    For those who don't get it: Bad News was respected by the Japanese because he was an accomplished judoka who won an Olympic bronze medal in the Japanese sport/Martial Art and also spent time in Japan. They knew he was legit, and also respectful to their cultural.

      Allen, of course, was a legit world class grappler type fighter, apparently one of the judo associations full contact judo world champs I know he definitely was , a heavyweight judo olympic medalist, etc. None of the pro wrestlers are going to fuck with him in the ring. His matches typically probably went very smoothly for him, no bs. In a real wrestling match, he could probably win by a submission against almost all of them very quickly.

    BNB says Abdullah was making $10,000 per week in Japan. 500k per year. For a wild-man from the Sudan he did pretty good. Guy used to scare me when I was a kid back in the 1970's.

    • @jonmccormick8683
      @jonmccormick8683 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      $10k in Japan in the early 80's would be like almost $60k now. Japan currency went up 2-3x in the late 80's. = A 1985 Honda car was about $5k in 1990 closer to $15k. About $30k in today's money.

Some of them fit that description, however the majority of them are college educated athletes or blue collar family men who had to be a traveling agent, accountant and performer day after day for years.
