I dunno if someone told you this before but you are a very likeable person 😅 when you talk it feels like we have been friends for so long 😂 je t'aime from Egypt ✌️
How did I miss this?! Oh shame on me!!! This is so nice Rosie. I love that we can get to know you. And bless your sweet mum for working so hard to get you through boarding school. Thank you for being an open book ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for answering my question! I have started my French learning journey and I am so surprised at how well I am picking it up :) Can't wait for more videos xoxo
I absolutely agree with you about communication being 5x harder when you’re from different cultural/language backgrounds! I actually speak 5 languages myself, so I’m used to alternating between them as I speak...but not everyone is, lol! Great video 👌🏻
I so love Wellington so cool and relaxing there and people are so kind and awesome to. We had our honeymoon there with my French wife a couple of years ago.
there's a lot of teaching work with Loreal too... I have taught some people who work there, or are contracted with them, like IT people etc. I also have a good friend who is a graphic designer who has been contracted to design some of their packaging... I think Loreal are giving tonnes of jobs to foreigners in Paris.
I have read "Almost French" and her follow up book. "Seven Letters from Paris" by Samantha Verant is also a good read. I read a lot of books about English speaking people who have moved to France.
Oh my gosh ! Bonne continuation ! :D
Oui c'est ça ! Pas trop grande quoi ! Ça me va très bien :) haha !
Hi Rosie love your opening view of Paris and my favorite song Le Vie un Rose I always wanted to live in Paris good to see you and others having your dream come true 💰🎉🍰☕️
I'd love to know more about your experience doing long distance... NZ to France would be a lot more complicated than say France to the UK. (I'm not sure if there's a video on this already)
Really enjoyed this and can't wait to watch the rest of these videos this year! Also totally keeping this as a reference for some ideas of what to do when my husband and I eventually visit New Zealand. Everything you described sounds so cool.
Hey Rosie, I remind you your specific goal to be fluent in french and pass the C1 level at the end of 2018!! And the best way you found to succeed is to produce videos in french and I totally agree. What you should do I think is make your usual video in english first ( coz I improve mine!) and then translate it in a second part (coz you'll improve yours!), even if you just read your prepared subtitles!! Don't worry 10000 people love you and will surely support. You are very cute and be a lot more again trying speaking french and seeing you improving will probably bring people warm hope and a lot of good intentions for their personal wishes. Be confident soeurette.
Salut! Sadly Rosie did not mention the beauty of the land & coast or the wonderful hospitality to be found people in Northland, New Zealand. As a South Island born New Zealander who has travelled the world and now resides in the North - I say to would be travellers “Don’t miss it!
Coucou !
Just on the boarding school thing- they don’t have to have a church affiliation (although the vast majority do from what I know). Only because I went to Hamilton Boys’ which had a boarding option but we were a state school without church affiliation
Hi Rosie! Congrats for 10k and best wishes! I would like to know if there are lots of sharks on NZ beaches like in Australia and specially on surf spots? If yes, are there many accidents like for kangaroo surfers?
I live in LA...which is so international...with locals of all ethnicities but people from around the world. There's not much of a wall if you meet in LA...except for things like class, education, money...which really aren't that strong either. Just about half the people I know are international couples. It does help if you speak some English...though my wife could not speak very much English when she met me. She did learn very quickly.
Rosie you are a very beautiful person and I'm sure you made a very good choice of your boyfriend and your mother will be very proud of you and when i get settle in Zurich and hope we all meet and all get together. as i said a mouth full down below, my great Frank Sinatra "My Way"
Hey, I just saw that video, I'm a Lyonnais living in Paris currently, so if you want to do these videos on French "provinciaux" I would be glad to help !
Interesting that you said 'in-laws', not once by twice. Is it a Kiwi thing to refer to the parents of a long term SO in that way? (In the US, we only say that after marriage.) Also, I've now seen you quoted / referred to in two «The Local FR» articles, including this one: www.thelocal.fr/20180122/french-culture-shocks-that-no-one-tells-you-about. It's so lovely to randomly encounter you. It's a bit like walking into a local shop and seeing you browsing.
Hey !
Hi Rosie! Great vid like usual! I've got a question regarding french. How much french did you know going to France? How fast do you think you picked it up? What would u recommend learning french for me who is also learning Spanish?
What is the best season (month) to visit the South Island? What are the differences and similitudes with Scotland/Norway/Switzerland??.. Merci de votre réponse !
Just found your videos a few weeks ago.I am really enjoying them.I have noticed in this video you refer to your boyfriend’s parents as your in-laws? Is this a French or New Zealand pattern? In the US we use “ in law” as the term implies that a legal marriage has occurred and a family has been formed legally or by law. Thank you in advance :)
I am American (Puerto Rican and Black) and I am dating a woman in France (Arabic) and I am considering moving to France. I don't speak French. I wanted to do research on what I need to do.
So weird that in NZ the public schools get better results, in Aus its the opposite. You can be a good student in private, but usually there's lots of inappropriate teachers, religious interference and gender separation which is very archaic these days. All my private school friends talk of complaining about paedophile and sexual abuse in schools from teachers and while the facilities were more shiny, jobs were usually given to students depending on their last name, not skills or personality. I'd do the same classes in a public school and it was much more independent learning and striving to get the best results you can. I found the content delivered to the private students was just giving them the answer- so no imagination or thinking for yourself (I lived with 80 students from all schools in the city, so we would form study groups even though we were in different schools!).
Hey Rosie, I have the feeling there is a slight desynchronization between image and sound at the 1st part of the video... or maybe it's me Looks like you're not in NZ anymore ;p Et j'ai vu sur instagram que tu essayais de nous corrompre avec du chocolat :D (ça m'évoque la technique de "Math se fait des film" avec sa petite chanson de fin de video... si tu ne connais pas va jeter un coup d'oeil ça vaut le détour). ` And I have a question for you: how do you deal with the weight of foreign culture everyday/ home sickness? Even if you're adapted it is hard, especially when your home country is on the other side of the planet.
Little confused about something: (feel free not to answer if it's too personel). Are you married or just dating. You mention having "in-laws" which would lead people to think you are married. Yet, at the same time you also say you have a, "boyfriend". So, are you married or just dating?
"Comment j'ai rencontré mon partenaire? " Rosie, you must not to use "partenaire" about your boyfriend in french language. Partenaire is used for someone you meet in bed for...one night, or who can help you to do a special work in sport or job, etc.. for limited time. For your boyfriend, use words like "ami" or "compagnon" or "mon chéri" or one day..."mari" .
Does your company sponsor your visa? My main struggle right now in my French job search is finding a company that will actually sponsor my visa since I’ve heard it’s rather expensive for them to do so.
Starting at 11 turning 12 is more common because of the school structure. It sounds like that Rosie finished school at 17 instead of the usual 18 years old.
Honestly you could probably make more money from having one of their products in your videos or something like that, 10k subscribers is a pretty decent audience.
Lots of luck to you, you have a very nice personality, and you have a very nice mom putting you through boarding school, not so with me, i was with a foster family and i had to make my own luck , my own income and make my own investments with being frugal and it came to me naturally, as i had the right DNA, and being a man you must do it your self. Frank Sinatra song "My Way"
I dunno if someone told you this before but you are a very likeable person 😅 when you talk it feels like we have been friends for so long 😂 je t'aime from Egypt ✌️
Can totally confirm that singing is a great way to learn French! Acting too - reading a play outloud - doing anything you love, in French.
Definitely!
Ok. A year later, now March 2019; you have 80+k subscribers!
I really love your videos and hearing about your experiences. You seem like a really well rounded person and France/Paris is lucky to have you!
I think you complain a lot about french people complaining a lot. Be careful. You're truly becoming one of us. 🙂
your mum did a great job!
Good secondary school teachers too.
How did I miss this?! Oh shame on me!!! This is so nice Rosie. I love that we can get to know you. And bless your sweet mum for working so hard to get you through boarding school. Thank you for being an open book ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The way you met your boyfriend really sounds like a Hugh Grant movie it's so cute
Looking forward to your series with people from different regions of France! Great Idea!
I am Canadian/Filipina and dating a French man from Nice & I just love him
Loved to know you work with HR in a big company. Love your channel too, I live in NZ and I am married to a french guy

My guess is L’Oréal ;) good to get to know you a bit better, Rosie!
It's a small world... One of my family members is actually HRD for L'Oréal (not in France though)! :O
there's a lot of teaching work with Loreal too... I have taught some people who work there, or are contracted with them, like IT people etc. I also have a good friend who is a graphic designer who has been contracted to design some of their packaging... My impression has always been that Paris and cote azzure meet the overseas cliche of French much more than other parts of the country
I am American (Puerto Rican and Black) and I am dating a woman in France (Arabic) and I am considering moving to France. I don't speak French. I wanted to do research on what I need to do.

And I have a question for you: how do you deal with the weight of foreign culture everyday/ home sickness? Even if you're adapted it is hard, especially when your home country is on the other side of the planet.
Hi does anyone know what the intro song is called?
Yasmin Docrat La vie en rose🌹
Little confused about something: (feel free not to answer if it's too personel). Are you married or just dating. You mention having "in-laws" which would lead people to think you are married. Yet, at the same time you also say you have a, "boyfriend". So, are you married or just dating?
Hello there! I hope you are well.
Tu connais Flight of the Concords? 😊
did you meet a lot in those 18 months? you must have spent a lot of money on plane tickets
Okay
"Comment j'ai rencontré mon partenaire? "
Rosie, you must not to use "partenaire" about your boyfriend in french language.
Partenaire is used for someone you meet in bed for...one night, or who can help you to do a special work in sport or job, etc.. for limited time.
For your boyfriend, use words like "ami" or "compagnon" or "mon chéri" or one day..."mari" .
What do you mean when saying “real kiwis” like what are you referring to a kiwi as?
lol I live in Avignon.
Does your company sponsor your visa? My main struggle right now in my French job search is finding a company that will actually sponsor my visa since I’ve heard it’s rather expensive for them to do so.
Please please who is singing the opening song?
Debbie R - The song is "La vie en rose" by Edith Piaf but I don't know who sings this cover.
Which french cities/towns would you like to visit that you have never visited before? Why?
Merci pour toi réponse. ;)
Whats the song? And what remix?
Jonathan De Silva - The song is "La vie en rose" by Edith Piaf. I don't know this version but there are very nice covers on TH-cam
How old are you?
I can't imagine...10 years old and not with your Mother.
Starting at 11 turning 12 is more common because of the school structure. It sounds like that Rosie finished school at 17 instead of the usual 18 years old.
"Kind of like prison at times"
Word.
Are all the Kiwi ladies as pretty as you?
my guess is Dior lol
Honestly you could probably make more money from having one of their products in your videos or something like that, 10k subscribers is a pretty decent audience.
Alex Chad what about L'Oréal?
hiring a van? lol never heard that before
Lots of luck to you, you have a very nice personality, and you have a very nice mom putting you through boarding school, not so with me, i was with a foster family and i had to make my own luck , my own income and make my own investments with being frugal and it came to me naturally, as i had the right DNA, and being a man you must do it your self. In laws? Are you even engaged?
Christian or question?😝 😁😁😁😁
