In case you did not know. This guy knows his swimsuits. Credit to Speedo, Arena and the rest for providing support to swimmers financially and physically! I doubt if all swimmers together get as much as a premier football player yet they train several times harder and dive for a reason rather than get a penalty.
After seeing how quickly my last Speedo weared down compared to Arena or Mizuno, I ain't buying no Speedo's no more. My 6 month old Speedo is in way worse state than my 3 year old Arena.
Honestly watching this video just makes me realize it doesn't matter what tech suit you wear. Just wear what you feel good and fast in and it will all work out.
What you feel good in for sure! These swimmers are the top of the game, and the suit is going to have a marginal affect, that’s not to say some swimmer wouldn’t be faster in a better suit!
Hey Sonny, I can understand ladies not liking Mizuno for the huge compression but is sponsorship the main factor in so little mizunos getting to the men’s finals? I personally found the NV is just too hard to get on while the CR is actually really cool in all aspects, but still, Speedo dominated the Olympics and it did feel a bit underwhelming from a mizuno standpoint.
What a great vid, can't believe you took time to make all this. I have a quick question. Based on how many people wore the pure valour, does it mean it's a better suit than the primo? Or is it all based only on sponsorship? I'm a male who mainly does free and fly sprints, don't know if that helps.
Valor is your bread and butter suit. No bells and whistles, comfy and simple. Primo is one of the best suits ever made, taping, compression, multiple fabrics, dual layering. There is no reason to use Valor over Primo but some people will just resort to comfort, that being said for sprints go for Primo. I have full reviews on both. As I said in video if Primo was arenas only option it’d have been nearly as used as Valor which because of how bad the Intent is, is basically speedos only option. Arena had so many options the primo was still most worn but some people opt for other options.
Thanks. I cant give much discount as I’d lose money on the caps but here’s a coupon for £5 off Apply 5£ off all products with the promo code "YTVideo5". www.theswimsuitguy.co.uk/
Hey Sonny - I had a question. As a 5'10, 155lb. male (that should be ~1.78m, 70.3 kilos) do you think a size 23 high-waisted Pure Valor would fit? I know you mentioned you wear a 24 and you seem to be bigger than me, so was wondering what you thought of that sizing.
I had a size 24 Speedo. With a height of 179 and a weight of 77 kg, I swam in it for a couple of starts (they were very tight) and took the 25th. It fit perfectly.
@@ALFEROV111 I believe he actually had a 23 in his Pure Valor 2.0 review, but thanks for your input! I (should) be able to squeeze into it and the compression is fine since I only swim the 50 Freestyle. That being said, if I actually can't get it on, I might just send it back for a 24.
Quick question, if the arena primo can have 100 percent compression even when not fully stretched, does that mean i can get an arena primo with a training suit size? Or is it still worth going for a race suit size for whatever reason i cant think of?
For it to fit you need to follow sizing guide. If you get training suit size then it’ll be too big and be baggy. The shot should be downsized beyond what is comfortable
@@TheSwimsuitGuy Thanks for that. Is the arena size system good to follow? I'm talking about the guide where you put your body features like height and then it tells you a recommended size?
How come Mizuno was not used more? Almost absent in the most important swimming competition. I wonder if it is a matter of brands marketing budgets. Sad they concentrate more in sponsoring golfers and rugby players and forget about top swimmers....
It’s because they don’t sponsor athletes as I say. In Japan they sponsor the best swimmers, they are the biggest sports company there. Outside of Japan the focus is not the same, they have a tiny budget in US and none elsewhere.
Mate, this video research would have taken you a lot, a lot of time!! Kudos! Well done! Speedo is a terrible suit, Arena deserves all the credit it gets for it's range of suits. Some very interesting information you have revealed in this video. One of your best!
I'm curious to why the Pure Intent 2.0 sucks and what's different about it the Pure Intent 1.0? In your previous videos you seemed to like the Pure Intent. Also I have noticed the Pure Intent 1.0 seemed to be a more popular suit at the time it released compared to the 2.0
I had the pure intent 2.0 and 1.0. The 1.0 in 24 high waisted and the 2.0 in 25 high waisted. The 1.0 was still way more comfy and still gave good compression. So I think people generally like suits that are comfortable but also compressive like the valor.
Look through the channel history, I’ve been Mizuno fanboy since day 1…. But of the two big brands arena are miles ahead of Speedo. Also the Primo is THE SUIT RIGHT NOW!
Amazing how far behind TYR is falling. With Ledecky wearing TYR, she is upping the medals in that brand by herself. More money in research and less into marketing is needed IMO
Without Katie, Nic and Torri, TYR would have been basically vacant here. There was a time when they dominated and sponsored most national teams. A lot of their energy is now in CrossFit
1. Please look at stats. Speedo swimmers won’t wear it, that says enough. 2. My PBs have nothing to do with suits. Dressel could beat me in board shorts, doesn’t mean board shorts are better.
Epic overview man! Gold medal for the detailed analysis! 👏
Didn’t Pan break the 100m free WR in the Intent 2.0? Why would he choose it if it sucked or is it more of personal preference?
Cuz at the end of the day, the swimmer swims the race not the suit
Also because China is paired with Speedo
@@PP-3b2ox but the video said everyone was choosing the valor, also by speedo
Pan would have won the race full naked, unshaved and without googles. LOL
Great well researched and compiled video Sonny 👌.
He's back baby! So what you're saying is Pan can go even faster? 😮
Yes, get him in a Mizuno

do you think every backstroker used the backstroke edition of the valor?
No as a backstroke edition does not exist. Only Intent has backstroke edition and no one wore it. It’s a gimmick, don’t get it.
Nice video in the new office.
I thought Hobson wore the gx sonic 6 cr in the 200 free final cause it doesn’t look like a neo sl
Maybe, differentiating Mizunos is tough, especially when all black, I know the Texas boys love the SL though

Terus sangkut Kat belakang starting block. Bila dah start tarik sahaja.
Sonny; how much do you reckon swimmers would have worn other brands had they not been tied by sponsors?
A surprising lack of Mizunos
Sadly Mizuno has no budget outside of Japan. I think without sponsors at all it looks very different only on the men’s side.
@@TheSwimsuitGuy such a shame 😕
