  • I planted a half-acre oats plot at a rate of 300 lbs per acre. I used a "new to us" International #I10 grain drill that Kurt picked up the week before. I also planted Crimson Clover at a rate of roughly 10-12 lbs per acre. We received 1.5" of rain that night. After 10 days the oats and clover are both looking great. We haven't had any rain since the night we planted it, but this part of the field holds moisture more than the rest, so it has been okay so far!
I plan on planting 100 lbs of Rye and 100 lbs of Wheat adjacent to the oats. Maybe by the end of the year will have a good idea of what the deer prefer.
    Thanks for watching!!!

Nice work! How does the tractor handle the drill? I was thinking about getting a use grain drill but I’m afraid my little tractor will do a “wheelie” trying to pull it.

Thank you! The tractor handled it just fine. It's a lot lighter than you would think. I bet you could even pull it with a side by side if you wanted to.

I was afraid you’d have to get more aggressive with the tillage to get good seed to soil contact. You did exactly what I would have so you did perfect 😅
If you don’t screw up once in a while, you ain’t trying hard enough 👍

      Lol
I know I would have been there for hours if I tried using the discs.
That's right. If you're not messing up, you're not trying. I must be really trying! Haha
