i find it extremely professional and amazing, even with all technology, she (soyeon) always ends up using the members talent, minnie always narrates their performances and teasers, and the members most of the time help soyeon when she doesn't do it on her own. yes, there are other groups wich are bigger than gidle, but no one can deny that this kind of work its unique and pure,no one can deny their talents.
This song will not affect you now.. just wait a month or two.. whenever you listen to it 2nd or 3 rd time in future... It's going to stuck in your head.. Actually it is one of the best song in Kpop
True. I was indifferent to this song in the beginning, but now I love it. And I was indifferent to Minnie, but after hearing this whistle, I realized finally how talented she is :)
It's one of my faves from them & the whistle and melody does get stuck with you. I just dont know how someone listens to a song twice, dissects it for over 15 minutes and says "I felt nothing"...what?!! But I'm glad he liked the colors..lol
It's semi-English spelling. Yǔqí is the offical Mandarin transliteration of her name 雨琦 , which is pronounced close to "you-chee" (or 의치, if it's clearer) - the sound written as "q" is kind of a soft "ch". About a millennium ago, Korean borrowed a bunch of vocabulary from Chinese, so there are equivalent words in Korean; If you take the syllables ("rain jade") of her name in Chinese and pronounce the corresponding words in the modern Korean pronunciation, you get Ugi. Shūhuá is the official transliteration of 舒華, which sounds almost exactly the same as 슈화, and how you think "Shuhua" should sound (with a "shoe" sound). Unlike Yuqi, Shuhua did not "reinterpret" her Chinese characters in Korean reading, which would be 서화 (Seohwa), AFAIK - she straightforwardly wrote the sound of her name in Hangeul.
Living in Malaysia and being friends with Chinese, i was always bewildered that Yuqi was pronounced that way . Because i pronounce her name as you-chee but now i know. Thank you
I really appreciate your honest reactions, I totally relate to listening to a song and just feeling nothing. I wasn't a huge fan of Hann at first either, but then one day out of the blue the song did grow on me massively. Maybe that could happen for you too, but I enjoyed your reaction regardless
About the song not touching you all that much, let me elaborate on the double meaning of the title and why this song still gives me goosebumps to this day. While the Chinese character and the Korean pronunciation is literally 'one', which is why the English title is 'Alone', there is another meaning of 'han' in Korean culture. (from wiki) "Han is a concept of an emotion, variously described as some form of grief or resentment, among others, that is said to be an essential element of Korean identity..." To be fair, it is somewhat of an invented identity of sorts, but stay with me. Now, the description is almost intentionally vague, as it is often said that only Koreans know of this emotion, but I think the song perfectly encapsulates it. It's not the romanticised breakup song done and dusted by hundreds of other artists, you know, bawling your eyes out, losing meaning in life, all that stuff, but rather a very realistic depiction of it. It is over, you are sad and furious at the same time, but you are in full control. There is no looking back, no second chances, it's done. All you try to do is forget or become stronger from the wounds. And THAT is why this song is dark and powerful. The haunting whistle melody by Minnie, the distorted string samples, the bass coming in waves all set the mood. It is not empowerment and fierceness, like in Lion, nor the seduction and the pounding bass drop of Oh My God - here, it's just sorrow and emptiness. It reminds me of how most East Asian horror movies are not about demons or the devil or such, but human tragedy. The ghost haunting a house is usually a woman that was betrayed, left alone, dead from her suffering, but so resentful, so unrelenting that she has to stay in this world. The fact that a completely rookie group, right after their debut in a follow-up single managed to, no, embodied a song so mature and artistic is a testament to Soyeon's songwriting genius and the members' professionalism.
Shuhua's voice is like half way between Miyeon and Minnie, its interesting b/c she can sound similar to each of them depending on the context. Also idle's "crack" type videos are hilarious, I like the channel called Alydle who makes those videos.
omg 😭 reaction to uh oh and put it straight live next ✨ and maybe their new album coming up!! And lol also maybe a listening party for their i burn Album :) they’re so worth stanning btw
hann is one of their most popular songs and tbh is one of my favorites, you can still react to latata (their debut song, probably the most popular one in korea), uh oh and señorita, also they are coming back in january 11th so i'll be waiting!!
I kinda have the same"neutral" reaction like you when i first heard Hann. And i dont know as well how it grew on me because after listening to it several times, it suddenly became one of the best songs ive ever listened to. The instrumentals are insane!! Then combined with the revengeful lyrics, i really liked it. Hann still tops my favorite gidle songs, lion and omg are kinda close but their instrumentals aren't as genius as hann. I think HWAA will take hann's #1 spot for me tho. I hope you'll check that out as well once it's out!!
Shuhua is actually known for her chameleon voice. She sounds like a mix of other members, and often others mistake her voice for another one of the members. Lion's audio was released before the performance and MV, and everyone thought Shuhua's part was sung by Miyeon.
g.idle made the debut of the year with Latata they win rookie if the year and soyeon writed/produced it in few days to make her group debuting she is really a super genius
it would be great if u reacted to some gidle content like things gidle say that seem like fake subs but aren’t or gidle moments that have me shook (although that one may have some spoilers for their songs u haven’t heard) I can list more 😂
When Aaron started with OH MY GOD, followed up with LION, HANN in comparison can come off as watered down. It's completely backwards, as (G)I-DLE have steadily been upping themselves as they've been going along. Keeping that in mind, HANN is their second single, their first attempt at darkness, so it was a stepping stone that led to them going to more darker themes. Typically most girl groups don't go dark until they're like 3 or 4 years in, (G)I-DLE was already changing their sound from LATATA to HANN in the span of months... 3 months to be exact. So when people think back on HANN, they remember that dramatic change, which is why they defend it so passionately. No one expect this after LATATA. BUT I agree with Aaron. I like where HANN led to more than the song itself. It's a great song, but it's not my favorite.
Yea, I didn't enjoy hann on my first listen too. Similar to what you said, i felt neutral towards it too. But somewhere along the line, it really grew on me and it's become one my go to songs from them.
Everyone didn’t like it at first or maybe it’s just me BUT *BUUT* it becomes addicting after a few listens. Also you have to watch the live performance it’s magical and Taehyung and RM from BTS loves this song.
Thank youuu for this reaction!!! When I first heard hann, it didn't piqued my interest. After a week or so, it was stuck on my head. Hoping to see your reaction to their upcoming album! I Burn! And UH OH💜💜💜
If you want to see like the dark side of IDLE.. I would really recommend you to invest your time in watching the put it straight nightmare ver. From mnet show queendom... It will be something harder hitting.... I will recommend you also hear maybe from the same album as oh my god... They are also coming back on 11 jan with album I burn, I have heard the audio snippet for album and not gonna lie... 3 to 4 tracks out of 6 in total seem kind of dark like lion or oh my god. Ofc I can't be sure because the songs are not out..I am sure atleast 2or3 tracks are gonna be dark.... Meanwhile I really recommend you to watch the above mentioned queendom performance because if you are here for the deep darker side of idle then please wait while watching that put it straight nightmare ver.... (G)I-DLE is making a comeback which is actually giving that dark aura.. again Please don't wait and look forward to it.... I am assuring you that they are perfect group to stan, they are somewhat like rv meaning exploring some different sides of music too.. Please don't make your final decision now... If you also want to see their debut song Latata then please watch the queendom remix version first because original is kinda girl crush and funky... Btw yuqi is pronounced ugi and shuhua is pronounced shhuhhua..💜🥀 Also uh oh is a hip hop track...
I think "Lion" and "Oh My God" will be very much like "Bad Boy" was for Red Velvet. Some people who got interested in Red Velvet during that era had skewed expectations. Some Reveluvs do not even consider them as "true fans", because they tend to dislike songs that were iconic but very different from "Bad Boy". There were even some fears that Red Velvet might change because of pressure from those "fans". I feel now, after "Lion" and "Oh My God", people new to (G)i-dle also have skewed expectations. (G)i-dle is, similarly to Red Velvet, very flexible group. They do a lot of different concepts, some of them experimental. Actually "I Trust" EP was very experimental and quite different compared to their previous releases. But so was "Uh-Oh". I remember how surprising it was. As for "Hann". It is ironic that this song when listening alone, without context, can be rather disappointing. Especially now after "I Trust". It was their first release after explosive debut EP "I am". In my personal opinion "Hann" fits quite well with "I am" and shows nicely their evolution into their next EP "I made". I wonder if your opinion about this song will change after listening to more of (G)i-dle or will you experience something similar as fans of "Bad Boy" but not Red Velvet.
12:35 When you say "projection of her memories" you are actually pretty close."정든 네 눈에 내 맘을 비추죠" where the direct translation to the lyrics would be something like "Your eyes that I'm used to(comfortable/had affection for) will reflect/project my mind."
Id appreciate if you react/watch queendom. g idle is in it that how they made the "lion" . queendom is basically a survival show that in the end they need to perform a comeback this is my fav show ❤ btw love this keep up the goodwork.
the part you thought shuhua sounded like minnie, im pretty sure minnie was doing the harmonizations, but also shuhua has such an interesting/unique voice texture! she blends really well with others I think
Yess..Shuhua got the part and was supposed to sing but Minnie sang for her (you will notice in other songs as well). Once Shuhua have mentioned she is still uncomfortable with korean pronunciation which she usually got criticized by netizens. :(( Thats why Soyeon always makes sure to give a spotlight to Shuhua in Mvs or Stages. what a great bond between Leader and Maknae ❤️ BTW Welcome to NEVERLAND(I-DLE's fandom name).
Hann isn’t my favorite but I still love the song it really grew on me after several listen, it’s okay not all songs will work for you for some people uh oh wasn’t working but it’s my favorite song from idle so we all have different taste and it’s okay, anyway they are coming back in January 11 please check it out album called I burn and song hwaa
That whistle throughout the video is Minnie. Soyeon tried to find various whistle samples, but Minnie whistling ended up being the best.
i find it extremely professional and amazing, even with all technology, she (soyeon) always ends up using the members talent, minnie always narrates their performances and teasers, and the members most of the time help soyeon when she doesn't do it on her own.

shuhua's voice is very unique, the girls said it's really hard to know her voice because she sounds like every member
Shuhua's voice is really hard to recognize because she can sound like any member. She has a chameleon like voice.
I really love Han I hope you'll like it!! But if you don't it's alright, at least you're always very honest about it which is great
I agree 👍🏻

You need to see "uh oh'!!!
What Minnie did there i think is she's projecting her inner thoughts.
There were even some fears that Red Velvet might change because of pressure from those "fans".

hann really captures my heart everytime i listen to it I don't know why

I think of the projection as of her true emotions and detachment because of previous pain
