  • I picked this up about 3 years back, and it's made me a lot of money. These are simple to use, have no moving parts to wear out, and with care should last a lifetime.
Static bubble balancing has been around for many many years and it works nearly as well as newer Dynamic balancing. I'd certainly say it's worth the money if you'd like to get into tire work on the cheap.

I have an old green bubble balancer & weights sitting in my basement with al the other toys that go with it sitting in my basement
I haven't used it since inheriting it from my father in law ,14 yrs ago
Thanks for the video , For some reason thought spin balancing was superior .

A spin balancer will give a slightly better balance at times, but not worth the extra $$ for it.

I had the front tires bubble-balanced on an '81 Toyota Tercel in early 1990, as I recall. The car drove well, though the major tire stores I have been in since favor more modern dynamic balancers to do the job. I like the old school bubble technology for this one :)

I have a Tacoma , I brought it to a tire shop to have. All wheels balanced, one week later I brought it back as the balance job was still shaking, second balancing was no better.
I'm going to buy a Harbor Freight bubble balance and see if I can do better. Great Video. Thanks

      How’d you do?

your truck could need alignment or something along the axle, wheel bearings shot, camber, etc.. could be multiple reasons why your truck still shakes after a balance. Good luck.

Static balance controls the up and down imbalance to the tire and wheel assembly. I personally agree it is a good idea to splint the weight by installing weights on both the front and the back. Dynamic balance controls both up and down imbalance as side to side imbalance (steering wheel shake).

Yup! For 90% of tire balance needs, the old school Static balance is all that is needed.

Did you ever make the comparison video between the static balance, dynamic, and road force balancer?

I really need to. I did one, but not on film. The results? Bubble is dynamic was no more than 1/4 Oz change.

So what happened to checking the static balancing results with a dynamic balancer?

I did the test. It was .25 on two of the tires, even on the second. and the last one was .50 out. That one might have been a comeback, but usually customers don't notice anything less than 1.00 out.
