- The 2024 Mini Cooper brings back the classic Mini driving experience with its new 6-speed manual transmission. Join me as I review the handling, acceleration, clutch feel, and overall fun factor of rowing your own gears in the latest Mini Cooper. This throwback model pays homage to the original 1960s Mini with go- kart like handling and a perfectly tuned manual gearbox. See how the short throw shifter provides crisp, precise shifts and blissful engine braking downshifts. I take the Mini through winding backroads and talk MPG, torque, cargo room, and other practical considerations. If you want one of the last pure driving experiences available today, the 2024 Mini Cooper manual is a must see. This in-depth review covers all you need to know before buying one of the last manual hatchbacks. Check out the video to see if the old school 6-speed Mini paints a smile on my face!

Owned a’13 Cooper S for a number of years. Great car. Quick, nimble and great mpg. Happy to see they’re still offering a manual! #rayconeveryday ear buds
I think they've got more manuals than ever for 2024!
Excellent review of the Cooper ! I’m stoked (sp) up too!
Thanks!
I've never considered a Mini, now Brian has me thinking, hmmm. Nice review sir!
Glad I could help!
Thanks for the review. Picking up a manual jcw countryman tomorrow.
Great choice! Enjoy!
Love this review....my twin girls are itching to get one
Thanks, Vito!
We love our 2021 MCSC 6MT in chili 🌶 . We get 30 MPG and it's the most fun we've had behind the wheel. Great review, especially your point about shifting accidentally into reverse when at a complete stop.
Good stuff. Fun car!
Nice review bro, I personally own the electric version of this car and it is fun to drive and I agree it is pretty much a two person car, that is the reason I did a rear seat delete.
Interesting. In which market can you do a rear seat delete?
@@BrianMakse none. I bought a kit from the UK and have the parts sent to California.
I just ordered the S in green. Supposedly, the last year they are having the manual Transmation.
Enjoy! For some markets, it may be the last.
How are the gear throws are they short or long, how's the notchy feel?
Medium length and light throws.
I’m curious does the Mini have a proper handbrake or is it electric? Some of us like to be able to rotate the car for fun in snowy conditions 😊
Handbrake!
@@BrianMakse I like it more already!
Brian, which is more fun... this or civic hatch sport w/manual?
Great question. Depends on what you mean by fun. If you want to win drag races, I think the Civic has a better power to weight ratio (with the 1.5T). If you like stability in the corners, the Civic has that due to it's longer wheelbase. But if you like something that's changes direction quickly and has the responsiveness of a go kart, the Mini is your choice. I'd also argue the Mini feels better screwed together.
Thanks Brian, considering the other cars it will join, the Mini will be my choice... truly value you opinion and appreciate the response.@@BrianMakse
It's a good car, but for just a couple thousand more you can get the S version, with a significantly more powerful engine.
I’ve always loved minis, but never went for it because of the reliability. 😕 I wonder if that is better now.
maintain it & just know what to watch out for, the new ones won't give you any more problems than the average euro car
The F56 is supposed to be much much much better than the older cars.
I love the concept of this car but the numbers are disturbing. 1.5 liters and 135 hp? Not even 5000 rpm redline? 2700 lbs???? I get it that this is a "premium" car but howso? Macpherson struts aren't premium. The materials can't be premium if it's heavier than so many larger cars. I just think the car is a terrible underachiever for what it should be at this price. I hope the next gen, which looks fantastic in the pictures, turns out to be more competitive.
We definitely need to talk about this. The redline isn’t 5000rpm and it has all the torque delivered in the right way to be fun. McPherson struts are irrelevant, but careful tuning of the suspension calibrations count. Better nvh is clearly premium. I’ll wait for you to show me a more fun to drive manual hatchback that weighs less than 2700lb.
Faaaarrr Too much BS about Raycon
Thanks for your support!
WTF? I pay youtube a premium to not see commercials. And then your put commercials in your posts?
You must be new around here.
