This song is honestly so unique. I mean, most g-idle songs are, they use very unconventional instruments and sounds but somehow always make it work.
Too bad they didnt watch the performance.. I feel like the arranged version with the performance it's the full experience! But I think this way is better to focus on the song itself! Put it straight it's my favorite gidle song! Love your reactions ❤

i feel like its a different feeling watching this version as compared to the performance version. this doesn't fully capture the "nightmare" feel that the performance tried to showcase, mainly because imo the different costumes were a little distracting :/
On the upside, I find the sound mixing to be much better in the dance practice version.
Soyeon is a genius and GIDLE are incredible performers! While I still prefer the lonely, melancholy feel of the original, I do love how the Nightmare version stands on its own and gives a more unhinged feeling. Also I get why you decided not to react to the Queendom version (because of Mnet) but I hope the reactors watch the Queendom performance on their own because it's one of the best performances I've seen in a long time. The emotion and commitment GIDLE put into it was amazing!
she is definitely amazing. i couldn't wait for her solo music after gidle in the future. for this song, i was introduced with the nightmare version first. so when i listened to the original, i could only hear the nightmare version. cant hear them apart xD

This might be one of my favorite reactions on this channel. You can tell how into and moved by the song they were. I love both versions, they each express a different form of heartbreak for me.
The original seems more isolated, full of self-loathing, and like they’ve given up. The nightmare version feels obviously creepy but also possessive, like they’re in denial to the extent they’ll take drastic measures to ensure they’re always with their beloved.

This reaction reminds us that Soyeon did a lot of stuff during the Queendom production: she finished Lion, rearranged Latata and (this song) Say No, plus planned all of (G)I-dle's performances including the set design, costume and choreography. I know she gets a bunch of help but a lot of i-dle's creative output does start with her, as was actually shown in Queendom. Too bad ReacttotheK couldn't react to the Queendom performance because that was the better version. And it was done live!

I found the nightmare version today and was mezmerized by it. But compared with the original song I'm even more fascinated how they rearranged it. Thank you for this experience! Keep up the awesome work, love your videos.

maybe i'm biased because i've been in a similar situation as to what the song is about but ughhh this is one of their best songs, genuinely. i wish more people knew about it, it's stunning and you can feel so many emotions.
yeah this is THAT song. I first heard the nightmare version first, on Queendom. That performance was a legendary one. Their emotion in their voices, their facial expressions. This song got me into them, and here i am now, a part of nevie since 2019.

I think with the nightmare version it feels like the heartbreak has driven them crazy while in the original it was more like sitting alone in a room with the lights off

Can anyone explain to me why G-idle is not nominated on any 2020 MAMA categories? Definitely one of the most talented groups, they're like Red Velvet for me, a group that's not afraid to do different kinds of genres (don't mention the groups that do different genres with their B side tracks, I'm talking about the title songs), they don't settle with the basic shits.
They do not have bigger fandom. I mean MAMA is all about fandom. When you have the strongest fandom, you can easily win at award and thats how mnet gets their fucking money. Not by quality but by quantity. So just ignore. Many quality artist do not win at MAMA, doesn't mean they are not good.

apparently there’s something going on between cube and mnet. because it doesn’t make sense since (g)i-dle had their most successful year so far. their latest single, dumdi dumdi, still charting on the korean charts and doing good. also they’ve won 4 music shows with oh my god and 6 music shows with dumdi dumdi.

@@wifeysubbie7349 maybe, we don’t know for sure, but it kinda makes sense. i mean, idle was literally the only rookie group on the show and let’s be honest, they were the only ones that constantly gave us various spectacular performances. also the fact that they changed up the voting system during kingdom...as far as i remember, when idle participated to queendom no other cube group showed their support towards us, correct me if i’m wrong.
It would have been such an experience to watch the performance but mnet sucks. But the way they described how the artists expressed their emotions, that’s also something I realized the first time I heard the song. Their voices bring you the emotions even if you haven’t felt a breakup. (G)I-DLE is truly unique. Soyeon is a genius. Also I Made is an underrated album, all the tracks are so unique and amazing like this, the girls know how to perform and are truly amazing artists

While I like Put It Straight a lot, after I watched their Nightmare version on Queendom, I prefer their new unhinged edition over the original. However, both songs are so different that you can see them as two separate songs.
Btw, as good as the dance choreography is, their Queendom performance is still unrivaled, and it represents the song better imo.
The fact that none of the girls ever blink when they are square to the camera in the nightmare version is something your eyes pick up but your mind doesn't tell you is happening. The details (G)I-DLE puts into their videos is fascinating.

This song is one of their greatest, the more you listen to it the more you feel what they created.
Imagine the different reactions they would've had if they watched the Quuendom Ver. of this song. Though that one has more choreographic elements to it, the percussions used as the dancers contorted their bodies was very nice and chilling.
i wanna tag Soyeon in this video so baddd so she'll make another arrangement of the song plus incorporating their comments. just thinking about the end product makes me excited 🤩
아이들은 진짜 내가 자라면서 봐온 걸그룹 아이돌 중에 멤버 개개인이 음악성이 가장 뛰어남. 노래 다 기본 이상은 함. 오히려 타 그룹 메인보컬 급인 애들이 서브보컬로 있음. 랩도 소연이뿐만 아니라 우기도 잘함. 춤은 다 기본. 팀에서 지금 공식적으로 3명(소연, 우기, 민니)이 작곡을 해서 결과를 보여줬고 엄청 잘 뽑음 진심. 멤버들 피아노, 바이올린, 고쟁 같은 악기 다룰 줄도 암. 이 영상처럼 무대 위에서는 자기 컨셉에 맞게 몰입해서 연기를 함. 근데 연기를 개잘함... 그런데 이게 데뷔한지 3년이 안된 그룹의 실력이라는거... 외모와 춤으로 승부보는게 아니라 외모 춤은 기본으로 깔고 노래, 음악성으로 보여주는 실력파임.

Of all the girl group idols I've seen growing up, (G)I-DLE's each member has the best musicality. They all can sing well beyond the basics. Rather, other group's main vocalist class members are sub-vocalists in (G)I-DLE. Not only Soyeon but Yuqi is good at rapping. I really surprised when I listened Yuqi's rap! Also they can dance. And three members(Soyeon, Yuqi, Minnie) of the team have officially written songs and showed us the results, and they're really good at it. They can play instruments like piano, violin, and Guzheng. They are immersed in his concept and acted on the stage like this video. And their acting is really nice. However, this is the talent of a group that debuted less than three years ago... Not by appearance and dance, but by music and their ability, they're talented idols.
(There are also some girl groups with outstanding musicality, such as BLACKPINK and MAMAMOO. But the difference is that not only the title song but also 95 percent of the songs of (G)I-DLE in the album were composed by IDLE's members. So IDLE can sing their own songs and only they can sing their unique concepts. That's why I think (G)I-DLE is the best musically in this respect.)
And they also focus on giving an outstanding performance and always sing live rather than focusing on dancing which is pretty great that's why I feel like Im watching a concert everytime they perform

Put It Straight is one of my favorite IDLE songs and the nightmare version + the Queendom stage made me fucking SHAKE last year, it's just THAT good. Soyeon is a genius.
Original put it straight is my favourite (G)I-DLE bside song and when you explain details on it I just love it even more. For me it's pure emotion, I love it's vocal harmonies and less instruments. Thank you for video I enjoyed it a lot!

It's notable to mention that in the Nightmare version, they were wearing red wedding gowns ish dresses and there were props on the stage like broken bottles and other things behind a police tape. The rearrangement changed not only the instrumental and the atmosphere but also the meaning - while the original version was more mellow and sad, the nightmare version was angry and psychotic. It was heavily implied that in the end, they killed their "husband" for trying to leave them hence the police lines.
i hope they all got to watch the queendom performances after to also enjoy it in another form!! also loved the reaction at 15:00 XD
I hope somehow or someway even if its offscreen they were able to see the queendom ver. And we can know what they thought about it, since some talked about how the song was emotionally, and the emotional impact of the queendom ver was something else.
The ballad version, to me, conveys the feelings of "why?" Why or how is this happening to me? In response to @9:01, it doesn't feel super sad to me either. It feels like the person in the story was in a state of denial or disbelieve that this event is happening to her and on the border of losing her mind.
The nightmare version conveys the same disbelieve emotion except now the person in the story has lost her mind and gone psycho.
퀸덤 무대 였다면 조금더 좋았겠다는 생각을 해보았다.... 물론 다 소름이었지만 무대가 이야기적으로 잘 풀어져있어서 더 재밌었을것 같다
Okay, both versions are dope as hell. It really amazed me that such beautiful, eerie sound in the first song could be rearranged even more eerie yet still retained the beautiful and sad emotions. Super, super cool.
Btw, I had so much new perspective and admiration at some groups in Kpop after hearing their B side songs. They really does put their crown jewel and efforts in B side, some are even more experimental effect, themes or vibes (backward-kind effects in sync with the beats, longer delay in silence). Such a great experience and journey in music, I really like it a lot.

I think the chorus of this song is saying "it hurts' or something like that, and it's cool how they were able to catch that there was that pain in the music.
