I've been writing songs since I was a kid. Not saying I'm super talented, but I take this for granted. It's foundational to recreate the music you hear in your head. I can't vibe with musicians who only want to do covers. An artist will employ the techniques they learn from other songs and rearrange them. That's one reason why people like Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen , and Page were so creative. Slash plays very melodically and rhythmic, but it's approachable. I mean it doesn't have to be terribly difficult to sound good.

Just yesterday I was listening the story of a Brazilian singer who became very famous with the Lambada song. I was at work whistling the melody, and thought that I should try to play it on guitar, that song has a very amazing melody. This video is a confirmation that I must learn it.
