I liked ms, cupid in love and liked but... It could have been better. Hello my sharpshooter was so bad.. I wanted to watch it cus I love the actors and I've seen them done better but it was so disappointing
@@yeonjunhour3733 I agree with you with the Hello My Sharpshooter one, I was anticipating this drama the moment the released the casting and such but the moment it aired and I finally get to watch it, I dropped it. I tried going back to watch it from time to time but i just can’t get myself to finish it. Maybe I’ll pick it up one day.
You're so right about actors' historical hairstyles/wigs that can REALLY change how they look. I'm new to drama watching, but Cao Yuchen proved it to me. I thought in The Untamed he was kind of handsome but something was strange about his look. When I then saw him in his normal, modern style I was SHOCKED at how handsome he really was! Some of these stylists really need to customize the historical hair based on the actor's features -- often just adjusting where the hairline sits will have huge impact. (I now want you to use your extensive knowledge to do a video on who you think got the worst "historical wig" treatment in dramas. I know there have been some bad ones, but sometimes it's like they try to make someone look bad on purpose!)
That is true but that style Cao Yuchen was in made him look stuck up and awkward, which Jin Zi Xuan was stuck up and awkward in TU. I know where you are coming from though..lol.
>sometimes it's like they try to make someone look bad on purpose!< I totally agree! I have even looked up wig styles from Chinese opera, I looked up wig shapes , and Chinese geomancy to see if those things had an effect on the choices made. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah when i watched Cao Yuchen without the wig I was omgggg he is sooo cute/handsome. He does have a very doll face but in this drama the wig looks better than in TU
Same with Wang Zhuocheng. He's handsome but I can't watch his scenes in the Untamed without busting out of laughter from that hairline. I hate it so much 😭
Right? They never really change Tao's look enough to differentiate between him as an idol or a character! You hit it on the head! It's just Tao doing things in a Tao-like manner. 🤣
After 1 episode , it was hair I decided its not for me.. I simply did not understand why you would style a 30 something law firm partner a mullet with shaved side hair 🥴🥴
I'm interested. The personality of any actor determines his features of the game, the features of the characters. Look at any famous actor in any country. You can say about everyone that they do it in their own way)))) I have heard reviews about Zi Tao's hairstyle more than once. I can't understand such comments. It is difficult for a foreign viewer to understand the claims to the hairstyle. Films can be made in different styles, with different approaches. This art is an opportunity to look at life differently. It often happens that you do not like an actor or director. This is also normal. We are all different. I was introduced to the dramas and music of China after hearing and falling in love with Huang Zitao's songs. Now I'm watching "Legally romance". I think he has good acting skills. He knows how to immerse the viewer in feelings, convey them through the screen. There are scenes in the drama where he appears as a powerful dramatic actor. Take a look at episode 23, episode 24. I can trust myself as a lover of Russian theater and cinema.
I think Huang Zitao plays differently. I can not agree that his acting is the same. His playing in "Legally romance" is at a very high level. He is already a professional actor. The fact that he is so natural in the role shows that the director and producer made the right choice of actor for the lead role. It also pairs incredibly well with Song Zuer.
I live in UK and have taken to watching historical Chinese dramas in the last year or so. I agree with you on the historical ones, particularly Mirror Cities. Got about half way through. I have learnt so much about Chinese history as each drama set me off to search for true history. I have also taught my self a little Chinese so sometimes I understand odd bits even without subs.
I dropped all cdramas I started watching, sometimes even very early on like by the third or fourth episode, either because they were boring or because I couldn't deal with the tropes anymore. And I don't even feel bad about dropping them because at this point I'm like if you fail to keep me interested then I'm not watching it
@@naleenidas8444 Yes! I see so many people saying they didn't enjoy some drama but they still managed to watch a lot of episodes... Like why do you do that to yourself?? If you don't like it, drop it, you're really not missing out on much if you don't watch it
Soo agree with Twin Mirror, oh Gosh, really look for the new drama from Li Yi Feng after a long absence, too bad, I know how frustrating it is to try to force ourselves to watch the drama because of the actors, but.... okay, it's not worth spending our valuable time for, thanks for the review, we are the same person, all the drama's you mentioned is also the black list on my watch hahaha
I was so happy to get up this morning and see a rant video and in period costume too! Best way to start the day. Also, I was extremely relieved that Autumn Ballad did not make the list (it has plenty of faults but I still love it so hard).
I love this sort of video of yours. I gave up on hello sharp shooter after just 5 min into ep 1. It’s simply too ridiculous. I was excited to watch our sweet secret but ended up giving it up after ep 2 coz i was offended intellectually. The male lead was supposed to be allergic to lactose that he gotta be hospitalized when he ate a candy but in ep 2 he had a glass of milk w/ no problem. I also gave up on lots of other dramas that i was excited about but ended up not watching it til the end like luoyang. It could’ve been better.
My son is allergic to lactose but can drink milk or eat cheese provided he gets his medication for that before... I also was allergic to lactose as a child and nearly diedof toxic shock from it, according to my mother who did'nt know at the time that cow's milk is not good for babies ; my intolerance gradually shifted to accepting over the years even though I don't like to drink a glass of milk, just tolerate cream on cakes or in coffee. I am strongly allergic to other things which I became aware of as an adult and have not managed to be desensitized to. So even then (the detail you brought up eluded me), I would not just stop watching because of perceived lack of consistency there. I liked the Sharpshooter story (together with its OST, esp. the opening song), which I watched while reading Billy Summers, which is perhaps the best novel written by Stephen King. I focused not on the romance, but on the serious concerns that were tackled in this drama and the growing and healing of the victims (Shen Qingyuan, Tang Xin Shi XiaoCI, even less direly so Chen Hai and Zhou Zuguang and Ding Fang): PTSD, OCD, Aspergers (although this syndrome was not explicitly mentioned) and coping mechanisms against violence or betrayal, such as the hyperactive smiling of the character played by Xing Fei. I have encountered people with these types of problems, and in Billy Summers, chanting is also used to relieve pain, just as the rapping idea that allows the livestreamer to temporarily overcome her nervous stuttering caused by the traumas that are revealed later on. I don't think the drama was a masterpiece, but is was more than tolerable as far as I am concerned, and conveyed some emerging ideas that some behavior that is commonly seen as "romantic" in dramas (seizing a female to kiss her forcibly, unwanted touching...) is in fact questionable. -- As for your other comment, I also ended up somewhat disappointed by Luoyang, but watched till the end, even if I knew what was coming. Maybe I was growing tired of that story by then. I liked some of the songs.
@@Lileyflor Just letting you know as an Autistic person, don't use the word Asbergers. It isn't something to diagnose anymore under the DSM anymore because it ignores that the people who were diagnosed are just Autistic. That word was used to separate and divide the Autistic community with functioning labels that ignores Autistic people's spiky skill sets. Functioning labels ignores that being Autistic is a spectrum and functioning labels don't exist for Autistic people. Also, Asbergers comes from Hans Asbergers who was a literal Nazi who led to the literal murder of millions of Disabled children. He committed literal eugenics on us. Being Autistic also isn't a syndrome but a Neurotype. It's a part of the Neurodiversity of the world. Being Autistic isn't a disease. All being Autistic means is that you are Neurodivergent.
@@arabellasterwerf7980 You are right to point out that autism is not a disease and that what was accepted by the DSM (manual of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) in 1994 up to 2013 as AS is now viewed as just part of the neurodivergent spectrum; even if many people still adhere to the description and definition. (One young man I hired as a tutor back in 2018 volunteered that he was an Aspie - he did his job just fine and I was puzzled he felt the need to tell me. It did not faze me anyway.). I am convinced that quite a lot of people diagnosed as neurodivergent can function in society like anybody, be parents, teachers, scientists, artists. Maybe some professions are closed to them, just like color blind people cannot become pilots in the army or airlines Sometimes, the peers of some students or colleagues need to be more sympathetic to some instances of their troubles, so raising awareness about neurodiversity and inclusivity is a good thing, beyond just establishing categories. Reading up the Wikipedia page about Hans Asperger (with a P) I'd just state that I don't think there is enough there to accuse that Austrian of having sent cold bloodedly"millions" of disabled kids to be killed or "committing literal eugenics". It does not mesh with the mention of some of his former patients like Elfriede Jelinek who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2004, nor with his being involved in schools throughout his career, or the mention of "since 2009, Asperger's birthday, 18 February, has been declared International Asperger's Day by various governments". Sometimes, things are not easily broken down in Manichean worldview terms. Asperger was a man of his time so of course he followed the mainstream around him, but when the time of assesment came, he was not prosecuted as "evil nazi" after the war, contrary to John Rabe, the nazi who still saved about 250,000 Chinese civilians during the Nanjing Massacre, establishing the Nanking Safety Zone, which earned him respect and help in the form of food packages from China when he became destitute on his return to Germany. Asperger's views about AS were perhaps a fad in psychological "science", but I don't believe he was treating his young patients and agreed to have them be killed by injecting, clubbing or gassing them to death as you seem to have been led to think. From the Wikipedia page, it is not apparent. There are a lot of writers who drag up stuff to accuse people of hateful sins, sometimes they are correct, sometimes they just amplify rumors for their own publicity. I remain cautious about rushing in to believe allegations and sensationalist writings. Anyway, I have no stake in this one way or the other. So it's just my 2 cents.
@@Lileyflor Maybe not millions, but at least 772-800 Disabled children were killed by him. I couldn't remember the exact amount. He signed them a death warrant basically. Yes he was recently uncovered to be connected to the Nazi Party. He wasn't a part of the Nazi, but he sure had strong connections with them! The man was a monster. Regardless of the people he helped, he still murdered so many people. So yes Autistic people don't want to be associated with a monster who led to many of our deaths. He had negative viewpoints on Disabled people and supported eugenics. This wasn't always known. It's only been recently that we know this when people found evidence of his crimes. Jewish Autistic people are especially uncomfortable with the name because of his clear ties to the Nazi and the deaths of many Disabled children. He had a hand in eugenics. He isn't a product of his time. Not everyone supported the euthanasia of Disabled People. Actually, many Disabled activists even then fought against eugenics during Nazi Germany. So I'm glad that Asbergers isn't diagnosed anymore. He may have helped some people, but he doesn't deserve to be respected by the Autistic community. There are many Autistic people who were diagnosed as "Asbergers" for a long time and still use it because it's a part of their identity. That's fine! It's the Autistic person who gets to choose. But Asbergers is seen now by a majority of Autistic people now as yikes. Especially with how it was used to separate the Autistic community into labels. However, Neurotypical people shouldn't get a say on whether it should be used or not. They honestly shouldn't use it unless the one Autistic person is ok with it because it is their identity. But don't assume everyone is! Because that is simply not the case. The only reason his crimes may not be on the Wiki page is because this was recently uncovered. It didn't used to be known before and that's why he wasn't prosecuted. The mindset that Neurodivergent people can do certain things reads kinda yikes to me. Especially the sympathy part. Yes Neurodivergent people can do many different jobs because we are humans. Some of us do have higher support needs, but they still have value regardless. Like Neurodivergent people do have to struggle due to the fact that the world is designed against us. The world doesn't accommodate or provide enough accessibility. Functioning in this society can be debilitating because of all the ableism and lack of accessibilities. Believe me, I've experienced the ableism as an Autistic/ADHD Disabled woman. I've seen how ableist society is towards Disabled people in general. We aren’t special, but we are humans with different needs. We also tend to be discriminated in the workforce for being Disabled. We don't need sympathy or to be made into someone to pity. We need to be supported and respected. We are humans with full complex lives. Many Neurodivergent people can do many things. Some can't because of their other disabilities and that's ok! They deserve more support and accessibility to live their lives to the fullest. Even if it doesn't look like how Capitalism puts out about being good little workers. Disabled people don't need someone's sympathy to raise more support. Recognize that Disability is really neutral and that everyone eventually will become Disabled from old age or even they get injured later on. It's a part of being human! Disabled people and Neurodivergent people deserve to be recognized as complex humans with different needs. So support shouldn't come from a misplaced savior complex to "save the Disabled" because that is been the basis of eugenics. I mean, even Hans Asbergers believed in that! Instead come from wanting to help other humans and recognize their value as human beings. We aren’t "broken." I agree that Neurodiversity and Neurodivergent people need to be talked about more in general though. I do agree that we need more people fighting for Neurodivergent people's rights to exist. I would just be careful where able-bodied and Neurotypical people are getting their motivation to help and that it doesn't come from ableist viewpoints about us. www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/hans-asperger-actively-assisted-nazi-eugenics-policies-study-claims-180968845/ tidsskriftet.no/en/2019/05/essay/asperger-nazis-and-children-history-birth-diagnosis www.spectrumnews.org/news/new-evidence-ties-hans-asperger-nazi-eugenics-program/
I actually like Legally Romance's novel version (although other novel by this author is more superior imo). It's quite disheartening when I saw the drama image stills. Just like AvenueX said, Zitao's appearance doesn't show he's top class professional lawyer.
@@elenazablotskis1353 Professionals in China tends to go for a much more conservative look. It's not even like he was depicted as an eccentric lawyer. So yes, you like it, but it doesn't fit the role.
@@swhat9203 Lawyers tend to be conservative in every country. But we're watching a drama - a romantic drama with elements of comedy. It's funny that I, as a lawyer, and my friend the prosecutor cannot judge the acceptable appearance of the main male role of a lawyer)))) It surprises me that the hairstyle is the most important.By the way, in the drama they successfully joke about the hairstyle))
still discussing Huang ZiTao's hairstyle?! His general style in Legally romance?! Recently I came across photos of Elon Musk and found a very similar hairstyle and clothing style. Elon Musk is definitely not an idol!!!
I think it's normal. I watched close to 300 now (I know, I keep track on Mydramalist haha) and when you've watched so many you naturally lose patience with subpar productions and writing. Also, it becomes clear just how low the standards of dramas have dropped lately. We're used to better stuff haha
I’ve watched Hello Sharpshooter to the end and I do agree that it’s not a must watch drama. To me, it’s still tolerable. Shining For One Thing, to me it’s not too bad but too slow moving. Plot wise, I find this drama interesting as the script managed to keep the full picture of what actually happened until much later on. A large part of this drama is about unrequited love and missing out, which I think fans of this drama can relate to. I think those who like Out of Dream or Crush would like this drama. I don’t feel anything with the ending although many are feeling emotional about it. Legally Romance does have a good storyline and actually surprised me with how the plots developed. Within the logic of the drama, the explanation on the time travel part of the drama is acceptable to me. Song Zuer is clearly the star of the drama and did well in her role. Agree with the comment on Tao’s acting but it doesn’t affect the drama much as Song Zuer’s character is the key to the plots. It’s really not a bad drama and I do find it enjoyable.
The fact that this video means that the first quarter of 2022 is over already is absolutely unreal and disturbing 👁️👄👁️. The last three months just went by SO fast
I did not know Tao has only 1 acting style but it seems acceptable. The main actress is ok and is from the recent drama The Bond. The script is ok so I am enjoying Legally Romance.
It's the first time I watched him acting too but his acting skill was acceptable other than his hairstyle. I somewhat agreed that a partner lawyer in an elite law firm shouldn't looked like that but again maybe I am old fashioned..... lol
Thx for the recommendation I loved another Thai movie as well I fine... thank you love you and Thai series Boy for Rent ⭐⭐⭐⭐ the eye candy was next level😍 Mond is a beautiful man.
Someday or one day is getting a Korean remake with Ahn Hyo Seop as male lead who is popular for his work in many dramas such as Abyss and Business Proposal…
I feel chinese dramas could be something so fresh and interesting with a lot of nuanced unique things to say but no... 90% of it is just trash. I know why, the whole industry thing, the censorship, the money-making but thats the problem everywhere and its so sad :/
I remembered asking you to review Mirror Twin Cities previously, because I was eager to hear your review on this drama which was one of those highly-anticipated period drama of 2022. However after so many videos, you didn't review on it...but now, I know why, LOL. I went to watch a few episodes, since you didn't review it back then, and hearing your review now, I agree with your points. Jiang Guangtao, I know he is a very famous voice actor who had dubbed so many famous roles in dramaland & also donghua. I have always loved his voice, those line delivery & emotions- Perfect. And, I think his voice/dubbing in MTC is not an issue.
Yet to watch the video but just had to say you look so so pretty. Waiting for you to drop a hair/hanfu tutorial 💜💜😍 Also, you didn't do this type of video in 2021, I was looking out for it. Hope you drop that one too, AvenueX being critical of dramas is my jam 😍💃🏽
Oath Of Love is living mainly on the usual tropes. The main problem for me are too many hospital scenes which most people are already very familiar with bec of the 3 year pandemic. I am watching it since the acting is ok.
I gave up after 12 episodes of Oath of Love. The dreadful script wastes the talents of the cast. And most of the female roles are so insulting to women, especially Yang Zi as a naive, brainless klutz. I cannot believe she and Xiao Zhan signed on for this mess.
@@maryannrondinella5680 Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi acting is great in The Oath of love it a good Romance story, it not a mess it's a good story more to true life. I love the drama I give it more then 10 stars you gave up to early. Thats how I feel about the drama and a lot of people feel same they like the drama. It wasn't your cup of tea, we all have our likes or not to like a drama. It gets better and better more you get in to The Oath of love. One thing we have so many chooses to watch Chinese dramas and movies, so many wonderful actors and actresses.
I’ve only watched “Under The Skin” on this list and I absolutely loved it 😍 I saw some clips of the other dramas and they looked so boring and cliché to me. I hope there will be season 2 of Under The Skin 🤲🏻
@@fatisummer9106 I am only 1 year old fan of asian dramas, I barely finished 10 chinese dramas till now, most of them are xianxia..i like this type of drama 😂...so I started to watch it... Thankfully It cured my insomnia temporarily 😂🤣
Twin city is so boring. I painfully watch the first 10 episodes and gave up the acting is bland . I enjoyed YUKEE Chen in Ashes of Love but she failed to impress me as a viewer in twin cities. Every main leads acting were bland
You saved me from *probably* wasting my time on unworthy drama’s😂 i I don’t know if you have already seen it but i would love to see you do a review on Ice Fantasy. It’s definitely not the best drama in terms of CGI and special effects but it was the forst Cdrama that I ever watched and the one who got me hooked for cdrama’s✨ I really loved the scenery, costumes and the characters, and how they completely turned “traditional” gender roles around with the women being the badass warriors and the men clueless dorks😂 This drama is probably the least traditional (in a good way) compared to the other drama’s I have watched and the focus is way more on family rather than romance.
Oh my god! I'm not alone then! I just couldn't carry on with Novoland & Fu Yao! That actress is over-exposed with all these fantasy dramas. The other is Here to Heart - Chinese Mills & Boon, I say! Just plain meandering that I couldn't fathom why they even made it!
Ive watched mirror twin cities at 5th times around and im not regret it...i really really like the drama and for me its the best drama ever...luv li yifeng and yukee chen..😍😍😍
#1 boring drama for me was Sword Snow Stride. I “watched” the entire thing with my husband, who BTW really enjoyed it. About 15 min into every episode I would fall asleep. So, I slept through most of this one. But now I have my husband watching Joy of Life with me (my second go round) and I’m wide awake from start to finish of each episode.
Not gonna lie that drama was honestly boringggg and I watched all of it just cuz I liked the ML acting and the story was slow and predictable enough but I some how managed to the whole thing
Mirror Twin city, holy moly. I watched the first episode and thought it was interesting. I thought, ok, merman who is cute and mermaids with the blue in their hair was so pretty. and i love the male lead. But it was sooo boring, that i actually just watched the first two episodes for the set up and then the last episode for the resolution. and i felt like i had accomplished the mission and didn't go back to watch anything in the middle. And i am always glad when you agree with me because it feels like validation of my tolerance level. hehe. And i felt the same way about Ms Cupid. I only made it through 2 episodes. I did like the scenes of the couples who were getting divorced or were agreeing not to date of whatever. But that really isn't enough to justify the rest of the drama. Oh i loved Reset sooo much. I was so touched by the heart scenes, the asthmatic, the father who gives her the female hygiene products, the father who went to prison. They just were each so fascinating and when you started to actually care about the driver and his wife... It was so good.
@@dramaQuiin maybe that was it. It felt like it was a couple of episodes short somehow. I enjoyed the series though. Mainly because there were no scheming, bitchy women.
New subscriber here going through old uploads. I am guilty of watching Hello Sharpshooter repeatedly. ML is kind of a red flag & there are things that do not make sense but I still watched. Prob because I lack knowledge in the sports. ML is like a block of wood too. I enjoyed Under the Skin. Looking forward to season 2.
*Mirror Twin City I dropped. The energy was too one note for me. It became painful to watch. *Oath Of Love I dropped. Tooooo sickly sweet for me. I actually switched to the psychologist instead, which needs to be taken piecemeal, haha. And what is with that ending? *Hello Sharpshooter dropped. Development too slow and shallow. *Legally Romance watched. Z. Tao has a John Wayne vibe if u get my meaning in line with your point. It was an easy watch for me, but not rewatch.
Yes we are all different. I liked Ms. Cupid in Love and Legally Romance just for some lighter drama without a lot of problems. And I loved Hello the Sharpshooter and it's one of my favorites. There are things that may not make much sense at first but those things become clear later in the story. Almost didn't watch because of some bad reviews but glad I didn't listen to them. But if it's not your cup of tea it just means we have different tastes. My daughter likes historical dramas and I hate them because of all the palace intrigue and fighting and death, etc. I'm Into modern rom-coms. Luckily c-dramas offer something for everyone. 😊
My third xian xia drama was ancient love poetry and i really love it....the songs, aesthetic set, their actings and all that magical looking CGI. Everything worked out well for me but after seeing your review i was quite disappointed at first. Then, after knowing about all that genre of dramas i can understand how you feel....but still that drama is the best for me 😁
I love reset so much!! I enjoyed it from start to end..just an amazing drama… All your dislike dramas are all the drama that I didn’t dare to watch coz I knew that I will not like it or its not for me… :) Reset is the only drama that I finished this year but i am linking the autumn ballad and maybe I can finish it…
I really wanted to watch sharpshooter because I like both leads but I just couldn't bare with it. I actually attempted almost a dozen times to pick it up and finally dropped it last week.
Right when Mirror twin cities announced their official casts and saw Li Yifeng in it, I immediately knew it's going to be another bad one since I have watched quite a few of his previous works and this dude just can't act for god's sake... The only one drama that I thought he acted ok was only in Noble Aspirations
Isn't it the trend for Chinese drama land these last years. Most of the drama I have checked out were romance focus. I think a drama or movie can still be very good and leave you long lasting impression even with little or no romance in it or the romance is being properly balanced with other elements in the plot. It is just my opinion.
I’m saddened, I liked Chen Yuqi but she hasn’t done anything unique in her own acting even as Zhao Min. She has potentials, her look is unique and she was very impressionable in ashes of love. I hope to see her do something good in the future. I have hope!
I agree with how bad Xiao Yu Liang’s hairstyle looks in Ms. Cupid in Love. The hairstyle with the short bangs looks so much better, but it was only for a short period. Like why? Bc, he's 2nd lead? Sometimes it seems like they purposely make the 2nd leads look worst so they don't outshine the main leads. I am not trying to disrespect the main leads either. Unfortunately, that drama was pretty dull. Ultimate Note 2, when?!
Sometimes I think that we as viewers deserve a reward for the patience we invest and stay until the end of some dramas. For example, I endured till the end "Shining for one thing" ..., Oh God, how much I didn't like FL, everything else was great, but I couldn't digest her. P.S. The only disagreement I have with you concerns “Legally Romance,” I enjoy every second. 🤗
yeah, Legally romance was a nice surprise, wasn't expecting much but it's surprisingly enjoyable. And the leads have a cute kind of chemistry together.
This is the best reviews! You’re right on every of them… what happen to the Chinese dramas lately? I can’t keep going with those and went back to watch The Imperial Coroner and still worth waiting again!
I started watching the Imperial Coroner after your recommendation, even though medical/crime type shows aren't really for me, and I'm loving it so far!
Thank you you are spot on re Mirror twin city , sharp shooter- I watched 3 eps & didn't want to waste anymore time although I like the ML &FL in sharp shooter. I have enjoyed other dramas with Li Yifeng & Zheng YC but mirror city was boring!
I agree there is nothing currently worth watching in the Chinese drama world. It has been so frustrating and a waste of time even looking for something.
I agree with you most 100%. Maybe we have same tastes and perspectives. But I think it's all about age too. Teenagers are certainly happy with light dramas even though the drama are sleeping pills, and very, very boring for us... In conclusion, every drama has a market segment..., so be wisely when we choose
Under the skin- yes it's really really good & worth watching every episode I actually liked hello the sharpshooter also though it 100% doesn't make sense from the angle u had mentioned
Just a recommendation! Really hope AvenueX can watch a Korean drama named Business Proposal 😅 Though I know you only watch Chinese ones but this one has been great for me and the story is very much lighthearted and comical! Great for de-stress! Important thing is both main couple and side couple have good story plots and all of them uses their own voice so no worries on that!
I also like Qu Chu Xiao acting..watching him since Bloody Romance and his Chang An' s persona really really makes me melt down. Still regret that he was not in Long Ballads ( he should become great Ashina Sun..sorry Wu Lei) because his problematic private life.. I miss his acting in historical drama..
I love Wu Lei's Ashina Sun. But i still wonder what could it be if QCX take the role. The age difference between WL and DD in real life affect me in feeling their chemistry. I also love QCX's acting. I think he is really talented and his character in Bloody Romance is really cool and hot at the same time 🤪
Thank you. I'm not the only one who thinks Mirror Twin Cities is horrible. the worst Xianxia drama I've watched to date. 😬 Koreans are remaking 'Someday or One Day' with Ahn Hyo Seop (Male Lead from currently airing 'A Business Proposal' and 'Lovers of the Red Sky'). I'll keep an eye on that one. It's gunna be sooooo good
Wait seriously!? Absolutely loved the Taiwanese version of it & the casting of AHS just immediately shoots it to the top of my TBW list. What title does it go by in Korean?
I managed to watch 22 minutes of the 1st episode of Mirror Twin Cities. I do feel sorry for anybody who managed to finish the 1st episode of Mirror Twin Cities. I managed to finish the 1st episode of Hello The Sharpshooter and it did feel like I was on the firing squad. I managed to finish Challenges At Midlife and the bad script full of tropes was maybe due to a bad novel, altho acting was ok. I grew up on bad tropes super long filipino dramas and watched makjang korean dramas in the past, so I have a high tolerance for bad tropes and ridiculous behaviors. Gold Panning I managed to watch only 8 minutes of the 1st episode maybe bec I do not love gold and money. I finished Shining For One Thing but I had to tolerate the weird facial expressions of the main actress and the script of the other time travel drama Legally Romance is much much better. Shining For One Thing started with doing a comedy about a story of a guy falling from a lighthouse to death which I found strange and the comedy was sort of later replaced with ridiculous behaviors. I enjoy Legally Romance bec it has ok acting and has good script, it does not switch back and forth between past and present so it is not confusing. Ms Cupid In Love I managed to watch 12 minutes of the 1st episode.
I just finished Under the Skin recently and I can't express how much I fell for Tan Jian Ci's charms!!! Shen Yi is such a oddball yet so mesmerizing that you would want to know more about this character!
@@hamsalexus6463 Indeed! And I'm quite looking forward to a season 2 which was implied and it also seemed that Shen Yi may have a dangerous side different from his usual personality implied right at the ending of last episode!
@@hamsalexus6463 If you talking about the potential season 2 then I hope they don't ruin the good built-up too but if you haven't finished this current season then don't worry cuz it's great right until the end! Just some loopholes which is fine to me!
THE ROOF TILE HAHAHA I remember seeing clips of it and was like wtf Also yes that hairstyle does Xiao yuliang no justice,,, he clearly is good looking but holy shit what is that terribad hairstyle
Hu Yitian's drama is sooooooooooo bad. I didn't know how you can make a coming of age type drama (which is basically the same thing every time) so freaking bad. When dramas of this genre are bad it's usually because they are just bad and boring...but this...wow. It's like watching paint dry but excruciating to look at...like watching a neon pink wall paint dry...it's beyond boring but it also gives you a painful headache looking at it at the same time. And somehow the leads have negative chemistry and both leads seem to have all trace of personality sucked out of them. I usually like HYT, but even he seems robotic and lifeless in this role.
I disagree. I did not find it boring. My reasons are below in my reply to Spriha upadhyaya. ---Who seems to have withdrawn her comment? So I am going to put my reply in a primary comment.
I also gave up on hello the sharpshooter which is a shame because i wanted to see hu yitian and xing fei. as it is, the plot is too ridiculous and i hate their characterization. sooo many flaws. did you by any chance watch the autumn ballad? i actually gave up on it, but just wanted to know other people's opinion of it, as it looked promising from the first few eps.
I watched only 2 chinese dramas this year and i dropped both in 2nd -5 th episode. that is "hello sharp shooter" and legally romance... I agree with you because i felt the same. Now I am watching "oath of love". It has bit mature storyline compared to most of chinese modern dramas... slow burning romance and acting of actors keep me continoue watching.... Idk whether i will drop or continue future episodes...
All people are different. I didn't like "Oath of love". Neither the acting, nor the plot, nor the production attracted me. I rewinded to other episodes, but even there I was not hooked.
Thank you for video. Crossed a few off my list. I tried watching Ms Cupid in Love. I fell asleep watching second episode then woke next morning on episode 8. I tried rewatching but feel asleep again. I gave up.
I agree with Xiao Yuliang's styling ... Like WHY WOULD STYLE HIM LIKE THAT!!!! IT DOESN'T SUIT HIM !!!! It didn't even bring out the whole Regal Young Master Look that he naturally has
I don't like watching Chinese costume fantasy drama. The characters are fighting and flying with heavy makeup making them look like comic characters. China has rich history about their ancient dynasties that I like to watch in drama series.
I do love Shining For One Thing a lot and I have been repeating the drama twice in a row. Mostly I agree it's due to how good Qu Chuxiao is in there and also how I somehow managed to relate with the theme of regret.

THANK YOUUUU
when a lady dressed in historical inspired clothing rants, one must listen 😂
love the reviews 🤣 always spot on!
Me too
You're so right about actors' historical hairstyles/wigs that can REALLY change how they look.
I agree with u very good insight 👍
I simply did not understand why you would style a 30 something law firm partner a mullet with shaved side hair 🥴🥴
hes a crap actor, and not really a good singer either IMO
Not only him.. there is a few famous names(both male and female actors) that always looks the same and act the same in almost every drama they stared~
And I don't even feel bad about dropping them because at this point I'm like if you fail to keep me interested then I'm not watching it
I agree. It is our time after all that we are investing. So, we are really not obligated to carry on if it is too boring or cringe-worthy 😉😛

I actually like Legally Romance's novel version (although other novel by this author is more superior imo). It's quite disheartening when I saw the drama image stills. Just like AvenueX said, Zitao's appearance doesn't show he's top class professional lawyer.
I am a lawyer. How does the lawyer should look?! I like the appearance of the main character.

Do what everyone else does...WATCH FOREIGN🤣😂. I find a LOT of good TV Series/Movies with different plots from other countries to keep my interest.
I watched hello, the sharpshooter too and to be honest it was not that bad (was tolerable),maybe because I liked the main leads idk

I liked Joy of Life almost more than The Untamed! I'm so looking forward to season 2!
It’s funny because I’m the other way around :)
i love both, joy of life, and sword snow stride.
I loved joy of life so much I couldn’t wait and found an English translation of the novel. So worth it. Such a great story.
I gave up twin mirror cities as well. The story is so bad that I think the producer was deliberate
I enjoyed Mirror, a tale of twin cities but the ending was awful. Like they ran out of time and had to wrap it up quickly.

@@dramaQuiin maybe that was it. It felt like it was a couple of episodes short somehow. I enjoyed the series though. Mainly because there were no scheming, bitchy women.

Prob because I lack knowledge in the sports. ML is like a block of wood too. I enjoyed Under the Skin. Looking forward to season 2.
17:21 Finally Someone said it, I love him so much in Ultimate note as Zhang Qiling and This drama just destroy my imagination🫠🫠
your attire is so pretty! and the overall look! favourite till date 😍❤️
My third xian xia drama was ancient love poetry and i really love it....the songs, aesthetic set, their actings and all that magical looking CGI. Everything worked out well for me but after seeing your review i was quite disappointed at first. Then, after knowing about all that genre of dramas i can understand how you feel....but still that drama is the best for me 😁
I really really love Reset and Under The Skin :)
Thankfully, your videos allow me to avoid lots of stupid series.
No offense to her, but mirror twin cities is really good, like i would really recommend it to people!
I agree with the sharpshooter drama...I watched till 2nd ep and I was like ...wtf?
Someone please help me find Gold Panning. TH-cam only shows me ep 1 & 2
Thank you.
I really like your style today💗.
I love reset so much!! I enjoyed it from start to end..just an amazing drama…
All your dislike dramas are all the drama that I didn’t dare to watch coz I knew that I will not like it or its not for me… :)
Reset is the only drama that I finished this year but i am linking the autumn ballad and maybe I can finish it…
I really wanted to watch sharpshooter because I like both leads but I just couldn't bare with it. I actually attempted almost a dozen times to pick it up and finally dropped it last week.
Oh no, our Thursday video!!
Ultimate Note 2, when?!
great review thank you
Do you a link to the video you made about zitao please?
Just goes to show its really a matter of preferences.
I really enjoyed challenges at midlife a lot.
And the leads have a cute kind of chemistry together.
like "Legally romance" very much!
This is the best reviews! You’re right on every of them… what happen to the Chinese dramas lately? I can’t keep going with those and went back to watch The Imperial Coroner and still worth waiting again!
Can u do oath of love? I have some friends that really like it, but I don’t like it at all. Or is it just me?
I started watching the Imperial Coroner after your recommendation, even though medical/crime type shows aren't really for me, and I'm loving it so far!
The comedy is gold 😂😂
TIC squad is literally squad goals. Hope you end up liking it as much as I did.
Can u talk abt Oath of live it is soooo good 😍😍😍
She has not talk about XZ s tv dramas since 227. I think she fears backlash or losing her fans.
Hurry!!! AvenueX rant of 2022.
I'm glad to know what Series to avoid. I would love to know your BEST RECOMMENDATIONS on Series to Watch. Maybe a Top 10 or 15 list.
Thank you you are spot on re Mirror twin city , sharp shooter- I watched
3 eps & didn't want to waste anymore time although I like the ML &FL in sharp shooter. I have enjoyed other dramas with Li Yifeng & Zheng YC but mirror city was boring!
I agree there is nothing currently worth watching in the Chinese drama world. It has been so frustrating and a waste of time even looking for something.
Under the Skin is really good, solid writing.
I am glad that all i like, did not make it on your list lol!
I agree with you most 100%. Maybe we have same tastes and perspectives. But I think it's all about age too. Teenagers are certainly happy with light dramas even though the drama are sleeping pills, and very, very boring for us... In conclusion, every drama has a market segment..., so be wisely when we choose
Yeah, i think Song Zuer is one of promising actress, hope she will have good script in her next project....
Except I think that she's a bit overacting in this drama series.....
Under the skin- yes it's really really good & worth watching every episode
I actually liked hello the sharpshooter also though it 100% doesn't make sense from the angle u had mentioned
Oh I actually liked Legally Romance. I found it had good/decent gender portrayals.
I think he is really talented and his character in Bloody Romance is really cool and hot at the same time 🤪
Have you watched Modern Dynasty? The one with 张智霖? Would love to hear your thoughts on that!
@@sigrid6741 same title (as of now). It's on MDL website under Ahn Hyo Seop's profile.
Overdressed?!?!?! Dear, you are living your extra life!!! You look stunning!!!
I clicked so fast when I saw video title! 🤣
I gave up Ms. Cupid in Love after watching episode 1!
I just finished Under the Skin recently and I can't express how much I fell for Tan Jian Ci's charms!!! Shen Yi is such a oddball yet so mesmerizing that you would want to know more about this character!
He is such a fluffball...🥰🥰😍😍😍
@@hamsalexus6463 Indeed! And I'm quite looking forward to a season 2 which was implied and it also seemed that Shen Yi may have a dangerous side different from his usual personality implied right at the ending of last episode!
@@minjilover well anything is good.. as long as he is on-screen 😍😍😍😍... 😁😁😁😅 I just hope they don't ruin the good sorry work they built until now..😪
@@hamsalexus6463 hahaha I just hope his BL drama can get released someday! I'm so frustrated at the gov restrictions...
@@hamsalexus6463 If you talking about the potential season 2 then I hope they don't ruin the good built-up too but if you haven't finished this current season then don't worry cuz it's great right until the end! Just some loopholes which is fine to me!
2:21 Xielan????
I do agree with Ms. cupid in love. Some scenes just made me give up believing it will get better. Now I just watch and laugh 😃
Hello......thanks for the video. You look great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
THE ROOF TILE HAHAHA I remember seeing clips of it and was like wtf
Also yes that hairstyle does Xiao yuliang no justice,,, he clearly is good looking but holy shit what is that terribad hairstyle
I enjoyed Legally ROMANCE, Loved the female actress and Zitao looked so natural on screen with no heavy make up....
The same
I also gave up on hello the sharpshooter which is a shame because i wanted to see hu yitian and xing fei. as it is, the plot is too ridiculous and i hate their characterization. sooo many flaws. did you by any chance watch the autumn ballad? i actually gave up on it, but just wanted to know other people's opinion of it, as it looked promising from the first few eps.
I dropped oath of love 🥲
All people are different. I didn't like "Oath of love". Neither the acting, nor the plot, nor the production attracted me. I rewinded to other episodes, but even there I was not hooked.
I really can't bear with Shining for One Thing, even though many people love it. I just don't want to watch any Qu Chu Xiao's drama.
Thank you for video. Crossed a few off my list. I tried watching Ms Cupid in Love. I fell asleep watching second episode then woke next morning on episode 8. I tried rewatching but feel asleep again. I gave up.
haha you sounded so funny....

I agree with Xiao Yuliang's styling ... Like WHY WOULD STYLE HIM LIKE THAT!!!! IT DOESN'T SUIT HIM !!!!
It didn't even bring out the whole Regal Young Master Look that he naturally has
Love your witty negative reviews! You've saved me chunks of my life which I hope to fruitfully spend watching dramas I can enjoy. Thank you.
You look amazing
I don't like watching Chinese costume fantasy drama. The characters are fighting and flying with heavy makeup making them look like comic characters. China has rich history about their ancient dynasties that I like to watch in drama series.
I laughed so hardd also you look super pretty!!
I do love Shining For One Thing a lot and I have been repeating the drama twice in a row. Mostly I agree it's due to how good Qu Chuxiao is in there and also how I somehow managed to relate with the theme of regret.
Me too!
@@titil0la930 I really2 can't wait for the movie and hoping they will give us proper explanation on the ending
