I bought a Glockenklang Blue Soul, about ten years ago. Sadly, I hardly ever use it, nowadays, but it is, most definitely, one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard.
Played this as NAMM - loved it! Sounds great and so many great features
Beautiful playing, I really like his style. 🚀🧨🥊
That is some smooth playing, that is! 😎
This amp caught my attention. I might have to give one a try. Very nice!
Most awesome bass rig I have ever played was a Glockenklang Bass Art Top connected to a Bass Art Cab at Christof Kosts (R.I.P.) workshop ... that thing caused a hefty dose of GAS, until I decided to take the DI -> PA route at that time (with a good DI and a powerful PA you will have crushing bass tone).
An opportunity to hear our dear host say Glockenklang? Yes please.
I´m playing the Blue Sky for years with a 15 ART Cab, thats by far the best Amp I´ve ever had. I really dont need the drive section cause when you crankup the gain its gets a little bit grity anyways - really like you said it, Glockenklang makes the best amps!
Glockenklang is like mercedes for bass amps. High price and best quality. My budget is somehow to small. When you thinking about to get a real good almost everlasting bassamp the name Glockenklang comes along your way.
Groovy....I am playing through a Yamaha Stage Pas PA and a Acoustic Image Clarus amp and a Double Shot speaker...USA
Not a bass player, but yeah, I can tell that's a good bass amp and speaker. Player is jammin!! Great harmonic response at the start. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
I have a really old Trace AH350 SMX12 and an old original GK400RB and for the money I still get compliments on tone.
LOL
Hey Gregor, nice Video. What do you mean by “the more gentle sounding steamhammer”? I own the steamhammer and I am super happy with it, but now you made me a bit curious. 😉 To me they sound almost alike and also the specs seem to be very similar.
In general, you can’t go wrong with Glockenklang. Also played the blue soul a few years ago and it was an equally great amp. 😊
the best eq has Trace elliot AH1200-12 ;)
That bass player is got it going.
I admit I clicked on this to hear the proper way to say glockenklang
Sounds killer
Love that ❤❤❤❤
I've used Ampeg SVTs for years.... don't think I'll stop lol. Bass player has some nice chops it is a nice sounding amp though.
Hi Grigo! Thanks for this review. I’m a happy owner of a Glockenklang Soul II. Since 2009 my amp for everything.
As im getting older and more weight conscious, I am very much I am intrigued in this amp. Damn! It weighs just 4 kilos and has literally everything.
I’d be curious how it compares with the Spartan by Vanderkley.
All the best and thank again for your videos
"4 kg it's about 300 strips of Bacon .... " 😂😂😂
Der war echt Gut 🎉❤👍
The tone is really nothing special, but what really interests me is the sub frequency control. That is insanely useful for stages that can't handle the full rumble of a bass amp
You should check out Broughton pedals. They have a pedal just for that and you don't pay extra for something you don't need.
Glockenklang? Name rings a bell.
i love glockenklang. i still prefer a class a amp and bought a glockenklang heart-core a couple years ago. absolute best solid state I've ever played and it's even taken the place of my fancy tube head
As the rack ears are optional and not yet available... A good idea from the company would be to put the main switch ON/OFF on the front panel and not on the back. Annoying to me because I have to go on the back of the 6U rack and find in the dark the ON/OFF switch.
You bass player certainly has chops.
Great name: ‘Glockenklang’ ✊
@@markkeeler584 - I wasn’t far off then, I thought Clanging Bell.
I Gregor, what about the blue Guild Starfire I back there?
Gregor, is that 300 crispy bacon strips, or 300 floppy bacon strips?
Hi, thanks for the Review. I was already waiting for that one. I am seriously thinking about buying one. What cabinet would you suggest to go with that Amp for the cleanest Sound possible. Bass Art Classic or 2x10 or 4x10... or something else?
Lastly while waiting for that cabinet could I use this with just headphones without doing any damage?
DAAAAAAAAAANG that sound is Delicious!!!!!!!
But how does it sound with a Squier?
hell's bells!
Question to the community: what do you think of the Glockenklang Soul II?
What's that bass used in the first demo? Looks beautiful!
Sandberg bass the world signature California
Sounds great. What is the orange bass?
That’s the Sandberg BassTheWorld Bass
So we are safe to say Gregor is not fan of the fan.
Sounds good but to complicated for me
This is a bad ass amp. I would certainly like to have one, but I'm guessing this isn't exactly an affordable budget friendly amp. Not practical for most bass players and enthusiasts. $1,600 (us dollars) is a bit out of reach. Thanks for sharing
Der Kaiser, sieh mal an👋👋
GREGOR YOU CAN JUST SEND THAT TO ME NOW
The amp is a dream but unfortunately out of my price range. Maybe some day I earn enough…for now my hughe and kettner must suffice. It’s great and stage proven , a real work horse.
what GLOCKENKLANG speaker cabinet do you recommend using with the blue bird?
any is great. my personal favorite is the Bass Art Classic cab
@@basstheworldofficial what about using it with the Glockenklang Take Five Neo 4x10 4 Ohms? what's your opinion?
Nah Im stick with Aguilar. Is just THE SOUND ❤
As an American, I can’t readily convert bacon strips, but I believe 14kg is equal to 3.75 AR-15s
0:00 - No.
No, I dont.
But let's hear you out.
👍👍👌
Sounds fantastic. Shame about the fan noise. It’s not difficult to use a silent fan with a variable fan speed controller these days.
I understand, but why. This is not the amp for living room jamming, no? 🙂
@@Plangy1616 Because not every part of a gig is always at a loud level. I often play at gigs where there are multiple ensembles. So 20 piece big band with lots of trumpets, trombones, piano, drums etc etc, but then the next song might be just bass and a single clarinet player. Fan noise is a real problem when just playing with 1 other instrument like that. It's very noticeable.
I have three Glockenklang amps, none of them have a problem with the fan noise.
My Blue Sky, which has the same fan installed as the Blue Bird, has no problem with the fan noise.
You can't hear him.
Either this is the best sounding bass amp ever or the bassist in the video dropped some X about an hour prior to filming.
It's ok for a solid state amp
300 bacon strips ?!?!?
Nice amp, strange name… as if it’s named after the sound it makes when you drop it down the stairs 🤨
Glockenklang refers to the sound of a bell in German.
Superb quality amp... but I just can't get into that whole "clean" sterile sound which seems to be so popular among German and Japanese bass players.
...and that's okay - you don't "have" to.
it weighs 300 bacon strips, for our american viewers 🤣
I like the name but, 2 grand? Buy Mesa Boogie instead and save the G.
Mega is not selling stuff in Europe for 3 years.
@@grohu really? I didn’t know that
@@grohu hard to get the glockeklang in the USA
All right enough with the Mesa fanboy stuff …talkbass is already riddled with it. Yeah, they sound nice but this amp is boutique level
Too many knobs. 🤷🏼♂️
Bass amps are so 2017 😂
The Glockenklang is technically a good amp for sure, but i don't know why it sounds so sterile, at least for me. After trying hard to get a sound for over one year i sold my Blue Rock again. Perhaps it's good for rock music, for funk and soul it didn't work for me.
