    We love your knitting, designs, projects and we love YOU! Yes, we know you are a real person and we like to know about your real life. Don't be shy to tell us what's on your mind. And your health and your family is first, absolutely! If you can't do a regular podcast, you could always make a 5 min one with a baby on your lap just to give us an update. XO

    Yes, take care of yourself Laerke, sounds very wise to leave the next months open without much plans/pressure....its so exciting, you will be seeing the little baby soon!! January is not that far away!

    I think you have such a wise outlook on your early days as a mother to a newborn! Good for you! Neither of my two were good sleepers until they were 18 months or so. Oh my! What torture! Lol. And I remember friends telling me how good their babies slept at night. I’ve never had that experience!

    As much as I enjoy listening please take care of yourself . Yes the online knitting community is amazing . As a non podcaster I still feel part of a beautiful supportive group . Lette Lopi makes the warmest jumpers I own and they bloom so magically too 😊! But definitely to wear over something.
    Best wishes to you .

    Love your podcast. I am a new knitter and find your podcast enjoyable and informative. Since I learned to crochet first many years ago I find holding my yarn in my left hand more comfortable. I do not know if I will ever knit a sweater but I love seeing all the patterns. Thank you so much.

    The fox 🦊 pattern is so sweet.
    Keep yourself and your baby healthy.
    That little square you knitted as a child is called a ‘pot holder’ or if sewn into a pocket it is an ‘oven mitt’.
    Congratulations on the 5K subscribers. I look forward to your videos and enjoy the lovely clips of your environment and landscapes.

    Thank you Laerke for such and enjoyable podcast. I love seeing what you are working on. Fine Fish yarns is my local yarn that Terri dyes here in Belfast Northern Ireland. I've used it many times and loved it. As others have said please take care of yourself. Even though my daughter is now thirty I still remember the frustration of trying to slow down and rest. I was soundly told off for arriving at a midwife appointment with paint specs on my fingers from painting the nursery. It was even harder trying to rest with an active toddler when I was expecting my son but it's for a season and it passes. Enjoy rest knitting xx

    Just love the jersey you are knitting for your daughter! This is the time to be selfish and start taking care of yourself. Interesting what you mentioned about Ireland and that their wool is not so available to craft knitters. We have a huge sheep farming community in South Africa, mostly Merino and from what i can gather most of the "greasy raw wool" gets exported, also not so readily available to the knitter crafters. I find smaller wool farmers though, sell their wool mostly to local buyers, as it seems there is just one place we can buy wool to spin and dye of the locally grown sheep, which is rather sad. I learned to knit at home and then school. but our school curriculum does not have knitting or sewing included at all anymore, which is also rather sad. Anyway, we do what we can to get our hands on good, local yarn and I am a textile printer and dyer (natural dyes) so for me to start dyeing my own yarn will be easy, I now just have to learn how to spin it hahaha

    So nice you talked about your dutch grandmother (Oma). I am dutch and my mother taught me to knit with the right needle under my arm. My parents grew up in Holland about the same time as your Oma did. Thank you for sharing a bit of your history.:)

    • @FiberTales
      @FiberTales  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh so you knit that way? I was never taught but it looked so interesting. It was a tough time but i always enjoyed hearing about all her adventures as a child and later going underground. And she always called me Liefje ❤️

    • @adrianalipski8042
      @adrianalipski8042 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still knit like that. To me it seems much faster. Here in the states you very rarely see an “underarm knitter”.:). My parents have told the stories of that time too.

    • @FiberTales
      @FiberTales  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you do when you knit in the rnd?

    • @adrianalipski8042
      @adrianalipski8042 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will knit with circulars or use double points. It seems a little slower for me at first. By the way I loved the star you were knitting to hang in your window. I want to try making a few of them. It is so pretty!

    • @marty9011
      @marty9011 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I knit with the right needle under my arm !! I think I knit a bit faster that way. I admit that using circular needles is very slow for me as I miss the underarm position.

    I love your fox cardigan, it is so sweet! I saw that on instagram also and really want to make one at some point.
    I prefer plötulopi over Léttlopi, I think it lasts longer, I like the colours more and it does not dry out my hands like Léttlopi.
    Steeking is not as hard as some people think, especially with sticky wool like Lopi. Good luck!
    Take care off yourself and that baby and try to rest when you can. And yes, I count knitting as resting! ;)

    • @FiberTales

    About the sockyarn; I don't think you are supposed to knit two socks at the time. You could either start from the outside and knit one, wind the rest up until you find the other starting point and knit number 2 or start from the inside and knit one after the other. But of you start 2 socks from opposite direction (inside and outside of the bal) the yarn colour sequence wil be in a mirrored order I think ..

    • @FiberTales
      @FiberTales  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea i kinda figured that but got confused by the pink yarn attatched at both ends. Oh well i really dont mind 😅🤗

    • @cathystarch8916
      @cathystarch8916 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like to knit socks two at a time so will weigh the yarn and wind into two balls of the same size. This way it works as if I'm pulling both from the outside and stripes are more consistent.

    Halloooo,
    now I don't know how to write your name. I only can say your english is so wonderful and fast, for me it's the second language too. And my enlish is not so good like yours.
    Love your podcast so much because it's a special kind of art I think!
    I want to told you a crazy story about my family in less words: I have two children: one boy, he is 25 and one daughter, she is 18. In 2009 my husband leaved this family and so since than it was my challenge to by there on there sides alone. I also thought that time and experiences are harder than I know from others. Now, the most craziest thing I have reached in last September was a so wonderful journey, a cruise for 3 weeks from Hamburg to Greenland and back. My daughter said to me, it's time to give something back for so hard times I have had with her, with them. It was the craziest and most wonderful time I have ever had in my life ... So, I wish you that you ever have all the power and joy you will need for all the neccesary things to do and you will get so much back. Good luck for you and your family
    Angelika
