You may be 60, but you’re the best-looking 60 I’ve ever seen😀…I’ll be 83 in November and everyone tells me I don’t look it, and i certainly don’t act it…I was also going to get a face lift at a certain age, but now I embrace my wrinkles…I earned them , and everything else that’s sagging, bagging and dragging. I try to enjoy every day. Although my physical activity has taken a detour, I now do art journaling…basically making different sized journals from found papers,ephemera, scrapbooking papers and collaging them in my various journals…such fun, 😅and very therapeutic…if you’re interested, try The Paper Outpost with Pam…you can even use fabric and paper ….keep sewing, Viv …you’re my favorite, and many others’ too❤️🙏🇺🇸💐
Hi Viv. I get such a kick out of your channel! I started out hand sewing doll clothes because I was too young (so I was told) to use our ancient black Montgomery Ward straight stitch. Finally i turned 9 and could legally sew in 4-H. That was 60 years and many machines ago. I love your reviews because you tell it like it is: the really nice patterns and fabric, the unfortunate choices, the awkward instructions, the fixables and the trashables. I especially like “rock on with your bad self”!!! Also I love that you make from patterns both modern and from past eras, and make them all relevant. Knowing how to sew has been a big part of my life, both here and abroad, for many reasons and I am glad that there has been a resurgence of interest in this very useful skill. You keep making and showing us what’s what! 🤗

There is the idea that we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time. Day in and out we tend to do the same things over and over, whether in the work world, or at home.😸 in the summer I am in the garden every day, so casual easy care clothes are what I need.

How about facing your fears and sewing a vintage pleated skirt! I really want to make knee length skirts now I turned 50! I think the vintage fifty year olds look cute in their blouses and pleated skirts. You look amazing for sixty! You don’t need a facelift, you have inner beauty that radiates and money can’t buy💕💕💕💕
Thank you for showing the sewing makes that didn't turned out to your liking. That's one thing that happens to me. The picture on the model looks so nice. But, sometimes it doesn't look so good on me. Could be the fabric or the way the pattern is drawn. I just have to realize that sewing is just for fun. And when it doesn't turn out, I learned what doesn't look so good on me. And focus on what does look good. But, its nice to know I'm not alone in some disappointments.
Really like New Look 6305 jacket. I wouldn't add buttons or a belt, hanging open looks good. The pockets are a great addition. I liked all your makes, don't think they are boring at all.
Viv, the face we have at 60 is the face that shows how we've lived our lives. Your face is lovely and full of joy! So love it. Remember, 60 is the youngest you're ever going to be (smile). For your green top, could you try doing a vertical rouching up each sleeve? It will give you a bit of a tulip hemline, but pretty. For the pleat, try some French Fuse interfacing, just in the area of the box (I thought that fabric was a jersey, but as a challis, FF interfacing will work great). It will stabilize the full box, then you can edge stitch the edges of the inverted sides and the pleat will stay inverted. Or, just leave them. They looked great!

Your videos are never, ever boring! I am always amazed at your gorgeous makes from patterns that, to me, would never inspire. You are very talented and your experience of the Big 4 pattern companies just shines through. I always sewed with Vogue patterns in late 70s and early 80s then had a break of nearly 40 years. Now I am inspired by Indie patterns and only the occasional Big 4 (whose instructions are not good!). A good job we are all different 😊

My girlfriend made the pleat dress in 1968, and that rayon scarfiness was most acceptable!
