Fantastic show, couldn't make live but just watched recording, The black and whites were amazing. two backgrounds close together at the end was inspired. amazing model delivers every time for you. learnt a lot. thanks
ONE DAY ill catch you live and not just on the recording. you really ARE one of the greatest teachers and of course Chloe is just always beautiful. i CANT subscribe to Adorama because i dont want to watch the other guys. youre the best so why waste time with the rest, is my manra. i still would like to come across the pond and do an internship with you and your team of models. thanks Freya and Sam for youre great professional support!
Gavin and team, very informative video. Thanks. Lots of new ideas to try out. A question, when you are taking close up portraits why don’t you use the camera in portrait mode/ vertical?
I love Gavin Hoey videos in this video love to use continues light my family bought me this thanks giving 3 led light 200,150,150 watts. Please Please please make a video on how to use continues light for high key ligh portrait using led lights.
Great talented model; participating to the photographer exploration; using simple materials helps at the same time, the dynamism of the focale (F1,7, example). Excellent work!! Great teaching, I'm learning!!
Gavin - I'm working through all your videos one by one - great stuff thank you. Do you ever work with make models? I'd love to see you change it up - any differences in your approach?
I watched you live from a showery Bideford, North Devon - I love your live shows, they're always such fun and really interesting. So tonight's was no exception. Great show Gavin! 👍
I absolutely love these shows, even though I wasn’t able to watch live unfortunately, day to day job came into the way 😉. So much information yet still so funny to watch, which makes watching them a pleasure. You guys really make a great team 😊
As usual, great tutorial from the Master. Question? Will you be preparing a tutorial on Mum & child, preferably toddler. More than one in photo? Thank you for all your lessons.
Excellent as always. My timeworn DSLR doesn't have Eye Detection, but with Face Detection enabled in AF-S mode it correctly focuses on the subject's eyes for the majority of shots. I'd love a Z9 but it'd probably be cheaper to undergo eye surgery!
Couldn't make it yesterday but watched it today. Great as always! Thank you so much for your passion and inspiration! One question: How much time does it need to prepare such a live video and a regular 12-15 min video? I guess you try it all at least once before you record? Thanks a million, Peter.
Hi Peter. Prep time varies but one thing is constant... They always take much, MUCH longer to create then most viewers realise. From concept to planning, filming to editing there so many unseen parts to a recorded video. Luckily or unluckily editing isn't required on a live stream 😉
Thanks again for a very nice and inspiring session Gavin. It is like Chloe said - you certainly have that positive, funny vibe. Those B&W shots were gorgeous. As for the colour shots, I think there was a slight difference in quality using LED and Flash. If you look at the close up @ 9:15 it is an clear difference above and below Chloe's cheek bones, both for details and colours. When using the flash, both colours and details were much more harmonic, as the close up @ 35:10 shows. The latter looks much more flattering. Maybe I am missing something here or does this have a logical explanation? I really would love to catch your live session while they actually are live, but Thursdays are difficult for me. Have you considered changing the days for your live sessions? Thanks also to Chloe - brilliant as always - and to Sam and Freya who has full control of the technical parts
The fourth power in Depth of Field (DoF) is called Circle of Confusion (CoC). It combines: film/sensor resolution, lens resolution, processing, image size, distance at which the image is looked at. Changes in CoC have a big impact on DoF. A sharp 1.4 can have less DoF than a soft 1.2. Bad processing - reduced sharpness - means more DoF because bigger CoC.
Enjoyed the video (I missed the livestream by an hour because I was working (Yakima, Washington, in the Pacific Northwest). I have a question for you, Gavin: Did you ever have "Raw to the Core" merch, and if so, is it still available?
We did do "RAW to the Core" T-Shirts a long, LONG time ago. I think the only ones that never sold were XS size and probably went into the clothes bank when we moved house a few years back.
They're the Manfrotto 1052 stackable stands Del. Manfrotto is a UK company, which I like, and here's a link to the stands on Adorama www.adorama.com/bg1052bac.html
Great show as usual, how about an idea to ponder, most households have pets but very few TH-cam photographers give advice on how to get the best photos. 👍
I was wanting to know how far I had to go into to the comments to see if this was mentioned. 😂 Thanks for the clarification! Although, I am now curious about his parent’s names.
I’ve watched the recording in December of 2024. This is amazing educational material! Thank you!!

@@GavinHoey and that’s exactly how it should be, shouldn’t it? Fun and light yet at the same time productive.
Another fun show, thank you
super video!!!! Thanks!!!
Love the tutorial, I did feel bad for Chloe when you were at 100% with your Forza 60c, models always tell me it's eye blinding.
Brilliant as always!!! ❤❤❤❤
Always a treat to catch up with the Adorama streams, everyday is a learning day.... and great to have the lovely Chloe modelling :-)
Simply sublime (as always) !
Thank you
Hello from Texas!
Thanks for the helpful video! What tripod are you using?
Thank you:)
As usual, great tutorial from the Master. Question? Will you be preparing a tutorial on Mum & child, preferably toddler. More than one in photo? Thank you for all your lessons.
No plans on that one from me Barky (not had much recent experience in family portraits) but keep watch Adorama TV as you never know.

Gavin, I believe you did a video where you added skirting (a baseboard) to a photo in Photoshop. I'd be grateful if you could point me to it.
Hello, Shirley from SA
Hi, from KCMO - Was the focus point on the Red splotch or the model?
Choke is very beautiful
Enjoyed the show very much as always. I'm looking for the link to the telescopic backdrop stands, could you help please Sir Gav....

Pet photography is all the hard parts of people photography with sack loads of extra stress thrown in! Not my skill set unfortunately.
I thought that's what you'd say, it would have been so funny.
Hello from sunny Selsey :)
