Good morning. Thanks for the info. I could not find a way that I liked to wear my rectangle scarf. Now I do. Tried it and it’s fantastic, especially here in Montréal where as you know it is cold for so many months. Thank you 🙏

I’ve recently fallen in love with the super skinny scarf. They are wonderful way to add a pop of colour if I am wearing all black or another all solid colour from head to toe. At first I wondered if I look like an airline steward, but it’s such a cute look I can’t pass it up.

My friend gifted me a really lovely silk scarf from France and I struggle with how to wear it. I feel like it's much smaller than the silk scarf you were working with and I was hoping to be able to do the "western" type tie with it, but I find it too short/small for that. I'll try the neck tie and see if I like that on myself. I have a neutral sand colored hand bag that I was thinking of tying it onto... but I feel like the scarf is too large for that purpose lol. I just want to be able to wear this lovely gift! ha ha.

Hi and Happy Sunday!!! I wore for a casual dinner at friend’s home: A black long sleeved Turtleneck with a plaid short shirt. Then, I tied a cashmere long scarf with fringe onto one shoulder on then in front of body at alternate waist. It was charming❤️

Thank you for this one! I discovered silk scarves only a few years ago and have racked up a collection now! What scarf tie styles look best depend on the colors and patterns in the fabric as well as what's flattering on you (sadly, I don't look good with them tied close to my neck, but there are plenty of other options!). There are lots of Hermes demos which work great with any silk scarves...I made a note of the tie styles I liked the best and narrowed the choices down to what looks good on me. Now, when I get a new scarf, I experiment with different ties, take pics of the ones I like with that scarf.

    • @AlyssaBeltempo
      @AlyssaBeltempo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

that is such a great idea to take pictures and learn a new way to tie depending on the scarf. I will have to check out the Hermes tutorials they sound great. Thank you for sharing and watching! xx

  • @TheMichelleCopley

Well done! I would add : turn the blanket scarf around, bring the crossed tails forward in a drapey state, let the side fabric drape down to your elbow, play around with the tails bringing them up underneath the drapey fabric and tuck them into the neck area or you could pin them too depending on the weave of your scarf, the bulkier the fabric, the better the tuck. I wear this either on its own over just about anything or over a jacket, looks great over a Moto jacket and provides extra warm and color too. It gives the impression of a mini cape type of look. Scarves are so fun and functional, love!

Hey Alyssa! Love your videos! Can you do one on dressing well for very cold temperatures? As a fellow Canadian, I could really use the tips ;) I noticed you wearing an overcoat in your no-black challenge video and while I love my overcoat as well, I can't get away with it in Toronto anymore. I have to wear a fluffy parka that is neither chic nor flattering. Please help!

    • @AlyssaBeltempo

Hey there!! Hmmm so some thoughts on cold weather dressing here - esp the end might interest you - th-cam.com/video/Zzwkphl1c6M/w-d-xo.html .. my favourite parkas that are both warm and chic are Mooseknuckle and Nicole Benisti both Canadian companies ... They are $$$$ but honestly worth it if you look at cost per wear because you own them for at least a decade ... Good suggestion for touching on cold weather dressing underneath outerwear! Thank you for watching and stay warm! xo

Yes scarves are an essential style element for me. I have the bulk of my mother’s silk scarves, in addition to my personal collection of cashmere, wool, pashmina, silk, silk jersey, cotton scarves. In the winter I always add a scarf to my outfit. In warmer weather I tie one on the handle of my purse.
I tie the two ends of the shorter side of a large rectangular scarf together, than repeat at the other end, then I drape the long side of the scarf over my shoulders and I put and arms through the holes of the tied ends. Now I have a loose cardigan wrap. Useful when I travel. Very versatile. I tie the scarf on my purse, so I don’t have to carry a cardigan.

Hi Alyssa! Thank you for this video! it was exactly what I was hoping when I suggested this topic. ❤ Absolutely not too obvious tips, but actually useful in everyday outfits. Never before I have liked that kind of choker scarf style, but you managed to make it look really good and not too planned or posh. So maybe I need to give it a try, maybe as a kind of fake turtleneck now in winter time. And I really liked that your tips were (also) for cold atmosphere, and you took it seriously that in real life, winter coats need to be used closed so you don't freeze. 😄

You can actually wear them a bunch of ways, depending on the fabric and the size. Many of them work well "scrunched" into a long narrow strip and worn in that "European" or pull-through-the-loop style. Big infinity scarves can be worn as ponchos or wraps.

Loved the numerous -best- ways to wear scarves. Would love to see video on care (washing, ironing, steaming, sewing unraveled edges or weaving pulled bit of blanket scarf...best storage methods to prevent wrinkling). Many of the scarves can be expensive. Other than dry cleaning - which I often dont trust ( I worked in a dryclepaning store/ mgf in my teens). Finally to remove the tags or not. If not hoe to wear to hide. Thanks.

I need my big blanket scarf these days, though ( Can you spell Toronto?) ;) I have a very wide, "reversible" infinity scarf (one half pattern and the other solid) that I have found at least five different ways to wear. I get my money's worth out of my things, haha. I will look forward to your video on Sunday. Thanks, Alyssa!

I loved the silk scarf demo. I’ve inherited a few silk scarves which I thought looked a bit old fashioned. But thanks to your tips they look really attractive on and are a fun way to play with colours to enhance an outfit. As for the blanket scarves I just don’t like them all bunched up. I know it’s fashionable but it’s just not me. Thanks for the demos I really enjoyed them.

Running up to grab my Hermes silk scarf I purchased in Paris so many years ago. I have not seen this way to style a scarf and I have seen a lot. I can't imagine why...it is simple and elegant. The scarf tying tutorials made a similar look so complicated to style...this is EASY! Love the shawl scarf section where you pulled that bit through before tying it. It was that little move that I have not seen...or missed in numerous other tutorials....including Eileen Fisher's fab tutorials. I have a large scarf collection, so will be eager to try these out. After decades of teaching....one of the big gifts parents/children gave to teachers were scarves. Most are gorgeous and I have kept...they include a wide range of sizes, fabrics, shapes, and colors....some made by the students themselves. So this was fun!

Make the scarf into a rectangular shape then drape around the neck so that it falls down the chest with two even sides. Take A belt and wrap around your waist and over the top of the scarf to cinch it together. With A larger scarf, it almost has like a belted cardigan effect.

I've been wearing scarves all my life. I feel they bring elegance and femininity to an outfit and I prefer them over necklaces. But I only have one large scarf for the cold, snowy mountains for I'm not keen on too much fabric. Yet you showed me more ways to wear them. I look forward to your videos on Sundays!

I think a couple of these are just too bulky to be flattering. But love several of them. The blanket scarf just is overkill to me. This came across very negatively but overall, it was a great video.

I am new here so I'm going through the archives a bit. I think your take on scarves was well worth watching. Not so many looks as to confuse but enough so most people could find at least a couple to wear. I like the organized messiness of many of the styles.

Thanks for tip on blanket scarves. I tie my silk scarf the Hermes way, like the cowboy but the knot is on the outside. For rectangular, fold in half put around neck, put one end through the loop then twist the loop before putting other end through. ( figure of 8).

Ciao Alyssa, your hair has me at #hairgoals. It suits you perfectly. Can you tell me how short your shortest layer is? And do you have layers cut throughout, including the back, or mostly around the front/face?

Hi there! Thank you so much, honestly my stylist is AMAZING I can't take any credit. She's in Ottawa at Rinaldos 90 George if you ever visit. My shortest layers are about at my chin and they're all throughout - front and back ... my stylist calls it a long shaggy type haircut ... I hope this helps! :)
