    Wow Thorn, this speech is so amazing it litterally made me cry. Thank you for teaching the people a valuable lesson about the importance of equality. I’m Cis-gender, and I’m still learning, but I’m doing a lot of research on prejudices towards non-binary people for a project and this is the best, clearest speech out of the many I’ve seen. You are truly an amazing person and I hope you hold many more inspiring speeches like these. Keep fighting. 😁❤️

    Thank you so much for being willing to put yourself out there and embody such resilience… as others have said, this is really empowering to watch. My own revelations of my gender identity happened relatively late in life (within the last couple years, im 24) probably due to the lack of non-binary visibility, and I really look up to you for this!! we’re here & we’re queer 🥳

    When I observe Thorn, I see a biological female attempting to conform to the sociological norms associated with what is often expected of a male. Thereby she can perfectly fit within the binary world she speaks of. Regardless of how she perceives herself, I can identify her in a manner that serves my understanding.
    While it is undeniable that social norms evolve over time, they have endured for thousands of years for a particular purpose: to simplify life and establish order. These norms are constructed to cater to the needs and expectations of the majority, fostering social cohesion, shared values, and a sense of belonging. This, in turn, promotes stability and the harmonious functioning of a society.
    Attempting to alter these norms to accommodate the minority or even the individual can be seen as a self-centered endeavor, as it has the potential to lead to polarization and societal instability in the long run.

I will say non-binary is still puzzling to me, however, because it is becoming more and more a talking matter I have made it a purpose to learn about this topic so I can talk intelligently and caring. You deserve representation. Thanks for sharing and mostly opening my eyes wider and clearer. Lots of kisses and hugs.

    Why non binary,is not androgynous?most woman to be nonbinary ten to the masculine expression,and men towards the femenine expression,it is just visual,I know,but if you feel nonbinary,neither one of them,why the expression , in dressing is not more neutral as well.with absolute respect......

    • @elestevenson1403
      @elestevenson1403 ปีที่แล้ว

      hiya, i get you're point dude, and if you care to hear mine that would be cool. I guess that is the most obvious form of non-binary, it is the most striking and sticks in our head the most as it is the presentation of someone going against what the binary has put on them. Visual presentation is one thing and perhaps their other attributes are have both feminine and masculine and other traits.
      But also maybe they don't, some non-binary people are like as thorn said "fem non-binary".
      I heard on another ted talks that gender is less of a spectrum, less left or right and more like constellations. Every constellation has different stars and they together make up a different pattern. And so, you can relate this to gender if it works for you. Sometimes the stars will be masculine traits feminine traits or just traits and together they will make up the person, the constellation. Every constellation is different. Some you can compare to
      others and some you cannot. This fluidity and complexitiy and difference exists in our universe and in us too, i believe.

    • @elestevenson1403
      @elestevenson1403 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i believe androgynous is more focusing on the physical visual presentation of someone rather than their gender identification. Please tho correct me if i am wrong.

    Hij zegt dat ze ally's nodig hebben? Dat was ik, maar waarom waarderen jullie ze dan niet? Weet je wel wat ik allemaal niet gedaan heb voor de lgbtq gemeenschap? En dan toch ondankbaarheid. Thorn moet zelf weten, dat kunnen wij niet bepalen, maar laat het de keuze van mensen zijn wat wij hiermee willen. We zijn niet verplicht om je accepteren, en het recht op dwingen of toe te spreken heb je niet. Zo werd dit precies in mijn gezicht gezegd. Je hebt geen recht om mijn mening te laten veranderen. • @StellarJones

    Listening to this non-binary individual gives me an insight into how they think. Basically they just want to be in the middle, experience being both male and female at the same time. One can be 75% male and 25% female, while another can be 25% male and 75% female. That being in the middle kind of mentality is something we general public cannot comprehend. They do accept their biology on what they were born to start with, but mentally they are something else. One non-binary person can choose to have a child (that is if that person is biologically female capable of bearing a child) while taking testosterone trying to become 25% more male, and have a non-binary partner who is biologically male is taking estrogen trying to be 25% female. Its mind bending to even try to comprehend this absurdity.

      They are just labeling emotions in order to feel special because they always have low to zero self-esteem, literally everyone is a combination of male and female traits/expressions etc, it doesn't need any damn labels to fit every little variation, they are NORMAL human emotions and have just being popularised for attention, no one cares unless you shove it in their face 24/7.

    • @eddy_bee
      @eddy_bee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It's not absurd it's just not the binary you were raised to exist in, it's okay if it's new for you. New isn't bad it's just new.
