'm late. I just found this. I LOVE scarves. My husband doesn't get why I have so many and that they are an accessory, not just to keep your neck warm! :) Marie-Anne Lecoeur (and you) have me loving on my silk scarves again. I need my big blanket scarf these days, though ( Can you spell Toronto?) ;) I have a very wide, "reversible" infinity scarf (one half pattern and the other solid) that I have found at least five different ways to wear. I get my money's worth out of my things, haha. I will look forward to your video on Sunday. Thanks, Alyssa!

    New to your Channel and loving it! I had a 4 hour marathon yesterday watching some of your videos from last year! Really enjoyed this video too - I have a beautiful silk scarf that my Dad (now 85 yo) wore when he was a young man. It is a beautiful blood red and I love wearing it. Thank you for the new ideas on how to tie it. You have a beautiful style, and although I love your ethos of using what you already have in your wardrobe I think I might have to buy one of those Cashmere scarves! 😍
